Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hey, I turned on White first.

The centre circle neutered his leaping advantage at centre bounces, he has never been a good mark because he has hard hands ,just doesn't run to the right positions for a ruckman and he has no physical presence. Any midfielder/utility can be on the end of the switch of play but the 195cm ruck should be the guy 60 metres up the ground demanding the ball or the guy taking the saving mark on the goal line. That has never been, and never will be Jeff White.

No other team plays a 195cm ruckman. Who would have thought 10 years ago that one of the pioneering mobile ruckman would become a dinosaur himself.

Play PJ as Nm 1 Ruck and challenge Jamar/Meesen to be the Nm 2.

I have been on the anti Jeff White bandwagon for a while now myself, and also called for trading him a couple of seasons ago while he had some value.

I can't believe that anyone could have a go at PJ. He was one of the few players to actually have a dip yeaterday, and i would be happy for him to take over first ruck.

For starters White was absolutely hopeless today, but he hasn't been good in a very long time.

PJ was excellent today and not just his ball handling etc, but I like how he is a team player, unlike players such as Roberston who never hand the ball off etc While I am not writing Robertson off, I just don't like those who try and make a hero of themselves.

Maximum Bob are you a Melbourne supporter? How could a supporter be so cynical and your comment about PJ shows how much of a true supporter you are, PJ made a mark last year and is playing again this year, give it a rest.

Good on you PJ!

He wasn't anywhere near as bad as about 18 others in the red and blue. Excellent though, I think not.

Something that strikes me now in hindsight..( as the nightmare that was yesterday rescreens though my mind ) was Jeffs positioning. Now I know he likes to play a kick off the game.. but more often than not he'll position himself near the middle..and act as a kick or second handball option link man to redirecting down the guts..

Yesterday I honestly had trouble finding him at times as he skulked around the bounday for a lot of the game.

if he's not set.. give him a run in the magoos

Johnson is still only 23, still very young in ruckman years.

Moves pretty well considering he's a monster (saw him at the Hawthorn end of last year and he made Michael Newton look like a school kid), has a dip, doesn't mind the contested footy and while not the most skillful player in the world is consistent enough in his disposal. He can also play forward or back as well which is always handy.

Have been a fan since his West Coast days so hopefully he can continue to take steps towards being a good ruckman

PJ was not brilliant.. he may never be.. Im prepared to accept les than brilliant in the ruck dept providing we can get the ball out as often as we dont. I'll settle for good. PJ was trying damn hard to be good. He put his hand up week in week out.( when given the chnace ). Given some good mentoring ( Sam Newman get better soon!! ) and I think he'll come on. He's a big boy who run as much as he can.

PJ put himself to where he might get the ball on Sun.. i saw no such committment from Jeff.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
