  1. What you just know you’ll get from Tholstrup is energy and enthusiasm. Given how we’re playing, if for no other reason, you get him in for that.
  2. Are you serious? JVR has been garbage. Hot, garbage. Calling his manager? Go for it, he’ll probably get told to pull his head in and play better
  3. Who do you put in to the midfield instead..? There’s nothing there.. A statement was made, on players that we all acknowledge were out of form. At least the midfield will have something new to kick to, maybe it’s the spark.
  4. You know what.. not such a bad outcome to have them playing together in the VFL. Guarantee easier opposition than AFL, build them up together, get them in form together, then bring them back to the AFL. Together. Goodwin, for all his flaws, was at a hiding to nothing this week. What does he have to choose from? People crowing for change, got them, but call him crazy for selections.
  5. Seriously… should we just rename Demonland to SackGoodwin-land??? Every single chat I go in to it’s wall to wall whingeing about Goodwin.. I get it, but point made, move on. On selection… I wonder if we just want more speed up forward, and put the acid on JVR. You’re one out.. bring the ball to ground. Might also get a lot of peoples wish for fritsch to play closer to goal.
  6. It’s not neutral, it’s a net negative. When he’s kicking we’re often running forward so when it lands in the oppositions hands we are all caught goal side, so the opponent has an open park in front of them. Big reason why the sling shot is so devastating. It also means other players are less eager to get proactive, so they end up sitting back more, making our offence stagnate. Super net negative.
  7. Yeah a bit harsh on Langford. He’s played 3 games
  8. I hate using this expression, but Petty is soft. Doesn’t want it, doesn’t want the contest. Can’t play again. JVR playing young… immature tactically, immature physically.
  9. Sure, but they had speed and kicking talent through the midfield. We have Oliver, and Viney.. god love them.
  10. I mean say what you want about the game, but we have no forward line.. none. No key position player, no talls. Van Rooyen looks barely a VFL player. No team is winning with that. And then you add Petty…
  11. I hate to say it.. but Van Rooyen needs time in the VFL
  12. Van Rooyen a mile off. Fritsch.. some of the decisions. Not a half forward. Petty was responsible for at least 2 goals in the 4Q. Oliver, viney same story.. hack forward. Tackles slipping everywhere.
  13. Don’t how you can argue with that after the display put out tonight. Plenty of vfl performances out there tonight
  14. Sort of my point really.. if he’s not getting separation then at least don’t get outmarked. Put your knee in the back of someone.. just don’t let them mark it and bounce straight back out. From what I understand about AJ, you can rely on him to do that!
  15. That attempted bounce and subsequent fumble by Woey with a man right in his face… good lord!
  16. Also worth stating that I was bitterly disappointed in Rooey’s game today.. it says something when we really missed AJ, a first year mature age recruit. When it was clear the ball wasn’t coming to him he just needed to be hitting packs, bringing the ball to ground and giving us a chance inside 50. Failed to do it.. felt like he was looking for the easy option a lot
  17. McVee, Windsor, Pickett, Moniz… speed and skill. All desperately missed today
  18. Van Rooyen meanwhile… mate, hit a pack. Poor few weeks from him
  19. They’re unmarked because we are rightly running forward when one of our players kicks it directly to the opposition. Then all of our players are caught offside.. easiest goals in the world
  20. Felt like that whole quarter was on our terms, and we kicked it all away
  21. Everyone goes on about Goodwin, but he can’t help viney absolutely, totally, completely, butchering the ball going i50 time and time and time and time again. Shocking stuff
  22. Soft maybe.. but certainly lacking the defensive intensity, or intent.
  23. Did feel like our ball pressure was way off, very reactive and often falling off tackles. The ease with which they’ve been able to transition the ball needs to be addressed. Conversely, our D50 transition is shocking. Will be a hard slog all game if we can’t start getting some run off the back. Really missing the likes of Pickett, Windsor and McVee

Wasn’t going to watch the game thinking it would end becoming a glorified trial for freo.. but in my thirst for real footy I flicked it on for a quick look, ended up watching the whole thing.. thought it was a really entertaining hit out, and they should rotate the games around the league each year. Was also really enthused by kozzys running and defensive pressure, also just feels like he’s growing in to a bit of a leader. Really looking forward to see what he does for the dees this year..
  25. I don’t think we’re in anywhere near as bad shape as many would suggest. Given the disruptions of last year, I fully expect us to make finals this year. But if not, does it herald a grim few years of rebuilding? Not at all in my view.. I’ve been very enthused by the talent we’ve added over the last few years in particular, and seen us rebuilding on the fly.
