  1. Does that mean we shouldn't invest in any more non-indigenous players?? I could mount a case to say they have been equally if not more inconsistent than the indigenous players. How about we pick the best players we can irrespective of their background and back our systems to make them the best they can be.

  4. As Jimmy's speech is on the Herald Sun site and can be viewed here, I will only post the video of Mark Neeld's speech at the 2011 Best & Fairest Awards Night. Here it is. Excuse the poor quality and sound of knives and forks and all the waiters running around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubc4Tk5XTPs

  5. Loved Valenti when he was on our list and was disappointed not to see him play more. His application and ball smarts were fantastic. Was sad to see him get cut especially when others on the list possessed but a fraction of his heart. Unfortunately heart only gets you so far on an AFL list and his lack of size and whatever else they thought he lacked made the decision for them. Congratulations on your second Liston and good luck with your future footy endeavours shane. Would love to see you get picked up by another club. All the best.

  6. Brad Green is a much better player than his 2010 form, captaincy and other issues played a part in his dreadful season. If he concentrates on being the best player he can be, he will be very valuable in the next couple of years. I can understand others would want him gone and I respect that, but he is a very talented player and we don't have a lot of those.

  7. Certainly Scott and Balme have their work cut out for them in this off season. Some healthy pruning and good supplimenting will see them reasonably ok. Keep in mind their swag of home ground games , With teh intro of GWs youd expect Geelong to still win 7-8 games even on a bad day , 2013 included. Id suspect the Sainters to slide further than the Kitty Kats. Time will tell, going to be interesting watching it all fromn the "other" end of the ladder B)

  8. Unbelievable last 10 min from Viney, did everything he could to drag them over the line. As mentioned above he's very much a Sam Mitchell/ Joel Selwood type. For the life of me i cant believe he started in the forward pocket in the last qtr...

  12. Trouble for Brad is that he USED to be a good player. This year he could only play forward pocket, and couldn't get to contests or the ball on a lead any more. The body is sending the message. And as has been seen too many times before...the game goes past your very quickly.

  13. Its probably a very sobering time in Brads life as he stares down the idea he is deaching his footy "end days" Might be more of a shoch than hes realised. Hes now dealing with a very different club than the one he came to. Id be surprised if he doesnt sign for a year., maybe with a year extra ( option ) on merit. He is a good player let s not forget that. Captain ...well... but a player..very good. Brad needs to be honest with himslef and challenge himself to be the best hes ever been. Its al up to him. Do it Brad, you'll feel so much better for having given it your all.

  14. Agree, it's an excellent article .......... I particularly liked the sentiment expressed in the last sentence. Sadly (at least for an old fart like me), we can't turn back the clock, and the days of 'one club players' and 'playing for the jumper' are doomed if not already dead. Inevitable, but the game is the loser.

  15. 3 premierships in 5 years... I could live with a wooden spoon after that. In fact, I think the year would be a write-off anyway. I'd be drunk until at least mid-October.

  16. The main thing about Beamers speech (and I regret not filming it) was that he is gutted not to be playing finals and that it kills him to watch the finals each year and not be apart of it. He said he can't understand why Joel Selwood gets to play finals and not him. the way he said it was full of emotion. My other favourite Beamer quote for the night involved Ron Barrassi in the men's room. Get your filthy minds out of the gutter it's not that kind of story. Barrass was walking into the men's just ahead if me. He bumped into Beamer who was coming out and Barrass relayed to him that Collingwood had just won the game. All Beamer said was "yeah, by 3 points the bastards." I love that he despises them. Classic! Make him captain!

  17. The speech I enjoyed the most was James Frawley's when Todd Viney had to take the trophy off him as he kept banging It down next to microphone, pisser. I always look forward to Chippers speeches as he's a shocking public speaker, always a good laugh.

  19. "I want to be a one club player and I anticipate that will be the case" - Tom Scully. I am over everyones "Words" - actions..its all about actions There is a match review every week with the team - lets fast forward over Matty;s part comes up so he doesnt know where he went wrong. I find it difficult to believe that there as no discussion around his performance. But taking him completely at face value - if Matthew Warnock after watching a replay had no idea what he needed to improve then we should trade for a 100091010th draft pick. Probably what they should have done earlier is said - Matty, we see you as nothing more than depth for injuries. But to say he wasnt told where he needed to improve....spare me. He should have just said - "they are heading in a different direction"

  21. I think the criticism of Jones' skills is totally unjustified, especially when there is an insane amount of love for Jack Grimes. For those that are happy to hang $hit on Jones' (lack of) efficiency, please put up some figures/evidence to support your case. But be sure to put up all listed players just so we can get an idea as to where Jones stands in this area.

  23. Warnock isn't slow at all. His problem is disposal compounded by treating the footy like it's a hot potato rolled in a dog turd.
