  1. Hi DeeVoted, I'd like to go round again. My team name is inebriated sealpup. Thanks for all your work organizing this.
  2. I'd hate if one of the 'other' clubs in this get caught out under the salary cap, if we for example still have to include milkshake's payments under our cap, then the rookie we nominate gets match payments that are in excess of the cap, surely there'll be some relief. I know that in a normal season rookies get elevated and the club would make allowances, but this could potentially be for the whole season, and still have the normal season events.
  3. Was only an example, been plenty of these types over the years, both inebriated or sober. Here's an article if you want to read about a few weird injuries http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afls-weirdest-postseason-injuries-isaac-heeney-joel-patfull-join-bizarre-club/news-story/f6cdedf504e73de93b268e3a8224ffb3. These guys are professional athletes, but also still normal people who can get injured the same stupid way the rest of us can. Tracc was unlucky more than anything, but the reactions on here are horrendous.
  4. Completely agree Bossdog, the overreaction has been massive. I've seen players out in a group, around 5 or 6 of then, the day before a game (mid-season, not pre-season) having a shoot around with a basketball. Sometimes these things just happen, and you've got to be thankful it's just a minor toe (from club reports), and not more serious. There's plenty of example's of random event's causing injuries like Tingay's glass incident a few years ago.
  5. From the look of it we'll take Parish at 3, who looks like the exact inside/out mid we're screaming out for. After that I think the next 5 picks will come from Francis, Curnow, Milera, Weideman and a mid maybe Mathieson. I see Essendon going with a tall and a mid, so maybe Mathieson with either Francis/Curnow or Weideman, while GC will either go Milera or Francis. That should leave us one of Weideman, Curnow or Francis at 7. Ideally I think Weideman would be best as he could potentially be the best partner for Jesse in a few years.
  6. FB: Jetta Dunn Garland HB: Salem TMac Melksham C: Vince Viney Watts HF: Kent Dawes Petracca FF: Frost Hogan Garlett R: Gawn Jones Tyson Int: Vanders, Brayshaw, Lumumba, Bugg Depth: Pure backmen: OMac, White, Terlich Back/Mid: Grimes Pure Mid: Trengove, Stetch, M Jones, Mitchie Fwd/Mid: Newton, ANB, JHK, Kennedy Pure Fwd: Harmes, Hunt Ruck/Fwd: Spencer (altough only ruck), King, Pedersen If we went to the draft searching for positions rather than best available (which we will), I'd say we still want more mids, especially classy in/out mids (we should be right for inside mids), key forwards or fwds who can ruck, another key back and another ruck. IMO Guys who need a big season to make it to 2017 would be: Pedersen, Spencer, King, Hunt, Harmes, Mitchie, M Jones, Terlich, Grimes and Mitchie. That excludes Trengove who just needs to get on the park and play footy consistently, otherwise if injury hits again he'll probably retire.
  7. Same squad as last week with Stretch and Fitzy dropping out. Be interesting to see who the 3 are who are left out this week. I wonder if they'll play Pedo as he might be in for Dawes for rd 1, or if they'll throw Frost around and hope he can fill in for that week?? Anyway I hope they give Dawes a week off or play him in the Casey pracy match (although that might not be until the week later???), and give the Rd 1 fwd a go. Then I'd guess the other 2 outs will come from Mitchie, McKenzie, Newton, Vandenberg, Bail, Viney, Toump, Corss or M Jones. I love that there's no obvious outs, good competition for the supporting mids (outside the locks in Nate Jones and Tyson).
  8. Was there today, thought I'd see the massive overreactions put up on here. Have not been disappointed, 25+ pages of whinge. The facts are we played very impressive footy in the first half, had the win in the bag and (whilst i'll be jumped on for this) put the cue in the rack in the second half. First half Mcdonald and Garland seemed to have license to run and make the play, then in the second half looked to be under instruction to stay back a lot more. Might have been to try and stop the doggies flood. Great signs from grimes, salem, toump, garland, garlett, jkh, lumumba, jamar and jetta. A little disappointed in gawn up forward today but ruck was ok, and dawes didn't have a big impact
  9. Hi guys, Question about the game (if anyone knows), I've got tickets for myself but there's no option to buy for kids under 6. Does that mean they get in for free? Not an issue just don't want to have to line up to buy my 3 year old a ticket if there's a pre-purchased line to go straight in.
  10. I'll play again, thanks for organising
  11. I for one, think we've done OK this trading period - we couldn't get the 'superstar mid' but rarely do they move anyway (I know some went home). We've replaced Frawley, got a rebounding defender in that should mean Howe goes forward again plus a small crumbing speedster, and got picks 2 & 3 and Stretch. The trade period should never be the magic 'fix' everyone wants, smart clubs use it to fill gaps and then develop what they've got/draft.
  12. Not sure why people are so mad about essentially swapping 23 for Frost and 40. Frost we wanted and in looking over the last few drafts there's not been a clear year where 23 has been better than 40. Pick 40 has got Parker (Syd) and Christensen (Geel), so I trust that they have someone in mind, who might have been pick 23 potential anyway. (Not saying we'll get a Parker or Christensen, just examples).
  13. I love what the mods have done with the banner today, Robbie looking over the 'G with red and blue in the background. RIP Robbie.
  14. We'll get mentioned with every tall who comes on the market, because it's obvious we need at least 1 or 2 more with Clark and Chip going. Some people on here seem to be on heat for every player who wants to move clubs or is delisted. For what I've seen I'd prefer Butcher over Jones, but trust that Roos, Stones and co will find a tall diamond in the rough somewhere.
  15. Haven't given this too much thought, but if Lumumba goes to North, would we be able to get a look at Shaun Atley? I see Lumumba being a very similar player, who might hold Atley back?? They'll offer Muller but I think Atley will be much better. I understand why Roos is after a rebounding defender, we've really only got defensive players, at best Grimes is a defensive/rebounder rather than attacking rebounding (if that makes sense?). Would Clark to Coll, Lumumba to Nth and Atley to us do? or would picks come into it?
  16. For mine, Garland will come out because of his knee and the only other out I'd have is Jamar. We went tall against a very tall West Coast but North don't have the same type of team, and with Chip down back we're covered there. Jamar has done a lot better this year than I thought he would, but it seems like he's been struggling for the last 4 or so games so give him a rest and that'll give Fitzy the chance to have some decent minutes in the ruck. I'd love to tell either Pedersen or Dawes that one of them must be in the F50 all game, no matter what, then have the other roam. With Fitzy/Gawn resting up there. Coming in would be Riley (but to stay in the midfield, not forward or back pocket) and Mackenzie or Blease (I still have a small amount of hope for him).
  17. Didn't look like an ACL, he was proppy for most of the game after it looked like he hyper-extended it in the 1st quarter. He did try and play on and they even threw him forward but was obviously no good. There'd be no way he'll play him this week, and hopefully he'd avoid the knife for it as well and gets a decent preseason.
  18. I'm sure this is why we hear about 2 way running all the time (I don't think they just reserve the term for offense and defense), Roos sees the value in setting up the play very methodically. This nearly goes against the natural instinct which would be to be running forward to receive the ball. They want guys running forward but also others to run to help set up the play, first part seems to be sinking in, just need to get the skills together and hope we've got players forward to actually finish the job (and also have the confidence to kick it to them).
  19. Got to love what Roos and co are able to do with the players, I never thought Barry would respond after what Hill had done in the 2nd quarter but his second half was a great sign of things to come. For mine I don't think he'll be anywhere near a tagger over the longer term but is a nice way to learn the game. I could see why Mich has been in the 2s for a while, he really does some great in and under stuff but still gets a little lost in transition. Once he gets that consistent 2 way running mindset the coaches want I think he'll be a very regular player.
  20. Haven't been to a dome game this year, does anyone know with the new ticketing requirements if our membership cards just scan at the gates like at the 'G???
  21. For anyone who was there and watched the game, did JHK play? He wasn't named in the team but on the AFL site they have JHK, Clisby and Harmes as our best?
  22. Highly doubt Syd would throw in Jones, for nothing else than he's in a position where they'll be potentially lacking in a couple of years as their players retire (as McVeigh, Shaw, Malckeski etc get towards the end). If we we're to off something like pick 4 for Mitchell and needed steak knives I'd suggest it might be someone like Tim Membrey, a young forward who is way down the pecking order and might want out for greater opportunity's.
  23. Jetta rubbed out, so assuming Terlich is injured and out as well, I think that means Nicho stays in. For mine: Out - Jetta, Terlich and Salem (rest/run at Casey) In - JHK, Mackenzie and Blease Depending on injury I'd let MacDonald have aother rest, Freo doesn't have monster forwards, so with Chip back he can take Pav.
