  1. Ignore Y_m's pre pubescent crassness, BL. Trapper is talented but lazy footballer. Over 10 years at the club, no one doubts his ability but he has underdelivered on that talent big time. His record is mediocre for a No 1 pick and we all know how he can play. He just does not deliver on the talent bank. We did the right thing cashing in on him now while he has some value. I would have done three years ago. So what woud you have done in 12 months with TJ on his current form. Resign him for $400,000 p.a. or let him wander off on the PSD. By the way dont get me started on Yze. He makes TJ look like Brett Kirk. I would have flicked him years ago.
  2. That could easily be applied to any draft. There is so much overhype on a "strong" draft or "weak" draft. Most of it is assessed on the first 8 to 10 then gets misquoted ad infinitum on footy sites.
  3. I dont have to. I have seen him play and like Geelong I dont believe he is best 22 and is a limited footballer. For what Geelong had to do to their salary cap and list, I think it is was sensible to dispense with a NQR player.
  4. Michael Gardiner is chronically injured. Charlie Gardner is Geelong's Ferg who dominates at VFL and struggles at AFL level. Gee thanks goose it good they get rid of players they rate. Pity they dont pick them in their team regularly. They squeezed King for No 90 for salary cap reasons
  5. Maybe Roos has worked out what you might have overlooked.
  6. They are more than that. Clarke is just about gone. Gardiner is chronically injured and Blake is not good enough. And they want to play Kozi forward too. Its could be a win win if Geelong have something else they want to do with No 90. Charlie Gardiner I dont rate. Placings in the VFL B & F are like a fourth in the fifth in midweek Benalla.
  7. Outstanding post H. It perfectly sums TJ to a T!
  8. I am further amazed that so many posters back a Coach to get the best of a player when the player does not show any of the basic attributes himself to do so.
  9. Its also a common sense approach against the uninformed bile that people pass on this site as criticism of the Club.
  10. Hardly stupid decisions then. Sydney are playing for now. Roos has stated that they cannot afford to trough. In addition, they need to make the most of the moment while they have OLoughlin, Hall, Goodes, Kirk etc. Neither player mentioned is key 22 material at Sydney.
  11. I am surprised at Richmond's interest in Jordan McMahon. Struck me as exactly what they dont want.
  12. Miller was a pauper of a player before that happen. He was also found wanting before Daniher played him up back Like much of his football judgement Millers physicality was misused and crudely applied resulting in avoidable frees and suspension. He played the man and not the ball. Now Miller plays neither the man or the ball. I am at a loss to identify how the absence of the reckless aggression prevents a player from being able to consistently and competitive contest for a ball and to demonstrate that he is AFL standard. Focussed physicality is a waste if it is not directed to consistently contesting and winning possession of the ball. That is where MFC is lacking. Any other physical stuff that is way overrated by posters on this site is a waste of time. Hasnt the tribunal rulings of recent emphasised this? We have Miller for two more years. I hope he shows more than what he has so far.
  13. What a load of crap that Daniher broke Miller. Never has there been a player given sooo much playing and leadeship opportunity to perform with so little return. You may as well blame Miller's parents for any genetic deficiencies that undermine his game.
  14. White is close to retirement. The other two are NQR. And one or both will be gone by the end of 2008. Meesen is no certainty to make it in AFL. We need to ensure we have a quality young ruckman coming through.
  15. Its unlikely at this point but not impossible. However, I would be surprised if the forward line would contain any more than two of the above for any sustained period. Neitz is certainty if fit to be picked. Robbo gets the second spot. Yze will struggle to hold a spot and Holland will pitch hit up forward once in a while.
  16. Its not based on town populations but also potential supporter/ viewing audience. With all due respect to Nasher, I dont think that based on the population of Tassie (if all barracked for the Hawks) it would be enough to financially justify a team. Topical Maurie, topical indeed.
  17. Incorrect. While Rivers was a big hole in defence, our number one problem week in week out was our inability to win the contested ball and the clearances from the midfield or at least stymy the opposition winning it. A fit Rivers would not have corrected this fault. However as our most important defender he would have provided a good defensive and rebounding option. IMO he is about No 3 on our list. A fit and firing McLean and Jones are my two most important players.
  18. Truth is he is an indifferent kick. If confidence is a problem and it is, his ability to produce good kicking during the pressure of game undermines any kicking style that he might have. PJ is not good overhead either as a ruck or as a marking option. Any improvement he has show, dramatically or otherwise has been off a low base that was not AFL standard. Nashers comments sum it perfectly. He either makes it as a ruckman or he is delisted.
  19. Maybe if the Club were to get some sustained success on the field that might change the perception of a Club that has chronically underperformed and underachieved in the past 43 years. Until then kiddies, get a thick skin and prepare for more ski ing and 4 wheel drive chides next year.
  20. Dont hold your breath on the most overrated five days in the footy calendar. You should get out more.
