  1. It's perplexing because the match committee didn't have the confidence to select him when a like for like player in JVR was suspended. We named him as sub and then didn't bring him on despite T Mac giving us donuts. Schache is not a young kid. We should know his strengths and weaknesses by now. If we're not going to play him with all the injuries we had to KPFs, then why is he still on the list? Being cheap and a solid citizen doesn't cut it. Two of the best young KPFs in Larkey and Mitch Lewis were drafted very late. If Schache rots at Casey for another year then I think his list spot is best used by taking a fly on a young kid or a State League player.
  2. Please no. You want a player who's desperate and motivated to play in a succesful side, and hopefully play in a premiership team, aka Ben Brown. If Hawkins is holding out for more money, then we'll be just be topping up his super.
  3. GC probably have the same philosophy as us. Get a deal done early and move on to the next one. Plus these discussions would have been going on for weeks.
  4. You are massively over valuing Grundy. Even with pick swaps included with Grundy, pick 11 will never be on the table. We want him out of the club, so there'll be no hardball. A pick around the mark for what we paid is what we can expect back in return.
  5. Spargo is not a high pressure forward and doesn't have the goal scoring potential of Billings. When in form, the ceiling of Billings compared to Spargo is like chalk and cheese.
  6. Really like this move. Exactly the right fit for us. Cheap, young, developing forward/ruck. No expectations of him being a world beater, but can't be any worse than both Jackson and Grundy have been as forwards for us over the past 2 seasons. Thankfully there'll be no fan or media scrutiny if he's playing at Casey.
  7. Pass. Since his debut season, he's struggled with injuries and form. After his performance in the finals, I'm not surprised Port are trying to offload him.
  8. Well his trade value didn't go up by spending half the season at Casey. Media are just stating the obvious.

We'll have to draft a mature aged ruckman from the State Leagues, which is what we should have done last year. We'll also need to trade for a forward/ruckman like Lobb.

Not surprising given what happened to Preuss and Grundy.
  11. Message to Jason Taylor. No more Rangas. Next thing we know Bowey will request a trade to his old man's club St. Kilda.
  12. Comparing Watts to Clarry? I've seen it all!!!!
  13. At the end of the day, they have either given up on him or not. His on-field form was hardly diabolical. As we've seen with DeGoey and Dusty, off-field issues are reparable.
  14. If the club is contemplating trading him, they are hardly putting their arms around him.
  15. The Pies don't win a flag without De Goey, who's had a dozen more off-field transgressions than Clarry. Instead of cutting him loose. they freed up salary cap space to re-sign him by trading a solid citizen in Grundy. If the alleged off-field issues with Clarry are true, then it's up to the club to deal with it. You don't trade away a proven generational talent for draft picks when you are still in a premiership window.
  16. The club is playing with fire if they are open to listening to offers for Clarry. We need to nip it in the bud ASAP. Clarry may not have been at his best when he came back from injury, but that's understandable considering the setbacks he had during his rehab. He's been injury free since he started, so coming back from injury was new to him. If he is allowed to look elsewhere, the only club with the currency is North. If he chooses another club, that limits what we can expect in return. Sure, we can hold him to his contract should trade talks break down, but we would then need to mend the fence with Clarry. Clarry is a recent 2 time Coaches Award winner. That puts him in the top 10 players in the comp. MFC needs to shut this nonsense down.
  17. Same thing applies to a few posters on here who claim to be "in the know". Goodwindees is the only poster I trust.
  18. We've invested 1st round picks in the past 2 drafts on key forwards (JVR and Jefferson). If we pursue McKay, that would amount to 4 1st round picks on key forwards in 3 drafts. That's gross mismanagement IMO.
  19. If Carlton are prepared to release McKay from his long and lucrative contract, then alarm bells should be ringing. Like Grundy, we would be getting a player who is coming off his worst season. But unlike Grundy, we would have to sell the farm to get him, because I don't see the Blues getting rid of McKay as a salary dump. A big no for mine.
  20. The only issue with Lobb is if Max gets injured, Lobb can't or won't want to assume the no. 1 ruck. He's a better forward/ruck than Flynn, but Flynn can step up as a no.1 ruck.
  21. I mentioned in the other thread that a mate is a Life Member at West Perth, so I watch their games when I have the chance. I don't think he's AFL standard. I messaged my mate about the interest in him on Demonland, and he replied that Keitel is talented, but very selfish. And that's coming from someone who works with the players.
  22. Pies decision to get rid of Grundy was justified. Grundy is probably wondering how Frampton has a premiership medallion, whilst he got the lemon and sars from the club he loved.
  23. Aside from getting a mature aged ruckman, that's the way I see it. If we continue to bring in mature aged players from other clubs, we'll continue to lose younger talent like Bedford and JJ, because they can't see a pathway into the seniors. We need some elite junior talent to be pushing the under performing players in the seniors. Our draft hand this year is our opportunity of obtaining elite youngsters.
  24. Just an observation. The footskills of the Irish women across the league is astounding. Maybe Choco is overrated. The ball movement of our girls is far more enjoyable to watch than our men's team, despite Geelong really pressuring well all game. As others have said, Aimee Mackin will become a superstar. The only team that worries me is the Crows. They have an excellent midfield and a potent forward line. Even though we were dominant last night, our backline was jittery at times, especially Goldrick. Maddie Gay needs to return there for some stability.
  25. Maybe old dee is colour blind and getting his Whites and Browns mixed up.
