  1. If you had of included the bolded sentence in your Goodwin critique, and detailed the flaws of the team under Roos, I wouldn't have come to the opinion that you are being excessively harsh on a 1st year coach. Roos left us with some underlying issues within the team's culture, which Goodwin is trying to address. And you are putting all the pressure on Goodwin with lines like: "We are in 'hashtag noexcuses' territory." But as you say, this debate is for another topic.
  2. And yet you annointed Roos the Greatest Caretaker Coach ever. 2016 we had a full list under Roos and won 10 games. 2017 we were hit hard by injuries to key players and won 12 games. Even if we played finals, you would have given the credit to Roos.
  3. To all the Goodwin critics, surely it's an endorsement of him, when the best out of contract player available in this trade period has chosen the MFC. Whilst money may or may not have been a factor, his future coach would definitely have been a major factor in his decision.
  4. We won't get pick 20 for Watts. It will be more like pick 33.
  5. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/trading-and-drafting/jake-levers-switch-from-adelaide-to-melbourne-edging-closer-20171010-gyy66o.html We're getting closer. This years 1st rounder and next years 1st rounder for Lever plus pick 18 which Adelaide get for Cameron. Seems like swapping of other picks as well. This will leave us without a 1st rounder next year, but picks 18 and 27 this year isn't too bad.
  6. By the CEO's own admission, Lever telling the club a month earlier of his intentions to leave, the club was able to up it's offer to McGovern, and re-sign him. I'm thinking the angst towards Lever has been initiated by Tex.
  7. His value is dictated by the market. You may think that Hogan is worth $500k based on deeds, but that would be an insult when Freo may be offering $1m.
  8. Well the plot thickens. Aaron Francis has requested a trade back to Adelaide (the city), and he's still under contract. Surely the righteous AFC wouldn't dare trade for a player of such moral standing. Francis has only been at Essendon 2 years.
  9. I suppose the Crows angst towards Lever is similar to ours and Scully. Both had only been at the club a short time, which makes it harder to accept. At least Lever told the club a month ago of his decision, which allowed them to up their offer to McGovern. I just don't understand why AFL clubs and the players, have a hard time reconciling with losing a player, when every year they are all out to poach players from other clubs. The Storm actually allowed the 4 players who were leaving the club to lead the side off the ground in their Prelim win, which was their final home game. It was so the crowd could thank the players for their service, and vice versa.
  10. That was also mentioned.

Weideman wasn't eligible for F/S as his old man Mark didn't play enough games. And Murray is his grandfather.
  12. No. Take out the pick 14. We give up 10, 27 and Watts for Lever and 35.

Exactly. Had his cards marked all year because he's too slow for a small forward role, and is an average kick.

Not sure how many years they were signed up for, but my guess would be Ben Kennedy or Pat McKenna. Unless Garland has been paid out for his final year of his contract.
  15. Only if they're on the market and we are their club of choice.
  16. When a high quality young key position player expresses interest in joining your club, you jump at the chance. And which quality mids are on the market?
  17. If Lever nominates Melbourne, the deal will get done.
  18. In the words of Harry Who of Get Smart fame, "Amazing!'
  19. Goodwin has already touted that T Mac will play forward, which is why Watts is exependable.
  20. Seriously binman. You're making an assessment of his lack of capabilities based on one example.
  21. The Brownlow is a midfielders award. The only other position that polled well where key forwards in Buddy, Kennedy and Brown.
  22. Or even free up a spot for category B players like Maynard and Smith, who've both shown early signs of potentially cracking into best 22. We should only be trading for players who you could imagine playing round 1 in the seniors next year.
  23. No it doesn't. It means we give a 1st round pick, Jack Watts and a 3rd round pick. Unless we got Collingwood's 2nd round pick back, it's daylight robbery.
  24. That's not necessarily relevant to his currency on the open market. The players' age and the role they play becomes a factor. As an example, the Weid wouldn't rate in our top 25, but that doesn't mean he's only worth a third round pick on the open market. The Crouch brothers would have only broken into the Crows top 10 this year, and they've been in the system for a while. And as much as I love Rory Laird, the role he plays would never command a high 1st rd pick.

Why keep a player who won't play senior football ahead of a rookie listed player who could be a potential star? Garland is just dead wood on our list.
