  1. So, My Grandfather played footy for the MFC reserves between the wars and was in the team that won almost every year. Since then ALL of my family were given the choice to support Melbourne or never speak of football. A pretty easy choice to make in my mind. All of my cousins are supporters of the MFC and their kids are and more importantly the partners were converted or accepted the MFC. My GF is a MAD (i made it capital for a reason) Sydney swans supporter. I cannot really hold that against her as she lives in Sydney, Sponsors the club and the players know her etc. When we started seeing each other i told her i would convert her and she laughed. She told me there was no way she would ever. Her best friend is a Richmond supporter and when i took them all to the Rich v Melb game a few weeks back it was Dad, Mum, My GF, Her Bestie, Her besties Husband and then me. Obviously Her Besties Husband and myself were finding places to watch the game in the MCC that served refreshing Beveridge’s. We would occasionally come back to check up on the family. As the game was a ripper we decided to watch the last Qtr from the seats. As it was getting exciting i started to hear my GF yelling "Go Dees". This was a statement i thought i would never hear out of her mouth. Let alone as she sat next to her crazy mad Richmond supporting best friend. It’s not a membership and scarf just quite yet but its baby steps in the right direction.
  2. it would probably be 998 pages with "we didnt do anything wrong" 1 of "Stand by hird" and 1 with a picture of Jobe
  3. Good to see Dunn recognised for his effort this week.. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/afl-team-of-the-week-for-round-13-with-jai-bednall/story-fnelctok-1226958655860
  4. Im pretty sure that after 16 months of this that all the other clubs would have been able to "find" paperwork and have procedures "implimented" that are in accordance with the workcover act that predate the day it broke out. If they dont then they would be a little silly.
  5. IMO the challenging in court looks to me like the EFC are backed into a corner and they know it. Sure its going to drag the process out, sure they want it all to go away but when your left with no avenues of retreat you can either bend over and cop it or stand and fight. I know if this was happening to us i would want my club to explore every possible loophole and option there is. Im not saying i want them to get off this thing. If they (ASADA) have enough evidence (and i believe they do) then the people involved need to face the music.
  6. I wouldnt like to have dank as my knight in shining armour riding in to the hearing and giving his "awesome" evidence that would clear my club.. Im so happy we didnt employ him in our club yes i know we had some involvement with him but lucky we didnt do what essendon did
  7. I just keep thiking if only we could have been playing like this (current few weeks form) from the begining of the season. I have no doubt we would have knocked off St Kilda, and possible GWS. West Coast i feel would have knocked us off. Either way that could have put us 6 and 6. I know its silly to think of the what ifs but im liking the improvement of our team and astually looking forward to games now with more then just "i hope we win" attitude..
  8. Oh i remember when my hatred for Essendon started... Living in Ascot Vale from 1999-2004 going out to local pubs and clubs and having to put up with smug clowns carrying on about the bombers.. Pretty much put them up with Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond supporters..
  9. You should try to bring the phraise "one point" into every conversation.. eg, if they make a statement just resond with "if i could make one point....." It will eventually wear them down..
  10. I think they should change the moto to, Hide the Stash i think it suits....
  11. The roar coming from the crowd the last 2 min was amazing. Obviously i heard it through the TV but still. Im so envious for all the guys and girls that were able to be there to watch...
  12. It was a great game and its great to see the boys actually put it together after falling behind.
  13. I was at a pub in Canberra with one watching, He was pretty smug before the game saying that they would smash us because of the previous weeks events and having everything to play for.. He was so proud of his club he was wearing a red and black band around his wrist (that his daughter made, those stupid rubber things) and that was it.. I was in my Melb polo, hoodie, scarf etc... I may have mentioned they may as well go out with a bang because itll be the last game many will play for a while, He responded with saying that he would give me a 40pt lead and they will still win.. I refused because i wanted to win fair and square.. He had kittens when Watts kicked the goal in the last and almost walked out.. Then when the needle dodger kicked two in a row.. he was standing up pointing and laughing calling me a choker.. It was quite a nice afternoon especially with 19 seconds to go. (i may have been watching through my fingers as the kick sailed thru)
  14. Im so happy that he has found his role in the team and is able to perform it so well..
  15. Well i cant recall if i have ever made any comments about current players here but there is something i would like to apologize for, I would like to apologize to all of the MFC fans for my actions. In 1994 i bought my first MFC jumper and promptly put my favourite player on it. Number 5. We all know how that season(s) ended up. In 2001 I purchased a new jumper and changed to 22. In 2003 another jumper but this time number 11 as im a tall lanky thing i thought i might go for Jolly. In 2009 once more another jumper and went back to number 22 In 2011 another one and as many of us did i put 24 on the back And last year i purchased the "new" playing jumper with the MFC embossed on the front and as Mitch was a monster of a man and i had a massive man crush i put 11 on the back. I have noticed a couple of things. I have a addiction to buying MFC gear, that’s one thing and the second thing is whatever number i put on tend to be cursed. I saw this trend last year but i thought the number 11 was a safe bet. For that guys i am truly sorry and don’t worry i wont be buying any jumpers for a few years and if i do then i wont put a number on the back.
  16. I still think he has already sorted a deal. I think it was sorted in meetings last year like Sydney and Franklin. He wants to play finals and like every player so should he. Does he want to walk into a team who already has a proven finals team. A premiership window thats wide open. If he does then he is SO gone its not funny. Does he want to play finals in a team that built him up, that he has spent years with, that it will mean so much more playing in. Well then he will stay. I would love for him to stay a Demon, i would enjoy watching him run out for the Dees in September. I honestly think that is not too far away with our team/squad and direction under Roos and the FD. The question is does Frawley want to wait that long or does he want to do it now? As i said, i think a deal was sorted last year. Well before Roos, well before Tyson/Vince/JKH/Salem/Cross (no particular order) and WELL before the performance of the club this year.
  17. I think the brown and gold clowns might be looking for a solid defender and after Buddy left them with a lot to spend, Lake might not go another year it might be a spot vacant. I dont want him to go but as it has played out this year, Roos is straight forward and might have had a sit down and asked "what are the chances of you being in red and blue next year?" and was told not good to which Roos went about building his defence for the future and knowing Spud is a good posability of not being there. I could be wrong and im not speaking with any insider knowledge etc but thats what i think. The buddy deal was dont the year previous and was sat on for a season. whats to say the hawks didnt do the same. I like our defence as it stands. I would love to have Spud in there too but the boys down back are awesome.
  18. I want all of our "recycled" players to play out of their skins against their old clubs. It has happened to us for years where our old players better against us then other teams. Why not us this time. Vince did it lets hope Dawes does on monday.
  19. Thats three off their 2014 list this year Bootsma, Scotland and Duigan Keep this up and they can have a complete rebuild in two years
  20. Yeah thats all good.. I just dont see how someone can claim to have a second team in the same competition. I do like your definition tho Jezza..
  21. I know of a LOT of people who have adopted GWS as their "second" team here in Canberra.. What is a second team really.. MFC and only MFC for me
