THE NEW DEMON GAME PLAN

DEMONS GO "BACK TO SCHOOL"

It seems that all the boys are going to school to study the new Demon game plan.

Neale Daniher did something similar when he became coach at the end of 1997. The Demons took over part of the Caulfield Grammar campus and did much of their pre season there including going back to the classroom to study the coach's new style. It must have worked because the team rose for last to a preliminary final in 1998 and even gave the ultimate premiers Adelaide a thrashing in the first final.

It's a pity the Reverend didn't maintain that sort of meticulous attention to detail in planning a pre season throughout his time as a coach. Although ultimately the best of your training's done on the track, there's definite value in a bit of teaching in the classroom to help players understand what it is they're meant to be doing out on the ground. This is something they didn't appear to comprehend when the Nab Cup and practice matches were played last year and they were supposed to be adopting a "run and carry" style of play. Hopefully, things will change this year.

I hear "run and carry" is making a comeback. Is this true?

If so, let's hope they get it right this time around.

not at melbourne...i like the "lets play like geelong" game plan...if that is run and carry well then lets do that...i doubt dean bailey would have mentioned run and carry this year however, as it turned out looking like such a failure at this club just last year

From inside sources at "The Cattery" there was a near player revolt at Thommo's chip-chip-chip start stop game plan, basically it was the plan goes, and/or the coach goes, or we go!.

The Cats started moving the ball long and fast into the forward line...the rest is history!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
