  1. Trengove doesn't even make your emergency list?
  2. A pocket radio is much cheaper than a smartphone and can't be blocked by the AFL. If you're in broadcast range.
  3. Not to minimise Roos' contribution, but Pedersen must have known at the end of last season that his career was on the line. He lost weight, trained very hard from all reports, and ran hard in the practice matches. Let's be fair to him, he's taken a GHL at himself, Td the C and he's BIT. edit spelling
  4. Watching the replay, Dawes is sure to go. Maybe for two.
  5. I got on. They're having a total meltdown, as you'd expect. Outraged at losing to a weak team like Melbourne - a little faint praise for us - only one poster dares to suggest we might be better than they thought. When I think what we've had to endure, this mob are WAP.
  6. Trafalgar - Brits v French, both playing away in Spanish waters.
  7. The interchange is interesting - who is the sub? Salem isn't going to get any fitter playing part-games, but JKH, Riley, Matt J - I don't want to see any of them in a green jacket.
  8. What's taken the heat out of this "concern about draft picks v. aiming to win" is the fact that we now have a recruiting team who have apparently not put a foot wrong from trading our first pick right through to our final rookie pick. Wherever we finish, I have confidence in our recruiters.
  9. A good pig dog never squibs it. It attacks ferociously and holds on like a wheel clamp.
  10. On reflection, I think he's there as a role model for the moral development of players like young Toby.
  11. I was amazed to learn that Scully is in the leadership group. Just amazed.
  12. How often do the best 22 run out together? To say someone's not in the best 22 says nothing, really - it certainly doesn't imply that they're expendable. If you must have a number, it would have to be at least 26. Beyond that you'd be looking for players to cut, subject to contract, potential for development, and possession of goat photos.
  13. Take it easy, Saty. As Jesus said to Saul (Acts 26:14), "It is hard for thee to kick against the pr*cks."
  14. I wouldn't mind a few years of gathering evidence on this question.
  15. Someone's got to keep the literacy bar raised, dave.
  16. Blease will have to do a lot to stay on the list at all. He's still a long way from call-up. Seeing Terlich motionless on the ground for such a long time, I can't believe they'll play him next week. Clisby, or perhaps Georgiou - depending on whether they need run and attack or a shut-down job on a Tiger forward. Byrnes does the 1%ers and that will keep him in the team until Kent is ready. Kent may have to play another good game at Casey, but in the end he must come back. I'd like to see Salem in the starting 21, but they'll have to manage his time carefully. I think he's still coming back from the thyroid illness, and a full game is a stretch for him. He had moments of brilliance last night, and I loved the way he gave the elbow to a Doggie in the goal square after his goal - not just a pretty face.
  17. With the onset of creeping secularism, "Demons" has become a softer term, associated with nerds playing fantasy games on their computers. We need something that will genuinely inspire fear. The Funnel Webs, the Taipans, the Bull Sharks, the Hippos, the Merchant Bankers, the Feminazis. We could try that last one out tonight
  18. dee-luded, if people can't see the goods, they won't buy
  19. Nathan Schmook: DG "Why would one come to that finding when the result was a broken jaw?" Because... just because!
  20. Garland for Georgiou, but without knowing Viney's fate and the state of Chip's toe, the rest is silence.
  21. So long as you're not the King in Carcosa.
  22. daisy cutter, I think insurance companies naturally seek to maximise profits. Holding premiums steady or even slightly reducing them in return for changes which reduce the likelihood of big claims - and insurance is all about probability - would work well for them.
