Travis to Brisbane

If Wood is worth pick 14 + Shaw, maybe, just maybe, we can squeeze an extra something out of Brisbane.

Still, pick 14 is a VERY good result. It gives us 2 first round picks which is ideal.

Isn't Jared Brennan up for grabs?

A reporter from the age (forgotten his name) did mention this on SEN this morning while listening on my way to work... obviously the deal is not done and there are other picks involved but it's apparently out there.

Where does the article say anything about Travis? And the title is 'Shaw might head to Brisbane'.

Page one.

It's as good as done. Trapper has agreed to go to Brisbane, we've agreed to pay a % of the last year of his contract, Brisbane are happy to send Wood to the Pies and he's happy to go there. Shaw has apparently agreed to go to Brisbane after Lonie turned them down (oh well nice career you had for a while) and all they are haggling about is who gets to keep the change after they pay the cabbie. Final upshot for us is that we get pick 14 for Travis.

DIABLO??

an apology would be nice..... i think i told you yesterday TJ was in Brisbane did i not??

so for tj do we get pick 14 and rhyce shaw or just pick 14??

Just 14. Brisbane get Shaw.

I would have been happier with a top 10 pick for TJ but 14 is still ok, let's just hope we don't waste it. If we could somehow get another 1st rounder I'd be stoked.

Just 14. Brisbane get Shaw.

Great deal for us.

I think we should really shake about this trade.

Said in the Herald Sun today that 14 is likely although Melbourne may want pick 8.

I say we charge for pick 8, try really hard to do and if Brisbane doesn't bite, still take 14 but it is worth having a red hot go at pick 8.

With TJ and Brown, Brisbane are laughing next year. Hope everyone enjoys seeing TJ rip it up for Brisbane next year. Its all good and well saying lets have a young team, but wheres the experience, wheres the maturity? And dont say Brock cos the amount of trouble he got into in Europe is an embarassment, clearly he is not mature.

the Lions are still going to want to go into the draft with some chance of getting a decent pick. Doubt they will hand over 8. Never hurts to ask though !! lol

im with u if we can get pick 8 that would be awsome

Haha alright you smug git. I did say I'd eat humble pie if you were right didn't I. Well here I go. It tastes awful. My apologies for doubting you.

I guess I'm happy with that deal. Ideally would have liked a slightly earlier pick but I can very much live with pick 14.

Yeah, I have no idea what we're doing, trading away the most mature player at Melbourne, Travis Johnstone.

can somoene clear it up is it us getting Shaw or Lions... i dont mind i think the knee injuries put him behind afl standard.... but can someone confirm ???

get on brisbane to make the 8 next year... we saw how good they could be late this year the poor 2 month losing patch really cost them... you will get about $2.00.... whack at least 100 on here... easy money...... black feeding off those sublime handballs to TJ on the wide open gabba surrounds..... who then spears Bradshaw or Brown.... i can see it

possible top 4 team next year look out for the lions

Lions getting Shaw

I wouldn't say it's a "great" deal. A fair deal, perhaps, and a possible win-win.

But ultimately it comes down to who we have our eye on at pick 14 and who we actually get. If you grab a Daniel Bell (like the Woey trade) then it will be a big win, but there is the fear of picking up a Nick Smith.

It's a risky decision but has more potential upside. I'm happy to be aggressive and take that risk.

Tis only me.... but reading between the lines Bails wanted rid of Trapper and is happy to get the best deal going, and thats about the long and the short of it !!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
