  1. Not sure that is right. ANB and Sparrow did start to get more control around the middle. My frustration is that we saw what Collingwood did the week before. Cripps and Walsh were shepherded physically from the drop of the ball at centre bounces. The Pies nullified their influence. We had zero answer. Stoppage is Carlton's 1 wood. 5 goals direct from the centre. Also our delivery into our fwd 50 was shiite. we had more i50s in the first half but Fritsch, Petty and Kozzie had 1 possession between them. Weitering alone had 12. Bombs away baby. No lowering of the eyes. Dumb football After the first 3 goals we should have gone into hold the ball chip mode but we had no other plan. And Carlton kicked the first goal of every qtr. Seriously WTF? You can point to clearance stats and say oh we matched them but the goals they kicked from centre bounce were critical
  2. Having just watched the replay its astounding how many times: Carlton players get tackled and simply drop the ball (looks like an instruction) Cripps throws the ball without penalty Cripps and Walsh are allowed to turn more than 360 deg before disposing of the ball The free against Max for hotting the ball OOB when it was Pittonet was disgraceful As was: Bowey being pinged for Deliberate when he was pushed in his side as he was kicking The JVR tackle when Hollands was rewarded for throwing his head into the turf Curnow pushing May into the pack before taking a chest mark and goaling. It seems In the back is a forgotten rule Chopping the arms is paid maybe 1 in 5 times An appalling umpiring evening. As for us. Fritsch is my most frustrating player. As good as he is he has very little intensity and can barely lay a tackle at times If only he had some JV mongrel Petty is way out of sorts. zero disposals 8m into the 3rd qtr. Weitering had 12. WTF? Our goal kicking hasn't improved (but Tracc has improved his). When Tracc was heavily tagged there was not help for him The umpires hate Clarry. Gets pinged for HTB and throwing while Cripps is Marine Boy with a 10m forcefield around him Pittonet never looks at the ball. He only looks at Max. That should be an instant free. At ball ups around the ground the Umps even said stand 1m apart. The players ignore them. Why do they selectively apply rules? We were cleaned up with their slickness around the centre bounce. 5 goals straight out of the middle. They kicked the first goal of each quarter. Why can't we come out breathing fire? Cripps and Walsh had over 70 damaging disposals between them. You could have written that script. We could not combat them We struggled to clear the ball from our d50 while they waltzed out of ours Billings is a poor decision maker. he is this year's Jordon. Stop and prop. Woey was really good when he came on. Sparrow was good when he moved to the middle but did turn it over a bit And for newman not to get suspended when Kozzie has been done twice for the same thing shows me how corrupt the AFL and MRO really are.
  3. Carlton was playing their 3rd game in 13 days. We have no excuse.
  4. Similar to Pickett v Cripps in last years final. 1 week.
  5. It was wet from the opening bounce. We won the i50 count in the 1st quarter.
  6. Kicking i50 during the first half was abominable. Even the kick from Sparrow to Tracc for our first goal was appalling and was lucky the Carlton player went backwards expecting it to go over Traccs head. Half time stats for our fwds were disgusting. Fritsch Petty kozzie didn't touch it. Disco with maybe 1 And Carlton kicking goals in the first 30 secs in the 1st, 3rd and last qtr. I mean WTF?? Cripps and Walsh cutting us to ribbons. We had the blueprint from Collingwood last week where they were both manhandled out of stoppages We need a massive revup before each quarter. The team is basically asleep.
  7. Not really sure. I don't watch them enough but I suspect a couple of things: Firstly their defence is leaky. It needs all the help it can get and playing a fwd half game allows them to keep the ball away from their defence. Second McKay is playing higher up the ground. He was woefully out of form last year and is a difficult match up further up the ground. The leaves from space for Curnow to operate in. Maybe thats the plan. Carlton have a mosquito fleet in their fwd line like Owies, Martin, Fantasia, Durden. etc So the more space the better The other reason might Walsh is back and their clearance game they see as a strength. Win the clearance, jam the ball fwd. Maybe personnel meant they had to revert last year to a turnover game. It coincided with Voss being almost sacked so its difficult to separate some of the issues.
  8. Against Geelong , Carlton conceded 10 goals from their first 19 entries (into their D50) Their defence is their weak point. McGov helps enormously but teams have gone to work on Weitering and dragging him up the ground. A role that I expect Disco to take. Carlton remind me of us when we pushed so high up the ground and were vulnerable to the checkers/leapfrog attack out the back. Collingwood nullified Carlton's stoppage game by pushing Cripps and Walsh away from every stoppage Will be some interesting tactical ploys tonight. Dees by 17
  9. It is good but I have to say our backline hasn't missed a beat. They have been a rock all year. If anything our midfield to me seems like it hasn't really clicked all year. Yes we are more focused on the post-stoppage clearance but still it hasn't to me clicked yet. Oliver getting back to full fitness will help. I would like to see Bowey kicking inside 50 more often though. His kicking is generally outstanding and he was super fit over the summer. So he is a great addition
  10. Umpire 22 Williamson. We are cooked. 9 - Matt Stevic 11 - Curtis Deboy 22 - Nathan Williamson 32 - Jacob Mollison
  11. Brad Johnson - who is apparently on the Rising Star selection committee - just said that he would be ranking the Rising Star at this point as 1. Windsor 2. Reid 3 M Roberts Correction: Brad Johnson was giving his views to Kane Cornes who IS on the selection committee
  12. Can we pre-emptively lodge a complaint to the AFL about he number of frees Carlton will get this Thursday night?
  13. I don't mind this measurement but I agree it has its deficiencies. For example Melbourne's offence is not ranked as a Premiership threat according to this chart but look where we are defensively - the number 1. We are the most difficult team to score against by far over the past 4 years. So you don't have to score big numbers if your defence is so strong even though we would all like to score more.
  14. There is not a snowflakes chance in hell that Goodwin gave 5 votes for Holmes.
