Worst game I have seen him play today in impact and effort. Give him next week but a couple more poor ones and he should find his way to Casey,

Demonland Player of the Year - round 6
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6 Garland 5 Dunn 4 M Jones 3 Evans 2 N Jones 1 Terlich -
Where is he in hit outs to advantage and 1%ers when compared to other ruck man. They're the 2 stats I care about.
-
I would not be surprised to find Colin leading Jones in the Bluey at this point.

Swap Tapscott for Toumpas and that side would be filled with the best runners that we have. If you had Dawes and Clark as tall targets the player types on paper would be the best fit for the style of game we are trying to play. Don't expect a win but if someone can stand up and offer a target we may be a shake if they're off their game.

Sign Jesse Hogan up for 5 years (Suns and Jack Martin)
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
Unless you're Lucas Cook even a speculative tall is usually given 5 years on a list to prove his worth. I have seen enough to know Hogan will be a star in 3. If you can hook him for 5 do it but I would think a young kid in our current environment would want to know a bit more about who is coaching him beyond this year before he signed up long term. -
Welcome to Demonland ... PETER JACKSON
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Here is the biggest 2 issues that see us where we are. Our recruiting has been a disaster in choice of player and choice of type during 2000-2009 which should make up the key components of our side. People say we don't develop well but Scully, Gysberts, Morton and Martin aren't exactly carving it up in their new environments. We recruited poorly that is the cause of all our issues. -
He needs to earn a game.
-
Obviously not at the game but I'm guessing his 23 touches to 3 qtr time wouldn't be depressing him too much. Maybe the lack of minutes he's played in the last month have him stuffed at 3 qtr time.
-
Seeing him play twice this year and many times previously. He has improved his disposal and decision making from appalling to mediocre. He is an excellent mark and spoil but does not have the tools to be a running half back.
-
Does not have the disposal or decision making to play that role.
-
Sylvia missing goal in last is what hurts. Kick that and the discussion on this site might have been very different.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 5
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. Byrnes 5. Garland 4. Terlich 3. Sylvia 2. Gawn 1. Watts -
Our spread offensively and defensively today was pathetic. What the hell was McKenzie doing playing on a half back flank when Moloney was running around on his own for three quarters? Evans played the second half on a half back flank.WTF. Pederson is a waste of space and offers nothing. I am not in the sack the coach camp but he lost points with me today. Trengove was treacle but you cant slap them for lack of effort and then slap the guy who had 10 tackles. Byrnes, Garland, Terlich, Gawn, Howe (first half), Watts (second half) only positives. Pederson,Blease, Tapscott, at least should go next week.

I think people get caught up that a small defender means you need to be small. I would expect Terlich to take Garlett, Garland to take Betts which he has done well before and Watts to take Yarran subject to his performance today. If not Nicho, Strauss and Dunn will be ready to step up and may get a guernsey regardless.

I expect it will be Davey.

I didn't rate him in his B & F year. He won lots of ball against immature sides and generally bombed it long to no one. He refused to chase or man up or lay a tackle unless they were next to him. I have only watched him twice for Brisbane this year and he has been no different. He's guaranteed a blinder against us though.
-
Is that his natural game to not chase defensively or play with any accountability? His passion was all chest pumping and little substance. I don't miss him at all.

PRE MATCH DISCUSSION & TEAM SELECTION

I can see Davey becoming our super sub and playing this role on close to a permanent basis. -

Watch the last quarter and take note as to the goals. Gawn is involved in 7 of the 12 either kicking it himself, bringing the ball to ground or a disposal in the scoring chain. -

Its not much different to the forwardline that kicked 12 in the last. Statistically you could say its our best ever -

I expect the bench to be McKenzie, Tapscott, Davey, Jones. Happy that we have not brought in a tall just for the sake of playing one. Gawn, Pedersen with Howe deep should give them a target.
