  1. One thing that Toumpas seems to have done so far this year is tackle, or at least put pressure on the ball. That alone needs to put him in the mix, his endurance is also excellent and he's picking up his speed. Aside from all of that, we could've done with some of his enthusiasm today.
  2. Thought Brayshaw was good when he came on, but I don't think its outside the realms of possibility that Vanders and Frost come under threat. Don't think Frost added anything today.
  3. Really think that was the worst game I've seen from Jones, amazing really. Jamar got smashed but I don't think Spencer would've made a difference, Mumford is awesome. Think we just needed to be smarter in reading the stoppage, when it was getting clear that Mummy was getting on top we need to change our tactics.
  4. I'm going to the Adelaide game next week.................. A few have suggested we went too tall this week and I tend to agree. I'm thinking either Frost comes out, or goes back for Howe. JKH comes back in and we try to get some more speed around the ball. If Frost goes out then Dawes plays 2nd ruck.
  5. Well, don't think it's going to be such a straight forward, agreeable thread as last week. Seems like a few put their hand up at Casey which is pleasing. Names to consider bringing in: Toumpas, Grimes, JKH, Michie Who can we genuinely see moved out (don't say whole team)? Howe, Kent, Frost, Dawes (can't believe it would happen myself, but maybe). Haven't quite digested Canberra yet to offer my concrete changes, but interested in yours...
  6. Excellent to see. Selection this week is going to be very interesting!
  7. Can only be mental. They just literally stopped working hard.
  8. Been sitting here contemplating what to say on the shemozzle, hard to put something in to words. Quite alarming how poor Jones was, I'm assuming someone did a bang up job of tagging him out. Thought it was Ward in the 1st half, if it was then he did well in the 2nd to play as he did. GWS are scary good. Man Shiel is awesome, have him up there with Wines and Bontempelli as the future.
  9. Think it was said earlier, but the idea of being too top heavy seems instead to be by design by Roos and Co. Creates some serious match up problems for the GWS back line, if we can get some decent delivery then we should see a lot of marks inside 50. I'm backing our defenders to match up well on GWS, though there are obvious threats. Think McDonald definitely takes Cameron, Dunn will smash McCarthy and get right up his nose. Jetta to take Kelly, though I wouldn't mind him seeing him run a bit free and pick up Treloar or Greene. Worried about Treloar, what a gun. This game will be won in the midfield, Jamar needs to have a blinder. As does Tyson and Vince needs to impact from the first minute. Think Viney needs to run a bit freer, just get him to put pressure round the ball at every stoppage. Can't allow them easy clearances.
  10. Very tough for JKH, but like everyone else I agree it seemed the right option. First thing I want this week is to see that stupid moustache wiped off that McCarthy's face, bloke rubs me the wrong way. Looks like a complete plonker. He's in the Ben Brown category for me.
  11. And smother. People have mentioned the one resulting in the goal, but the time he threw himself at the ball in the center square stands out to me.
  12. I couldn't disagree more. All the best sides in the competition have players outside the 1's who would easily contribute if called upon. Was Sewell not good enough in the GF last year? He would've walked in to any side last year and racked up > 20 touches. Mzungo played resies last week. Tom Mitchell didn't get a guernsey. The best sides have 3, 4 or 5 players as depth, all of who can be called on to play a role and to play it better then their opponent. Below them, sure, they're not good enough (whether that be yet, or ever).
  13. I really like JKH's creativity, it's worth 1 or two goals a game. It's a tough one obviously, but kent or brayshaw for me (and toump obviously).
  14. Honestly mate, why watch then. I'm sick of this 'I watch every game we play with dread' drivel. While I might leave disappointed, I enter each game with hope. Why? Because I'm a SUPPORTER. Seriously. ... Commence vitriol.
  15. I take the point, and certainly his NAB cup performances seem to support your view. Man can it just be Saturday already!
  16. The 'give the kid a chance' wasn't necessarily directed at you. I actually think 20 is achievable primarily because he is one of our few obvious avenues to goal, just would hate to see a perpetual thread put up here this year on how much of a flop Hogan is.
  17. On 360 on Monday night they put up a table of prominent or up and coming key forwards, it showed the goals they kick in yr 1, 2, 3 etc. Across the board (and this incl. Brown, Buddy, Riewoldt, Cloke, Boyd) each player kicked single digits in their first year with the exception of Buddy who kicked 11 or something. Yr 2 wasn't significantly better (10-20), then things got interesting. Give the kid a chance for gods sake.
  18. I had considered that if he did go forward they might rotate Salem on to him as a bit of education, but I personally hope they don't because he'd get pantsed. Should add that he's apparently done a power of running, saw an interview with Rocket where he said it was impressive. So he could very well still play in the middle.
  19. Cross to Ablett maybe? If he goes forward it has to be Jetta. Realistically I don't think it matters who we play on him.
  20. Gee whiz, some of you blokes have been on Demonland for waaayy too long. Lighten up a tad.
  21. Don't know if you watched NAB dj4e but Grimes was definitely a positive, easily outplayed Garland.
  22. I tend to agree on Jones. Think he is somewhat limited but I reckon he's acquitted himself pretty well out there, collected some ball and generally running well. If he can iron out his skill errors he's got a long career ahead of him.
  23. With the knowledge of what that drug does to people, I just can't understand the appeal. Would these same blokes take Heroin? Idiots.
  24. Again I don't buy that. The kids who choose to play AFL aren't paying attention to fringe players on drugs, and frankly, neither are the mothers. Soccer isn't ingrained in the school systems like footy, its a competitor but not at the expense of AFL. And to say a laughing stock: Leaguies are constantly getting in trouble with the Law/p!ssing in their mouths/taking drugs/glassing women etc and Union can't even get 15k people in their heartland.
  25. Bad for Collingwood, bad for these boys. Bad for the sport? Reckon that's overplayed. AFL supporters are rusted on, the game won't suffer.
