  1. ^^ what he said. Fortunately I have another engagement - a funeral aka celebration of life - that I think will be far more enjoyable! I hope there's some tequila handy.
  2. Garry on TFS tonight following Damian Barrett's take on Prestia being courted by the Dees: "and he's (Prestia) a big fan of the Demons".
  3. Sam spoke at the Premium Members' room last Sunday. From memory he said that he hoped to play the last couple of games at Casey, and he certainly said that he would play finals with Casey if they made it.
  4. 1. How did you start following the Demons? I thought it was because my aunt (the mother of former radio announcer Denis Scanlan) was a Dees supporter, but my mum told me some years ago that when I attended the YMCA in the early '60's one of the leaders was a Melbourne supporter and it was most probably his influence.. 2. Who was your very first favourite player and why? Robbie Flower - skill and grace. 3. Best moment as a fan? Round 18 1987. 4. Worst moment as a fan? Preliminary Final 1987 5. Anything else you would like to share? I was a cheer squad member in the early '60's. We'd either sleep out on the Friday night or get the first train (4:15 AM) to the ground. We'd spend the best part of Friday night tearing up phone books and then on Saturday morning raid the toilet blocks in the Olympic Park precinct for toilet rolls (to use as streamers). When St Kilda moved to Linton Street we lit a bonfire outside the ground on the Friday night. The timber came from the ground fence. The Saints cheer squad showed up and let us in to the St Johns room where stretchers and blankets were laid out. I was 15 years old and the goings on in that room were part of my sex education.
  5. As far as I'm aware, King is still a rookie. I assume you're saying that we can elevate him if we declare another on our list as a LTI?
  6. Looking at Laverde's VFL stats. they have been far from flattering. He's only been listed in their top 6 players once, when they creamed the Cats. In that game he had 15 disposals. I reckon he's averaging less than 10 disposals a game. He went at pick 20, just behind Langford at pick 17.
  7. I doubt that James is the son of Wayne. James grew up in a family of Dees supporters, including Mum and Dad. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/south-east/lifelong-melbourne-football-club-fan-james-harmes-fulfils-his-demon-dream-through-draft/story-fngnvoeu-1226769698721
  8. Lance is a Dons' supporter who has made more than 46,000 posts on BF since he joined 10 years ago. A peanut of the highest order, with many on BF ignoring his posts.
  9. I suspect you've got the wrong Malcolm Hooper. The Malcolm Hooper who manages Hypermed Clinic is not a pharmacist. He is a chiropractor who was de-registered in August 2103 for misconduct. (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-order/dodgy-chiropractor-struck-off-for-two-years-for-misconduct/story-fni0fee2-1226690450599) From memory he charged the EFC $60,000 for treatment to 34 players prior to the 2012 ANZAC day game. Possibly the only invoice the Bombers have been able to produce. Snake oil salesman first class.
  10. Apologies if this has been mentioned. It appears that the title of Chip Le Grand's (aka Large Fries) upcoming book on the ASAGA has got Martin Hardie's nose out of joint: https://twitter.com/TraceyLeeHolmes/status/606389586869157889
  11. Tony Jones (intro to the CH9 sports report): "Melbourne's Jesse Hogan wins Rising Star nomination - but is he homesick?" It doesn't take much ...
  12. Hunt was named in the Casey Development League side today. It'll be his first competitive game in over a year. I'll find out a little more about him from my golfing partner tomorrow. Pretty sure PR was grooming him for the HBF pre-season because of his pace and kick (quite reasonable). He tweaked his back around Feb so there's been no contact stuff. If his back goes again or he doesn't get up to speed pretty quickly it's safe to say he'll be de-listed at seasons end.
  13. Agree. Either on a Wing or at the bounce.
  14. There are a few more stunts coming up. Interesting (sorta) to hear Garry say that Montagne did not respond well to the stunt pulled on him.
  15. Mike Sheahan sat in for Mark Robinson on AFL360 on Monday night. He explained the circumstances as he was sitting near John Burns. He named the Richmond Official (I haven't heard of him) and said the he (the official) was sitting immediately in front of Burns with his two young children and early in the game he swung around and said to Burns "what did you say?" Sheahan said the official was visibly upset. I suspect that Burns may have used the word "terrorist" and the official misheard him. Burns could well have said "Houli looks like a Muslim terrorist". There's been a gross over reaction IMO
  16. The Toigs number of changes? Drummond, McIntosh, Hunt ... Maric injured last year?
  17. I liked the game of Watts playing in the guts in round 1 last year. From memory he was one of our best, and one of his best games for the year. Roos had gone into the season saying he was going to play him in the mid-field. I know he had other games where he was found wanting when he played in the mid-field, but I'd like to see him given another crack.
  18. I'm travelling to the Alice to see the Dees but I refuse to travel 20km up the Surfcoast Hwy to watch us play the [censored]. It's the principle. My 16 game membership (all Vic games) does not get me entry.
  19. If, like me, you don't have IQ, you'll need to set your alarm for 3am Wed or 11pm Thursday may be a better option.
  20. Yep, also wrong. Can't see how Dank can be found guilty. Good for footy though.
  21. According to the Ess board on BF, Hal Hunter didn't fit the profile of the player (a 19 year old). Hunter may have been 18 at the time. Opinion of some Ess supporters was that 'Sarah' was Heppel's mum.
  22. There's a couple of dead-set nutters over at Bomber Blitz, led by one Ben Doolan. I'd certainly wouldn't want him following my every move.
  23. About 4 names suggested on BF. NLM, SL, KR and a current SANL playing-coach.
  24. As an aside, Go_Blues is back posting on BF. He has been laying low since he posted what appeared to be a snippet of ASADA's evidence, supposedly passed onto him by one of the charged. Go_Blues reckons that two coaches (one current, one former) will be issued with IN's. Goodwin's name was mentioned, but Go_Blues said that he wasn't one of the two he was thinking of.
