Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is Cameron Wood worth pick 14?

It must be pace (which they are lacking in the midfield) but Collingwood also do not have a finisher with Buckley gone. Why didn't they approach MFC about TJ?

Wood will be good me thinks. Remember its much harder to get a talanted ruckman. Usally only one each year from the draft plays more than 150 games. Wood has some experience already and perhaps the pies think their premiership chance is in the next 3 years. If they drafted a ruckman, it would take at least 1.5 prob 2 seasons before he became good. THey made the right decision tho. Whether he is worth pick 14 is anyones guess. Noone knows and will only take time

Wood has got some talent, and the one thing the Magpies have lacked over the last decade is a great ruck duo. Fraser has peaked, and will be on a slow decline, so picking up wood gives them a ruckman to build around. Pick 14 is a high price to pay in a deep draft, but in this years "shallow" draft is not as rsiky according to the "experts" Any draft is important, if you have the right person selecting talent!

I thought trapper was worth more than pick 14. I say this now knowing what i know, but the dees were pretty quick to pull the trigger, so they must have someone in mind in the top 20 to select with pick 14.

And what did Akermanis get traded for last year ?

Anyone thinking that an under achieving talent turning 28 in his 11th season was worth more than pick 14 in the way clubs currently go about drafts is dreaming.

That said, there's many of those around here.

Exactly!

I think it's great that supporters think highly of our players, but we need to be realistic at the same time.

Collingwood need a ruckman, more so than a midfielder, so the punt is worth it for them.

Pendlebury, Thomas, Lockyer, Heath Shaw, Clarke can all finish, so they are not short of talent in the midfield without Buckley.

Collingwood has been crying out for a ruckman of quality since Monkhorst's declining years. It did the right thing going for Wood and made a pretty big sacrifice to get him considering they have now ruled themselves out of the race for the quality players in the draft with 31 as their first pick. They are losing a lot of quality players off their list through retirement and aging and will struggle to maintain their 2007 standards if their depth is challenged by injuries next year.

The most obvious answer is they needed a ruckman and with Pendlebury and Thomas they believed they had two more committed versions of Travis anyway. Dare I say they were well aware of his various "issues".

Fromt he outside that looks like a fair assessment of the situation. Perhaps the pies are a little bit wary of dealing with us and our classy midfielders?

I think collingwood wanted a ruckman & are obviously building their team from young stock as they have been for the last couple of years.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
