  1. Because, from the reports, the transgressions this year aren't to the same level as last. Are they isolated? Clearly not. But if he can have even the semblance of an uninterrupted pre-season, and get back to 80-85% of the player he was, you'll get much more for him than we will. The questions is whether it's worth it to stick with him for another 12 months. I think it is, others don't. That's fine. But if we trade him out without a quality replacement in the midfield, we might as well start the rebuild now.
  2. But all this year did was tank his value. The choice is to move him out for chips now, or hope he can cash in on his seeming better attitude (but acknowledging its still not great) and doing a preseason to then trade him for at least some semblance of value. Unless he is having an absolutely toxic effect on the group, why would you throw him out for nothing? It will kill our list going forward
  3. Sorry, but this is not a normal employer/employee relationship. Just offloading him for peanuts has the potential to set this club's list back years, and frankly I'm not interested in sitting where we were from 2007-2017 again. If the club believes they need to trade him, either it's for a decent return or we make it work for 12 mths and try to maximise his value. You don't just offload a guy to the detriment of your own position
  4. Given the club said they didn't know about the meeting, I don't think Pert did. Geelong seems to be off Clarry's own bat, probably due to previous interest and an understanding that they could help support him with his issues.
  5. Yep, get that. But given he is absolutely at his lowest market value, I think we need to suck it up and keep assisting him. He's clearly made progress, and while it might be something that needs managing going forward, I think the upside is worth it
  6. My issue with the Clarry situation: Geelong aren't courting him if they think he's cooked. They clearly believe, with the right support around him, he can return to at least 90-95% of the player he was, which is still one of the best in the comp. Which means either a) we don't or b) we won't or can't put that same support around him. If it's a, fair enough. But it sounds more like b. And I have no interest in watching him get back to his best anywhere but Melbourne, simply because we won't put any more time or effort into it. We don't go close to winning the flag without a fit and firing midfield, and a fit Clarry is still a key part of that. No draftee, short of a Daicos or Reid type (of which Ashcroft is the only one this year), will help fill that void. If we trade Clarry, we might as well admit we've given up on the next 2-3 years, which means on May, Gawn, Viney and probably Trac's time, and get started on a full rebuild. It's time for the club to shut up, get its [censored] together (including at board and executive level) and knuckle down for a huge preseason.
  7. For those who haven't got the email
  8. "Again attainable". He didn't end up being attainable last year!
  9. It seems like the majority, including me, absolutely understand that the feasibility study is just one step in the right direction. However, a number of board members, and this CEO, were brought on specifically to solve the home base problem. You can't honestly say that, if they have progressed this without a strong belief that it would go ahead, that they should stay? It has taken all of 1 day for doubts to be raised about whether this goes ahead. Now, if this doubts are unfounded, happy days. I'm not saying their right or wrong. But if it does eventuate that this doesn't go ahead, after all the time and money spent, yes, I think Pert and the board should resign.
  10. If this is the case, and this doesn't get the go ahead, Pert and the board should resign.
  11. Injuries will be the main thing holding us back. Oliver and Trac getting fit May, Lever and Gawn staying fit. I saw in his most recent IG post that Lever has an arm in a sling.
  12. Jack Martin delisted by the Blues
  13. https://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/jake-stringer-done-at-essendon-as-bombers-drama-erupts/news-story/da9cbb7709bf960d625fd23fc3c6858a Putting this one in here in the hope it'll stay non-MFC trade talk
  14. I did wonder if this was the same guy, or if they used that contact to then bring someone else in
  15. Huge loss, especially with Tayla out. Good opportunity for the younger talls to stand up
  16. Zorko a premiership player? No
  17. At least they have him in a Dees guernsey and not a Carlton one
  18. I'm torn by this. Ron clearly didn't want to cup named after him, and I wonder if his stance would have changed for this? I see his family has embraced it
  19. Mickey replied to rpfc's topic in Melbourne Demons
Who's your pick rpfc? For what it's worth, I'm Team Max. I like Rick but I'm not sure he needs the C. Trac would have been a good interim for 3-4 until one of the younger guys was ready. I can't see them going back to Jack
  20. Not sure this is fair in this situation. I've known a few people from 'older' generations who have moved back home to be closer to family and support networks after having kids.
  21. We could also end up like GC...
  22. They actually haven't beaten anyone outside the bottom 3 since rnd 15. 21 June, when they knocked Geelong off
  23. Whether it's warranted or not, other people close to Trac being dragged into this, either by the media or the club, is certainly not going to help diffuse the situation. Especially if Trac's camp thinks the club is leaking against them
