  1. I assume it's because we're after a second round pick in exchange for Howe and if Howe is on his way to GCS they're likely to have more than one second-rounder to trade.
  2. Bell heading home to Brisbane for personal reasons according to SEN this arvo.
  3. Ah ... Carl (not Cam) Peterson. Yep, a bit of a plodder with the Hawks but may be good for us. Just hope we re-sign Cam Pedersen.
  4. Frosty was the guest speaker in the Premium Members room some 5 weeks ago and said then he planned to be back in time to play finals for Casey.
  5. Apologies if it's been mentioned previously, but is Tom Papley the grandson of former Swan Max Papley? I know Max moved to Bunyip and has a son David. Tom is from Bunyip.
  6. Happy to see Harmes keep his spot. Reckon he shows a bit and hope the FD persist with him for the remainder of the season. Would certainly have him before Riley and Michie. Same for ANB.
  7. First, it's a great night for anyone yet to attend. Unfortunately I'll be enjoying the sunny climes of the Costa Brava. I think Dunn may pip either Cross or Garlett.
  8. I witnessed the 11 goals at the 'G, including the scissor kick, but a goal at Arctic Park is the one I remember most. A great piece of play from the middle saw Jacko run to 15m almost straight in front only to dribble the ball through for a point. From memory Langford took the kickout and proceeded to put it out of bounds (untouched) just on the 50m arc in front of the small scoreboard at the Wellington Road end.. Jacko was closest to the ball, ran 30m, picked the ball out of the gutter (very deep boundary lines if you remember), ran to where the 50m arc met the boundary line and roosted the ball on his left foot through for a goal.
  9. Pretty much agree with your analysis and line-up, although I reckon I'd have T-Mac on Brown and probably Garland on Waite. Brown hurt us last time (4 goals?) and uses his body more than Waite. Howe may be on option on Waite - similar types of players?
  10. Hard to soar like an eagle when you're a turkey.
  11. The reason for Jayden Hunt's scratching?
  12. Gee, a poor decision by Neeld and co. Who would've thought!
  13. If you look at his stats for the 34 games he's played (over 3 seasons?), they're actually pretty good. We may see how far he's come next week when he comes up against Goldy (away from ES).
  14. ^^ what he said. Fortunately I have another engagement - a funeral aka celebration of life - that I think will be far more enjoyable! I hope there's some tequila handy.
  15. Garry on TFS tonight following Damian Barrett's take on Prestia being courted by the Dees: "and he's (Prestia) a big fan of the Demons".
  16. Sam spoke at the Premium Members' room last Sunday. From memory he said that he hoped to play the last couple of games at Casey, and he certainly said that he would play finals with Casey if they made it.
  17. 1. How did you start following the Demons? I thought it was because my aunt (the mother of former radio announcer Denis Scanlan) was a Dees supporter, but my mum told me some years ago that when I attended the YMCA in the early '60's one of the leaders was a Melbourne supporter and it was most probably his influence.. 2. Who was your very first favourite player and why? Robbie Flower - skill and grace. 3. Best moment as a fan? Round 18 1987. 4. Worst moment as a fan? Preliminary Final 1987 5. Anything else you would like to share? I was a cheer squad member in the early '60's. We'd either sleep out on the Friday night or get the first train (4:15 AM) to the ground. We'd spend the best part of Friday night tearing up phone books and then on Saturday morning raid the toilet blocks in the Olympic Park precinct for toilet rolls (to use as streamers). When St Kilda moved to Linton Street we lit a bonfire outside the ground on the Friday night. The timber came from the ground fence. The Saints cheer squad showed up and let us in to the St Johns room where stretchers and blankets were laid out. I was 15 years old and the goings on in that room were part of my sex education.
  18. As far as I'm aware, King is still a rookie. I assume you're saying that we can elevate him if we declare another on our list as a LTI?
  19. Looking at Laverde's VFL stats. they have been far from flattering. He's only been listed in their top 6 players once, when they creamed the Cats. In that game he had 15 disposals. I reckon he's averaging less than 10 disposals a game. He went at pick 20, just behind Langford at pick 17.
  20. I doubt that James is the son of Wayne. James grew up in a family of Dees supporters, including Mum and Dad. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/leader/south-east/lifelong-melbourne-football-club-fan-james-harmes-fulfils-his-demon-dream-through-draft/story-fngnvoeu-1226769698721
  21. Lance is a Dons' supporter who has made more than 46,000 posts on BF since he joined 10 years ago. A peanut of the highest order, with many on BF ignoring his posts.
  22. I suspect you've got the wrong Malcolm Hooper. The Malcolm Hooper who manages Hypermed Clinic is not a pharmacist. He is a chiropractor who was de-registered in August 2103 for misconduct. (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-order/dodgy-chiropractor-struck-off-for-two-years-for-misconduct/story-fni0fee2-1226690450599) From memory he charged the EFC $60,000 for treatment to 34 players prior to the 2012 ANZAC day game. Possibly the only invoice the Bombers have been able to produce. Snake oil salesman first class.
  23. Apologies if this has been mentioned. It appears that the title of Chip Le Grand's (aka Large Fries) upcoming book on the ASAGA has got Martin Hardie's nose out of joint: https://twitter.com/TraceyLeeHolmes/status/606389586869157889
  24. Tony Jones (intro to the CH9 sports report): "Melbourne's Jesse Hogan wins Rising Star nomination - but is he homesick?" It doesn't take much ...
  25. Hunt was named in the Casey Development League side today. It'll be his first competitive game in over a year. I'll find out a little more about him from my golfing partner tomorrow. Pretty sure PR was grooming him for the HBF pre-season because of his pace and kick (quite reasonable). He tweaked his back around Feb so there's been no contact stuff. If his back goes again or he doesn't get up to speed pretty quickly it's safe to say he'll be de-listed at seasons end.
