  1. The game I watched last night; Baltimore scored 4 touchdowns (average score) the punter had 9 game involvements Miami scored 2 field goals (poor score) the kicker had 5 game involvements. Agree the kickers get paid considerably less but there are laws in place to protect kickers from getting injured and some of them play through to their mid 40's. Whereas the lineman have about an 8 year window because they get bashed up every week.
  2. I might be able to help you with that. The kicker place kicks the ball; To start the game or to resume after half time. To resume the play and gain best field position after a score, either a touch down or a field goal. To kick field goals To kick an extra point after a touch down On some rare occasions used for an onside kick Depending on the scores the kicker can be used between 10 and 20 times a game. More if it’s a high scoring game. The punter is used much less frequently. They punt the ball purely for distance and hang time and its all about best field position. With more and more Australians filling these jobs the style of kicking is moving towards drop punts rather than a punt. The reverse Aussie spin kick it is described as. To punt is to give the ball to the opposition so it’s a last resort measure. Some games the punter is not used. On a day of low scores the punter can be used up to 10 times. The punter also has the important role of holding the ball after the snap for the kicker when attempting field goals and extra points. Don’t know why they call it football. My Dad, who was from Scotland, used to ask me the same question about Aussie rules.
  3. Isnt it Ashbury and not Asbury.
  4. I read my prize incorrectly sorry Stone. With the current options up forward I would choose Garry Lyon to have the most impact. I didn't choose Robert Flower because that would suggest I didn't give my decision due consideration.
  5. Sorry DS, Jake Lever for me.
  6. Pick 15? Who else do you have being selected before pick 7 other than the 3 academy players?
  7. We need to convince the Pies a trade for Steven May will be better than the AFL compensation for Mihocek. If we an do this te Spargo compensation will not be diluted.
  8. I had a couple of hours on it yesterday. Didnt get close. Keep them coming please D Stone. Im sure, like me, plenty on here enjoy them
  9. I started to believe the following week. I walked into the Waterfront hotel in Hobart pre game. It was a sea of red and blue. I thought to myself this is really happening.
  10. Waldo Von Eric used to wear a protective glove on his right hand. Whenever he used his right hand to deliver a blow it always nearly ended the match. It was always assumed he had a foreign object stuffed down there but never proven.
  11. I was there that day. In the medallion club. I had an arrangement with the guy behind the bar. On my way to the toilet I would give him a wave. Beers would be ready for me on my way back to my seat. Thats how busy he was.
  12. I had that as well. I'm pretty sure Tony Charlton was the interviewer.
  13. Merry Christmas all. Its a wonderful site.
  14. That works, if JVR was to slide to the 5th round. Edit, I see Old55 explained this.
  15. If we matched the Gold Coast bid on Andrew, that would have likely came at pick 5, we would have had nothing left to pay for JVR. I don't think we got hurt with that rule change, unless you think Mac Andrew has way more upside than JVR.
  16. Yeah Im thinking if it was the other way around, Hawthorn 4th and Dockers 9th our games would be in Perth and Melbourne and both Hawthorn games would be in Melbourne.
  17. So if the Dees finish 3rd and are in the same pool as Fremantle, (who finished 4th) and Hawthorn do we get the option of selecting our home game and our away game?
  18. This cannot be compared to the wild card system the NFL apply. To earn a wild card entry teams need to have strong win/loss ratio over the season and miss the play offs because they were part of a highly competitive Division. This is just expanding the finals series and rewarding a team that finishes in the bottom half of the ladder with an opportunity to play finals. 8/18 is plenty. 10/18 does not make sense I think.
  19. I cant think of an A grader he traded out during his time at Sydney, except for Barry Hall which was a Kirk led revolt regarding his on field behaviour. Happy to be corrected.
  20. He said that in 2014. There was no Oliver, Petracca, Gawn, May, Lever or Kozzie going around then.
  21. Next weeks team Brown - Not going in. Billings - Not going in
  22. Who else? I know Star Wars is the movie you are referring to but I have never seen it. I think you will need to find someone to play the key protagonist in the Paul Roos signing. Someone to play Kevin Dyson.
