see bell last year, when he was playing his best footy. he is a quality spoiler of the footy, marks his man well, is strong in the air, fast on his feet. he has not bad disposal but makes terrible decisions. also seems to lack awareness of what is going on around him. give bell some confidence, put him in a good team and he will play 150 games for the club. he will never be in our top 10 players, but will exist somewhere between 15-25 for the next 5 years, getting games when he is in form, having a run at sandy when it is required. it would not surprise me if he is around for our next 'tilt'.

i think i would trade 18 or 19 for prismal. if we got him and warnock in the draft, and had players on the park next year we would be a much different unit than this year. we're not going to win the GF next year, but if we get mclean, moloney, davey back in the current midfield and add prismal (that is your 4 main mids for the club. add another ruckman. add a tall forward. add the experience the kids gained this year, and the skills and strength they gain over summer. we will be a bit more competitive.
-
with mids, i dont think we should target anything such as quick, or tall or whatever. i think what we need in a mid is 'best disposal by foot'. we need lace out passes to miller, newton, bate, wonna, maric, watts or whoever else is up there. even average forwards can kick lots of goals if they have good service. but pace would be nice
-
or would he simply keep young forwards like watts and newton out of the 1st's, and push miller further away from goal? just playing devils advocate. out of interest how many years would we sign him for in psd? would we offer him short term contract to allow him to go to the gold coast? or want to sign him up for his career?

cricket and footy in top yard (chruch car park) only when i was there, but could play 'hand footy' with a tennis ball on the basketball courts, or british bulldogs if the teachers werent around. middle yard was all downball or 4-square or whatever it was called.
-
i thought i did in my first post? i didnt list him in the initial bit, mostly because for the best part of the year he wouldnt have been considered a selection, let alone amongst our first picked players, but that has obviously changed the last few weeks.
-
im needs to come miller and jamar. garland if fit. out are PJ (inj), carrol (we are top heavy down back). other out could be a small forward, maric or wonna.
-
wow a melbourne supporter at st clements? when i was there, there were only 3 of us that i knew of, and one of them was a teacher... you driven past lately? bottom yard is now apartment blocks.
-
i realise that i failed to mention wheatly in my initial post, who is definitly in our 22 atm, and has had a pretty good season overall. he might not be a major part of the future, but he has been a consistant performer. i hanvt seen this acknowledged anywhere in the media though. fwiw it is interesting that we have effectively dumped all the nqr depth players, and are generally refusing to play the other older players on the list, and are thus forced to play young green kids, yet we are still seeing some good competitive football, and seeing some good patches, even if we're not winning anything.

i really need to give them my new email address lol fill us in will ya?

40 goals would make him our best forward. this season our leading goal kicker has 23 goals. this is millers best ever return goals wise (23). ben holland in a career spanning 12 afl seasons and 190 games (a success by anyones standards i think) has never managed more than 35 and has managed above 20 only 4 times. robbo has played 11 seasons, and kicked over 40 in 6 of those years. be reasonable in your expectations. if he kicks 40 goals we will be having a belter of a year.

reckon any team has ever been $1.85 for the win, the week after getting smashed by 116 points?
-
call me a traditionalist, and perhaps the reason we get low crowds is because supporters know they can turn up if they like and get a great seat, but i think, for the good of the club, excluding possible supporters is not a good thing. if the capacity was 25-30k then these games are feasible, but i'll be very dissapointed if we exclude what few supporters we have. members need guarenteed access at home games.
-
yeah we wont make the finals anyway so lol
-
cant see the point in playing games at a stadium with capacity of 10-15k if that means 5-10k supporters miss out. sure we might make money but how dissapointing for the fans?

i've taken the weekend of rugby dd36 you're on your own in this one lol

yep. and given that a nazi comparrison is so blantantly out of proportion and over the top, it is generally recognised that a) the discussion should be over, because it is clear that at least one of the parties involved has either no real understanding of what is going on, or has such a stubborn pov that the discussion is no longer anthing but a flame war (which this is fast becoming) and that b ) the person who made the hitler reference 'loses' the argument because they are no longer being reasonable.

can anyone find a link to the craig hutchenson story? i cant find it...

godwins law. you lost. end of discussion.

in defence of aussie, he was injurede in the first half, couldnt walk, was helped off the field, they worked on him for a bit, he went off down the race with medicos and didnt come back on until the second half, when he never got going. he clearly wasnt right. did anyone else notice our rotations? they were over the top last night. makes me think a few of them wernt fit enough to run out the game...
-
look in general i dont really rate bruce. but i thought last night he worked hard, stood up, went it hard, and did a good job on steve johnson. we didnt have many winners, but he won his position last night.
-
geelong traded for ottens to win the premiership. sort of like why we traded for pickett. we were trying to top the list up and win the flag, thought we were almost there. we weren't and neither was pickett. geelong were and ottens helped win it for them. we are not looking at winning one in the next 3 years. we need to draft the 3-4 kids each year to play in the team that will win it for us. brown will not change our chance of winning one.

umpiring was [censored] as usual. we got robbed last week. this week we wouldnt have won anyway. there were two separate teams out their tonight, and the umpires knew it.

Bartram - hardest job in football Bate - not a KPP Bruce - hard but flawed Buckley - does too much Carroll - 2nd rate defender Dunn - doesnt work both-ways Frawley - mistakes, promising glimpses Green - no direct opponent C.Johnson - down on output P.Johnson - invisible at stoppages Jones - needs better disposal (or 'needs a hand') McDonald - age wearies him Maric - let down by teammates Martin - strong in the air Morton - improved disposal Sylvia - needs a preseason Warnock - backup defender only Wheatley - long kicks nowhere Whelan - typical wheelan game White - games gone by Valenti - bled red n blue Wonaeamirri - injured by halftime

the tribunal ruled that in attempted to hip and shoulder, moloney was responsible for bartels injury (he knocked himself out when he hit his head on the ground), because bartel had to try and avoid contact. basically it was typical afl kick the mfc [censored].
