Being a manager in the business world has no correlation with a sports coach or manager. Miscasting? Why should a manager make exceptions for a consistent poor performer? Crouch with that pick, who did little in his initial 2 years, but won a B&F in his 4th. And you also have to factor in the salary cap space that is freed up with Watts leaving.

I'm pretty sure we low-balled Howe, to force him to leave. Howe's output under Roos was no different to his previous coaches. He was inconsistent, so you can't say that Roos got the best out of him. It was Buckley who was able to get him to play at a comsistent level.

Well the plot thickens. Aaron Francis has requested a trade back to Adelaide (the city), and he's still under contract. Surely the righteous AFC wouldn't dare trade for a player of such moral standing. Francis has only been at Essendon 2 years.

Now that's a furphy. The fact that so many have referred back to 1 game (2017 QB vs average side) as their sole reference as a match winner, suggests that he rarely does it. Even on that day, he wasn't BOG. Kind of reminds me of the Spencer fans who kept referring back to the game against Geelong. Spencer was at the club for 10 seasons, and had 1 memorable game.

Great post TSD. I can think of heaps of people I've worked with over the many years who fit the same category, whether it be in a big company or a small business. Genuinely nice people and popular with fellow staff, but just don't get it when it comes to work standards. As a friend, you try to talk to them about it, but they are always in denial, and will blame everybody else. Finally they are put on Performance Management, and either the penny drops, or they are pushed out the door. People on here would have no idea of discussions between the FD and Watts throughout the year. We know that Watts was disciplined during the preseason, and when know the club wasn't happy with how he came back from his rehab with a hammy. And yet Watts still seems to be in denial. And we're still talking in terms of his potential after 9 seasons.

I suppose the Crows angst towards Lever is similar to ours and Scully. Both had only been at the club a short time, which makes it harder to accept. At least Lever told the club a month ago of his decision, which allowed them to up their offer to McGovern. You can produce all the stats you like. Watts got dropped due to poor form, and since being at the Crows, Lynch has never been close to being dropped.

And here lies the problem. You think he's boy and he probably thinks he's a boy. He's been in the system 9 years and the excuses are wearing thin. In the modern game, his weaknesses outweigh his strengths, and that's not factoring in his apparent lack of professionalism.
