On the Vline Footy Special and it is very light for Dees support. According to my mate in Geelong plenty of rain at the Cattery. Keen to see how we handle another top quality side today who play a different style of footy to the Swans. Hope we persist in taking the game on like we did last week and that Fitz and Watts back up again this week.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can people please have a look at what Rodan does when he doesn't have the ball and you will understand why he is not there. I don't rate Byrnes but I expect he will pretty much play as a permanent sub. As much as I would love to see Jordie and JV it is right to play them back through Casey. -
From what I saw a nice player with clean hands who won most of his ball due to his tank. His kicking looked average for mine and he lacked speed and that x-factor I would hope an early pick would bring.
-
Gawn was good around the ground but his centre square work is not great. Needs to do more even with our poverished midfield.
-
We got our goals from counter attack from half back. They got theirs from running out of the clearances. That game more than most highlighted we are set at both ends of the ground just need to fix the middle. If nothing else Watts and Fitzpatrick are increasing their value at end of year.

How funny that a 200cm guy with diabetes and CFS has taken some time to look the part. Who'd have thunk it.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND 15
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. T-Mac 5. Fitzy 4. Garland 3. M Jones 2. D Terlich 1. J Frawley -
We're assuming that we wouldn't have performed like that with Neeld. Gws aside we played the other two worst sides, neither of whom we played earlier in the year with Neeld at the wheel. We have played quality and been spanked, I am keen to see if we can improve our competitiveness against quality opposition.
-
Of course you will learn more over an extended period but playing two vey good after two very bad will give us a better understanding. Fox footy stated our disposal efficiency was 3rd in the league over the last month. Keen to see how it hold up under pressure.
-
The next 2 weeks will show whether the players have improved or whether our opposition just created that impression.
-
Whether you agree or not with how they decide whether a disposal is efficient it is consistent across players. Therefore if you are better than the average ou must be doing alright.
-
Grimes will come straight in. Blease for Grimes and keep it at that.
-
I have a feeling that Blease will continue to do a couple of things a game that make people salivate but not offer much more than that. Needs to build his engine, simplify his game and use his speed more often both ways.
-
I am seriously struggling with the consistent perception that Terlich is a poor user of the ball. The stats don't lie he has been well above league averages all weeks bar one and has been at seriously high levels multiple weeks including 83% this week. The only thing I can think of is that he is a backman that gets 20+ disposals per game, most under heat and he has a couple each week that stick in peoples minds. Maybe he should just stop getting the ball and then people will stop this perception.
-
I see Terlich poor disposal was once again not reflected in his 83% disposal efficiency.
-
He has done that the last 3 weeks.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 14

Gawn was shot in the last and Minson and the dogs mids sensed it. They just ran forward of the ball and it all started from there. Its hard for a team to know how to protect a lead when they never lead. Build on the first three quarters, learn from the last.

Casey Scorpions v Northern Blues
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks Stuie. I have seen Casey three times live this year plus seen Magner play in the pre-season. You obviously judge form by reading how many possessions a player gets. Your comparison of players selected above him proves your lack of understanding. Rodan, Blease and Nicholson have one thing neither of Magner and Couch have, I'll leave you to work it out. -

I hope people who wonder why Couch, Magner etc... don't get games watch today. Couch decision making is awful and Magner cant spread. There is no benefit playing them up a level. Strauss has been good and Tapscott has worked hard but has not been rewarded on alot of occasions. -

I am not even close to a fan of Dunns but he was far from our worst on the weekend. -
Puts alot of pressure on Gawn with Jamar out for 4 and Spencer missing for 3. Great opportunity for the big fella.

Kosi did not kill him Pedo killed himself. Cost us 4 goals with errors. Frawley to return and T-Mac and Garlo being mainstays mean Pedo goes.
