  1. I was more focusing on his work at he stoppage today and he seemed to be second to the drop of the ball all day, looked slow and decidedly unathletic to me.
  2. I really do think JKH tries, but if we was playing that half forward role tonight then I tend to agree, we really do miss kent because he would give us that overlap and tackling pressure.
  3. Have to agree with one comment earlier about our inability to deal with the bigger bodes. It's not just at the stoppage, it's also the 1 on 1 contests as we come out of the D50. If we can't find a contest then you kick out and hope that well at least halve the contest or close enough anyway, but we just don't have the strength or talent I compete on most occasions and it just comes back in.
  4. Yeah I'd give Toumpas another shot. I'd like to re watch the game and try and look forward of the ball a bit, just try to work out what exactly is breaking down and who is responsible.
  5. Yeah spencer got owned tonight. He'll struggle every time against the athletic ruckman.
  6. Wouldn't mind seein Salem in the midfield for a bit.
  7. Have to say, looking at the team I struggle to see how Harmes will be offered another Rookie contract next year.
  8. Newton would have to be on notice as well. If Neal Bullen has a couple of screamers then there is the natural switch, particularly if Toumpas finally shows something. Toumpas has also shown a willingness to tackle this year, at all levels, as did ANB last week and Stretch the week before. Both ways.
  9. He aint gonna suffer no fool! Was being casual with the language. It'll be McCartney's way or no way at all.
  10. I'd say its happened several times in the past, but not from coaches who he respected - or anyone else respected for that matter - and I reckon Bailey treated him with kid gloves. Now with it coming from Roos and McCartney (McCartney won't suffer no fool) it would have to start to ring true.. wouldn't go astray to have a few of the players get in his ear too. Vince and Jones come to mind.
  11. Its pretty clear they've put him on notice. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a conversation somewhere along the lines of, "Jack, you need to work out for yourself if you want to play AFL footy, if you have a hunger for the contest. If you do, then you need to show us something this weekend otherwise our hand will be forced."
  12. They are compliant, its as simple as that. The players get asked to do something, if they do it they will be rewarded. Stretch has been repeatedly called coachable. Toumpas allegedly been doing everything they've asked of him. Michie doesn't tackle and focuses on racking up possessions, I'll bet my bottom dollar one of the people in Roos' mind when he mentioned selfish was Michie.
  13. To be fair, you could name just about anyone from their list and say the same thing. But yeah, scary. Heeney is going to be an absolute superstar!
  14. That's the second .hithouse comment I've seen from you tonight Clint, keep that up and I'll drop you for McKenzie.
  15. Doesn't tackle. Basic standards from Roos. I recall this was a bit of a knock on him from last year.
  16. Awesome work Dee, like the others after your post I thought this was an excellent post - definitely worthy of more than a 'like'.
  17. Thought JKH tried enough, about our player who tries to be creatve. Agree that Watts needs a spell now, the fear has to be will he ever bounce back. Is it worth Watts having a sit and moving Howe back forward? He did alright when he was today. Consider keeping grimes when Jetta comes back. McKenzie is shocking. When is Viney back?
  18. Dayle Garlett! What an idiot.
  19. From what we're hearing it sounds as if Spencer is really impressing. He has the ability to develop in to a very good, big, tap ruck man. If he can continue to consistently take 5 - 6 marks around the ground, then that is more then good enough output.
  20. Yep agree with this. Posted elsewhere that we'll lose the battle with Sandilands regardless, so focus on being better at ground level, try to read his taps.
  21. Been unsure where I stood on this weeks selections but I'm starting to think you're right. It doesn't matter who we bring in, Sandilands will have his way with them. We will lose the ruck battle regardless so focus on reading his taps or run off an opponent. Gotta be Grimes and probably Toumpas for me. Good to see Spencer doing well though, I particularly like to hear him taking marks. If he can provide that outlet just outside the D50 then he will be very useful.
  22. Booing your own player is an out and out disgrace and if you're one of those d!ckheads you should be ashamed!
  23. Really? I was sitting on the 2nd tier fence and I was completely saturated and my poncho was getting blown all over the place... Wish I was sitting where you were sitting!
  24. A tackle that prevents the tackled player from disposing of the ball effectively maybe? I'm a Watts supporter/apologist but one of my gripes is that he doesn't follow through on his tackles. Seems to drop off a bit easier and lose his feet, so its rarely effective. He needs to keep his head up, get low and drive his shoulder through by pumping his legs - you can tell I have a Rugby background. Reilly/Frost and good examples.
