  2. I'm predicting a 3-4 goal loss. Grimes is the only reliable kick in the back six. Also, against both Essendon and Brisbane we got smashed in centre clearances and at the stoppages. Without Scully, there's no-one that I can see who can turn that around. Possibly Trengove if he's fully fit (I doubt he is). Jones and Beamer are not the answer across the centre - Jones continually gets caught, and Beamer with his Daniel Ward-like long bombs. I predict that Jetta will be named the sub and by the last quarter will be playing in the guts, both for his pace and tackling ability (which was evident against Brisbane).
  3. The sub must be one of the four listed on the I/C and must be named no later than 90 minutes prior to match time. Tapscott won't be the sub
  4. Clubs are not required to name the sub until 90 min. prior to the game.
  5. I can't see Bail playing on Goodes. There's an 11cm difference in height and 17kg in weight. That's a total mis-match. Garland would be my choice.
  6. The average height of your spine would be about 186cm (about 6' in the old money). Probably the shortest in the last 20 years of AFL footy.
  7. To see (and hear) Cam at his best you need to get to the B&F's.

    Ricky Nixon

'Spida' Everitt may be selling Ricky's talents short. Nixon may well have found time between his other nefarious activities to make the girl porridge and iron her school uniform. I can't see any need for the latter though. I suspect she's been wagging school for some time.
  9. The main feature I like is his high efficiency - he rarely wastes a possession and, for the most part, always has time to assess his options. I just wish Beamer would follow suit.
  10. I too thought it was a great doco. I liked the loyalty of Tasmania's Daniel Jago, and the honest self-analysis of Sydney's Daen Lomas, the two boys who missed making it through to the AFL.
  11. Great choice. Onya Greeny. It probably means that Aaron will miss out down the track, with Grimes the Captain in Waiting.

  13. My guess is that it's a year 9 media student's assignment, or produced by a kid on work experience.

  15. Any idea on the shorts we are to wear with the clash strip? My understanding is that the League does not like socks and shorts to clash, so they are unlikely to let us wear navy shorts if the opposition - Port, Essendon, West Coast etc are wearing black or blue shorts. It's more for a player's benefit (less likely to handball to an opponent if bent over, say) than for TV viewers and the like. But that's just my understanding.

  17. I can't believe more of you don't pay by direct debit (over a 12 month period). Painless.
  18. At the Kevin Bartlett oval in Richmond, apparently they just mow one half and then brush the grass from the other half over it. I wonder if there'll be any cost cutting measures employed at the Junction?
  19. Computer Graphics 101 The resolution of images is measured in pixels per inch (ppi). Most personal computer displays have resolutions that vary from 72 to 96 ppi.. Usually the former. So if you take a pic with your camera set at 300ppi there is no point posting it on the web with that resolution as it won't be viewed at 300ppi (making sense?). You would do this however, if someone wanted to print the pic as 72ppi is not suitable. But the higher the resolution the greater the load time. The player images used on the banner were taken from the web and were 72ppi. You can use Photoshop to increase the resolution to 300ppi for example but it is usually not advisable for images containing important sharp detail (faces, contrasting shapes, clean lines) as it will produce noticeable pixel edges and fuzzy tones in certain areas. When designing banners and the like you work with images that have the greatest ppi you can If we use high res, we can manipulate that, then save it as 72 dpi and it will be clear on the screen. With high res you can always reduce but you can't always blow up a low res. So unless a Dlander can provide us with hires images from their personal collection, we are not going get a 'better' banner. As far as the choice of pics, there were only two of LJ that were suitable. As a 'panel member' working on the banner I chose the second as I didn't like the 'bunched jumper'. A home jumper was overlaid at the suggestion of another panel member (this was a very democratic project!). The outstretched arms had to be cropped. As far as the pics of Scull and Greeny, most pics on the 'net showed them with their mouth open or tongue out. There were many other issues involved in the choice of image – pics with the pink jumper, pics with strange skin tones etc End of lesson. You've all done very well.
  20. I think the new logo looks great. The red Demonland font sits well with player jumpers. Jim's cap is enough white. The choice of players is good - fits with the 7 who polled the most votes. I think a logo featuring our full list (plus rookies and coaches) would be over the top, not to mention 8-screens wide!
  21. You need a screen 1280 pixels or wider for the 'sign in' module not to overlap. This messageboard has a variable width template, so that it adjusts to the size of the screen it is being viewed on. I can only assume you have a (much older) screen which is only 1024 pixels wide. Do yourself a favour and buy yourself a higher resolution screen (assuming your computer can support it). You'll pay about $130. I don't know what DL looks on iphone as I don't have one, but generally speaking iphones and the like are best suited to viewing sites specifically designed for them, such as Twitter and Facebook.
  22. DeezMan, any chance you could pm me an editable copy (psd) of your banner? I have a graphics tablet and can eliminate Greeny's glove. I also think this image needs replacing (red?). Are higher res pics of the players available? I don't want to be picky. I just think this board, in appearance and content, is significantly better than our opponents, and I'd like it to continue that way.
  23. From someone who builds websites, I could suggest wrapping the messageboard into a site, including a backgound image/s. An option then would be to have, say, different background images for the messageboards - a heritage background, a 'newbies' bg etc. I could possibly do one or two, although getting good copyright-free images may be an issue. I quite like the Bombers site and here's the background I did for my local club.
