  1. Exactly Maurie. Good work on the stats too. Also if DB seems focussed on addressing culture at the Club earler in his reign why in hell would he punt on the spasmodic and flaky Brennan?
  2. Nicho did play some good football earlier but deteriorated. Ferg never did. Too many posters wrongly overvalued Ferg's undoubt courage as a proxy for the absence of critical skills at AFL level. Both were ultimately not up to AFL.
  3. 47 games in 5 years makes a fool of your conspiracy. ND was critical of him after the Freo game at the MCG where McPharlin kicked four on him in the first quarter. Its was justified. Ferg was embarrassing and forgot rule 101 of defending that day and his failure caused a desperate rejuggling of the backline in the 2nd quarter which undermined our performance that night. I would be very surprised if he get picked up.
  4. Why? What have you missed over the past five years? Absolute bollocks. Agree. He was not up to AFL.
  5. WCE must be that enamored with Armas they are dredging Sampi back to fill a hole up forward.
  6. Freak your rant is fact and content free, full of your usual pretentious and shallow Miller bile and ulitimately boring. Its no surprise that you have the reached the vacuous and hollow conclusion you have. Even to the most untrained eye, Miller offers a little more than Godfrey and Ferg. Its illogical and stupid to disagree with one retention and then to use to castigate the delisting of clearly NQR players in Ferg and Godfrey. Your pretentious rubbish is further shown up by the fact no AFL cluba are queuing eagerly to secure the services of Godfrey and Ferg.
  7. Why the AFL facilitate a game (most likely at Telstra Dome) that would attract about 10,000 people....12,000 if it were blockbuster?
  8. Jamar already had a 2 year contract so it would be same same with him. What the hell would the Hawks do with Ferg given their side?? Agree Jaded.
  9. If his contribution on the field is indeed expected to be negligible then it would be in MFC's and Neitz's interest to determine a termination point in his career rather then ending like a shag on a rock. He deserves better than that. While he might have something to instil into young players and be positive for memberships and sponsors, he will do no one any benefit if he cant get a possession on the ground and cant impact the scoreboard. Even worse if he is Captain. I hope Neitz is fit enough to be a positive contributor this year. I have no doubt this year will be his last and MFC must be realistic as to how many games they will get out of him. I have no further doubt that he will be played predominantly from the goal square as suggestions that he be played up the ground or CHB are ludicrious at his age and given the speed of modern football. I would prefer he passes the Captaincy to another player and just focus on getting through the season and providing direction to younger player. My choice is Brad Green.
  10. With "Long John" Whitnall at CHB? He was certainly a strong impetus as Captain of Carlton in 2007. Tanks for the contribution Lance. I am sure Rogue can answer for himself but the inference if we are not in a premiership window (and by your admission we are not) then we should recruit a crippled 28yo. In addition I would add why retain a 28yo talented lazy underperforming footballer as well. And you would prefer to "win" games?
  11. If we have a good run with injury and still finish 9-12th how much "hurt" will getting rid of a 28 yo perenially underperforming player with a poor work ethic and two years left in his career? If, in your eyes we clearly arent challenging in 2008 why not trade him for value now and recruit a capable taltented young player with 10 year playing potential?
  12. Hold CHB on one knee and cant kick properly because of his bad one. FWIW, I'll Rivers with two good knees (even one) at CHB than Whitnall. BTW, I reckon Frawley is designed for FB rather than CHB.
  13. Its not surprising you have not yet a got a "better understanding of who is better and w(h)at role they are suited too.." given someone like Jamar has been on the list for six years and PJ four years! Anyone inkling why they sought Meesen for a pick and not just relied on a rookie?? Hmmmm! The Club is rightly concerned with the quality of the ruck stocks and rightly so. Bailey's really going to have fun with your favourites and once again you wont have clue what is happening when he does it. After finishing 15th I would have thought even you might have realised that some serious review of the team list is necessary. No doubt you pretty chuffed with it.
  14. He cant train nor play with no timeline for recovery and is not fussed by his injuries. You are kidding?? Its quite the opposite when I have spoken with him in other places. He plays a poker face in the rooms. By what measure can we afford a player who has missed so much football? AFL is a demanding and unforgiving game and I would be surprised that a player can miss 2 and possibly more years out of the game and return. Moloney was promising but he was by no means elite and could ill afford to miss so much footy.
  15. Can he drive that far? Would not touch him with barge pole.
  16. Wasnt Cook a PSD pick up? Either way he kicked six in one game then did his knee in the next. He was hardly the worst we have had. Moorcroft was a dud if ever there was one. Rather damming assessment of MFC if it were true. He was injury riddled and gave us good service! We got just under one good year out of him. Injuries limited his output. He was hardly a great pickup.
  17. Another year out of the game and I think the opportunities for Beamer to return to the game are limited. he has not played consistent senior footy since 2005 Absence makes the heart grow fonder about how good Moloney was. His first season with MFC was promising. However he had a number of aspects he needed to work opn including his decision making with the ball and defensive skills when he does not have it. I hope he returns but I am not confident. The bottom line wirth OP is that there is no surefire cure for it and each OP case is treated individually. His position out could be open ended.
  18. Correct to a point. We dont have enough quality ruckman. White is near the end. Both PJ and Jamar are on notice to perform. The wraps on PJ are way off the mark. He is as close to being a good AFL ruckman as Miller is to be the next Carey. Our ruck division is an issue and many here overrate mediocrity. I would like to see us rookie another big player as heaven help us if our ruck future revolves around either Jamar and/or PJ. I hope Meesen works out
  19. Sylvia injuries and the limitations they have caused him a well know. He has yet to tear a major game apart. Sylvia needs to prove he can achieve at the highest level like TJ did. With due respect TJ has not had crippling and it was his 5th season 2002 where he finally showed something. He definitely had the ability but under delivered on it big time.
  20. There were rumours about this for some time before it got in the media. Travis has struggled with the off field maturity aspects to make it as a top footballer.
  21. That's always been the Carlton way.
  22. No. He was a leadership vacuum and is physically a wreck for AFL. On top of this his family life is a mess and being dissected in the media. Geelong got rid of King (ex captain). WCE negotiated a trade for their ex-captain. Hardly a surprise. Its been on the cards for Whitnall all year.
  23. At 34, I would make him a 4 quarter tagging player now Godders is gone.
  24. He has been leadership disaster and is now a physical wreck for AFL. And then there is the family......
