Agreed

Thats why Im staying at home

The MFC have screwed me again, now Im gonna screw them

Bet u are glad u stayed home YM!!!

Only negative was that missed beating the BEST EVER come back by 2 points - held by the filth!! Was one not to be misssed for all us faithful Dees!!

You are not a true supporter of the MFC. Enough said.

Get behind the club when it needs you most.

GO DEES!

Great reward for everyone who went to the G and as only 600 short of 20,000 means MFC does not have to get out the chequebook as would have expected!!

Thanks also to the non MFC supporters who turned up too!!

HINT: MCC and MFC have seen that it is possible to get extra people to games at the G with a bit of no cost incentive like a kick after the game. MFC and Nth Melb games in particular for rest of 2008 should be looked at for such events. Wasn't that hard was it!

Can't be there and will be on full media blackout until the 7.30pm Fox Sports replay of the game.

Fair to say the full media blackout failed miserably with the number of phone calls and texts I got at around 5pm telling me something had gone horribly... right!

I have always loved your passion YM and acknowledged your unwavering support for MFC.

Fremantle and Dockerland seem more your profile.

It was a great atmosphere Y_M, you should have been there. Never experienced a win like that, a simply amazing comeback.

Persuaded Dork supporting fiance to come along...she loved it, along with everybody else.

Wish Mousey, Distance Demon and other interstate supporters could have been there to soak it up as well

The crowd was fantastic. Stuck it out, got vocal and carried the boys over the line. Very happy I was there. Bad luck YM.

Congratulations Demons on a very good day. Went with a Cat mate and his son, enjoyed a very entertaining game with a raucous crowd (good numbers too, well done) and HAD A KICK ON THE 'G AFTER THE GAME! What a bloody great initiative. Hope not too many of you left at half time, like the couple of blokes sitting next to us! Cheers.

Rivals the Dogs game in 05 and the Saints final in 06.

The atmosphere was brilliant. You know the game is great when you're high-fiving strangers.

Even the trumpeter got in the action. Mind you, when he finished blowing his horn and the siren still didn't go, I was having nervous breakdowns. The longest quarter I think I've ever set through!

Wish i could have been there...I sat on the computer listening to the radio with a six pack for the first half like some kind of idiot...and even more idiotic, I stuck to it, and listened to the second half with more beer...but was well worth it. You could here the atmosphere every time we went forward. Sounded amazing. The supporters at the g are the ones that deserve to be involved in wins like that. Well Done!!

best ever comeback? I'm sure there have been a few 50+ point comebacks. Essendon down by 65 or whatever against North in 2001 comes to mind.

As far as half time comebacks go, it was the second biggest comeback ever. Only 2 pts off the record. There have been biger comebacks, but Im pretty sure they are referring to half time deficits...

was an amazing atmosphere - thought the same last year when we played the kangaroos!!

seriously, when davey kicked that sausage roll and sold crowley a couple of kgs of candy, well...

and brad green's shot in the last - we all went up like it sailed ten metres through!!

the players sharing with us the emotion of the day, well....

still in shock!!

Thanks Nightmare, I'm sure I speak for all the other interstaters in wishing we could have been there too. Must have been sensational!

Unfortunatly we couldn't even get TV coverage in Canberra, with both free to air and paid TV showing the Swans / Dogs game. So much for Demetriou trying to promote the game in the regions.

Anyway, I listened to every word of commentary via MMM and my PC, and I sang the song just as loud at all of the truely faithful who attended the G. What a win!!

The Dees staged the second biggest comeback from half-time.

Talking of the Ess v North game, I was there - with a North supporter - and it was pretty astounding.

Just trying to imagine that same passionate crowd if it was 40,000. We can do it in time Believe. 40,000 against interstate clubs is what i want.

Did Y M go to the game?? I need to know!!

He says he went. Then again, YM says a lot of things. In saying that, despite his obvious insanity, I'm certain Yze_Magic is as passionate a demon as anyone here. He may as well be - he's on the Highway to Hell anyway.

yes I did go

It sucked not being there.. so much.

After only hearing the half time score, I sent my brother a a text asking how much we ended up losing by. When he replied 'up by 8 with 2 mins to go', i lot it. I ran out the back of the store, stuck my demons scarf on, informed EVERYONE at JB chadstone (not that anyone believed me at that stage), and walked past the TV with the replay every five seconds.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
