  1. Poor bloke, I can't imagine how hard it would have been to make this decision, he always gave his all for the club and seemed to have genuine care about the other's at the club. Good luck with the recovery and future.
  2. Let's be honest, this article is written by Essendon's/Hird's biggest fan. This is a way for Robbo to drum up some sympathy for them by leveling it at a club that's easily attacked at the moment. I don't mind listening or reading what he write's but when its about Essendon or gets another club involved with their mess, it's a massive waste of time. Of course we were never going to be found to bring the game into disrepute, we never hired the guy and he only dealt with the Doc, who didn't inform the club of their dealings.
  3. Glad we're being pretty conservative with the guys this year, the slightest little knock and it's straight out. There's over 3 weeks to go until the real stuff so heaps of time for the likes of Dawes, Viney, Salem, Garlo and maybe even Clark to prove their fitness, if Roos has them in his Round 1 plans.
  4. I think we have gone for an instant replacement if Chip or Col go down, looking ahead, next year's draft is full of key talls and I would imagine the recruiting team would be thinking we can get a future KPB next year, rather than speculate on a young guy this year. Having said that I hope if he gets the chance he does really well, go go gadget georgiou!
  5. Now the draft is over, we can probably better assess our needs when it comes to rookies. Whilst I'm no talent watcher so not going to give predictions on who we might pick up I would think of the 4 picks we have - 2 might go on tall defenders, 1 on another small forward and the other either on a raw mid or ruck project. Any thoughts on what type of players we need?
  6. So the talk is now that Scharenberg has feet issue's, which is why we flew him over to get checked out. Not sure if that means he'll slide to us, or even past us, but whenever there's talk of a reasonable prospect being injured it's always followed with the names Judd and Selwood who of course fell because of injury concerns. Not at all saying he'll be anywhere near that good, they just always highlight those who slid because of injury who go onto be stars, I'd prefer if they also mentioned those who came in with some concerns and then never made it, so we could have some ideas that clubs are either very good or lucky when it comes at rehabing the young guys to become good players. 7. FB: Terlich, Frawley, Garland HB: Grimes, McDonald, Dunn C: Toupas, Viney, Trengove HF: Watts, Dawes, Tyson FF: Hogan, Clark, Howe Foll: Gawn, N Jones, Vince Int: McKenzie, Blease, M Jones Sub: Michie I haven't included anyone not currently confirmed on the list - pick 9, Cross and other draft picks may well come in. I think we need to have Dunn in the team at this stage, I'm in favor of the back 6 having 4 taller guys rather than 3 tall/3 re-bounders as most have suggested. I'm also assuming Clark is up and going enough to give Gawn a chop out in the ruck. Still think we are a tall back (as back up) and small forward short
  8. The reality is, over the last 10 years there's only been 2 or 3 times when pick 2 is significantly in front of pick 9. This is also often dependent on injuries as well. So any deal that includes us getting good/promising young player/s and pick 9 might work out massively in our favor. I trust that Roos, Taylor and Viney will not be doing this just for the sake of it, and if they keep or trade 2, that's because they deem it the right the call.
  9. I imagine getting Vince or Lyons just got a tiny bit harder with Polec nominating Port. Still worth a go, but the Crows might not be as keen to trade now.
  10. Lets be honest this came from Greg Denham, so I wouldn't bet the farm on this. The clubs that might be interested in adding an experienced ruckman would be (in no particular order) - Bris, GWS, Syd, WB, Carl, and maybe GC. All others have at least one good ruck and some backup. Maybe we could work in Jamar with pick 2? He's our steak knives to get a good player, reasonable pick and steak knives?
  11. HS with the stroy http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/hawthorn-midfielder-shane-savage-nominates-carlton-as-preferred-new-home/story-fn69a32t-1226735533838
  12. The only way I see this working out is if Shaw ends up going to Geelong and GWS see Scharenberg as their half back general (I see guys like Plowman and Davis as keys rather than organisers) and would pick him up at 2. Even with Adams leaving I don't think they'd be losing out too much with another mid going - they have heaps of them. Personally I think he'd be a good get, but we'll be waiting right to near the end of the trade period before any movement.
  13. I hope we get a little creative, maybe even jump in with some other trades going on. For example instead of just pick 2 for Shiel, how about we try and work in with Sydney as well. They have to try and work out getting something for Mumford. Might work like this- we give pick 2 and 22 (col's compo) and get Shiel (GWS), Smith and pick 31 (Syd). GWS get pick 2 and Mumford and lose Shiel (us) and pick 20 and 22 Syd lose Mumford and pick 31 and get pick's 20 and 22 Just throwing it out that a little bit of creativity might get us more than just a straight pick for player.
  14. My first assumption was that Rockliff requests a trade, therefore his value significantly decreases. Plus Longer has told them he's gone (or as good as), so this deal although not ideal for Brisbane, is something they might consider rather than just losing Longer for 19 and that's it. I'd only want Savage if he's the steak knives because I don't think he's worth a second rounder. If we make players want to come for us, and this will take cash, then it strengthens our ability to be involved in trading.
  15. Whilst I think pick 2 would be slight overs, I think we could get involved with helping with some of the other Bris boys who want to get home. I think a 3 way trade where we end up with Rocky, and their first pick for pick 2 maybe pick 21 (Col's compo) and another team gets the Bris player they want and we get something (maybe a frindge player) from that other team.
  16. Assuming we get a 2nd rounder for Col, I would think we could get involved in a 3 way trade with the Hawks and Bris and end up with Savage. This is assuming a number of other factors fall into place. Like Rockliff requesting a trade. We trade pick 2 and our 2nd round compo (pick 21??) Bris sends Rockliff and their first round pick 6 to us and Longer to Haw Hawks send their first round to Bris (19) and Savage to us. We end up with Rockliff, pick 6 and Savage Bris get picks 2, 19 and 21 Hawks get Longer Pretty Win-Win-Win for all??
  17. There'll be a lot who jump on here and say how crap he was, but he really was brought in as a depth player to cover injuries. For mine he did exactly what we needed him too, yes he's no world beater and unless Roos does something special with him, he shouldn't be in our best 22, but you do need blokes like this on the list in case someone goes down. Plus he's pretty low paid and didn't cost us anything (considering it seems Gysberts is going to be delisted).
  18. I was going to say that Roos might be trying to get him to be a Goodes type of player - remember Goodes won a brownlow as a small ruckman/big midfielder - not saying that Watts is going to go anywhere near the brownlow or be as good as Goodes, but I'd imagine Roos sees Watts as a similar type of player.
  19. I think it will all depend on who the coach is, someone with runs on the board like Roos will probably not feel the need to slash and burn like a newer coach. I get the impression that Roos would have taken stock of the list and might make minimal changes this year, and see what he can get out of players. For mine, and I'm not fully aware of the contract status, I see the following delistments: Gillies, Davis, Tynan, along with the 3 retirements, that make's 6 (senior list). Hogan comes in so we look at 5 coming in. I can't see Magner or Couch being upgraded so they go, along with the injured Strak. Clisby stays on the rookie list and we get 3 new guys on there.
  20. Anyone know what Rodan's injury is? The website says he was off for scans on Tuesday but as of yet there's been no word on them. Surely if its semi serious that'll be the end of his career. Given we got him for pick 88, and was brought in as cover for the younger guys, I think he did his job for us.
  21. Simple matter of not rewarding them in the 3rd round of the draft. Probably doesn't mean a lot by then, 3rd round drafting's very hit or miss, but I wouldn't be happy if they were let back into the draft in a better position than us.
  22. I often have a look on here, but this is the first time I've posted. Have a read of this, it's a great article that should put some minds at ease - not Trengove's but I don't think a cream is all that bad. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/dealing-with-dank-20130426-2ik8y.html
