Yeah he may have just got comfy. Coming to the end. I don't like him because he is a sniper, and could have did more damage in his time (dangerous). But as a footballer I admire his persistence. He didn't have a great career at Carlton, but has rejuvenated himself at Norf.

We should've offered overs last year (600-750k). He may have bitten. I mentioned it at the time. But now its probably too late. We would have to compromise a lot now, and probably more than 1m a year come contract time. Kelly is that good. But teams have to identify them early, and hit them hard. I think we'll see that trend eventuate now. Every side dropped the ball on Kelly. They offered him slight overs when they should've have offered him massive overs (at the end of the last year), which would be unders right now. Some players are worth gambling on. Kelly has been the most effective player in the AFL for over a year now. He will only get better.

Bombers in the Land of the Fakirs... AFL in India
KingDingAling replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great post Hemingway, very informative. -
Their depth isn't great. Their NEAFL players are ordinary. Lids and Griffin look done. Johnson is on his last legs. Shaw is not the same player. Take Josh Kelly out of their side and they would be about as effective as MFC. Opposition teams should have been opening their purse strings for Kelly and Whitfield last year. They have missed the boat. But if either of those players leave GWS at years end, they won't replace them. Shiel and Ward aren't effective. Lids barely plays. Griffin has achieved nothing. GWS lose Kelly and Whitfield then they won't win a flag for a long while.

Essendon are going to lose because they didn't put a hard tag on Kelly. He has absolutely killed them.

Bombers in the Land of the Fakirs... AFL in India
KingDingAling replied to Diamond_Jim's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ben McNeice is of Indian heritage. His Mother is Indian. Logical Essendon would be involved. I think McNeice could run some clinics over there. He is a fair football brain that kid. Comes from a long line of football fanatics. I would love to see Essendon play in India. I think the Indian market in general is fairly untapped. -
Charlie Curnow is killing it. Painful to watch.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL HANNAN
KingDingAling replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hannan has that balance of an elite player. Not saying he is elite, or will be, but it is a great trait to have - the ability to keep his feet when others around him don't. -
The Suns looked average. If I were Lynch of May I would be considering my options. I can't see that lot challenging for a flag anytime soon. Once Ablett jr leaves the club then they are going to have to completely reset. I'm not sure they should of gotten Hanley either. He doesn't add much, and they are going to have to unearth some young talent. They have either wasted a lot - either left or not progressed. Although we didn't play our best football yesterday, we still looked a class above them in second gear most the game.

Oscar McDonald should never kick the ball.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
KingDingAling replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have Hogan and Gawn out. GC have Ablett out - who will most likely be out next year for GC. It is just an ordinary game. May isn't playing on anyone of substance. He'd have his hands full with Hogan. -
Good job Bernie Vince.
-
Umpiring has been great. I don't say that often.
-
Lewis was never that good anyway. Wasteful player.
-
He is such a good little player Garlett.
-
Melksham is playing like he knows he is a spud. I can handle that. He isn't trying to pin point targets (get ambitions). He is playing according to his ability. That is the only plus I have seen thus far. Jetta is playing well though.
-
The fact that Harmes can mostly kick straight automatically puts him ahead of half of our list (being generous). Our skills are pathetic.

Frustrating or not, I would like to see Trengove get a run at it. Last week in the VFL he had 13 effective kicks and only 2 ineffective kicks. For a bloke in reasonable VFL form, who has shown he can use the ball well, I would like to see him tried in the midfield. We have a collection of mostly wasteful and ineffective midfielders. It would be good to find another mid who can balance us out. May be Trengove, or may not be, but the group we have isn't using the ball very well. Need to try something.
