What's wrong with Junior?

And how is Robbo not on that injury list???

Big thumbs up for CJ, PJ and Buckley.

Honestly though, what does it matter? We're not in it to win and nobody even cares anymore. This may very well be the first time in Demonland history that we haven't had any game discussion pre-match, and even the list of 'ins' and 'outs' is not generating much interest.

think laterally ..

Robbo will be taken off ..and subsequently not available for next week either !!! ;)

Junior...? :o

Looking forward to watching this one. Should be a cracker.

But no call-up for Godders? What a revelation!

So with McDonald out, that leaves Jeff White as the only player to have played every game this year. Unbelievable.

Gods I think !!

I would hope we have more out the following week for Carlton. We dont want a sniff in that game or this one. Two games I would be happy to lose.

Has a team ever had not a single player play every game in the season? This has to be a new record low you'd think...

Three rucks in the same team, this should be interesting. maybe PJ will play back?

What times the game start?

Pretty sure its 2:10 local which would make it 4:10 AEST.

We're waaay too top heavy with ruckmen for the fast-track Subiaco ground. Still, the last time

we played Freo there Nick Smith was our #2 ruckman.....

Carroll, Ferguson, Miller, Neitz, Newton, Johnson, Jamar, White.

I don't think that is too top heavy. Three talls fwd in Neitz, Newton and one of Miller, Johnson, White or Jamar. Three talls down back: Carroll, Ferg, and one of Miller or P Johnson and then two in the ruck. It really depends on where Miller plays, if he plays fwd then P. Johnson will have to play back, they may play Miller on Pavlich. Although, considering Miller may be traded/delisted at years end may mean he plays back so that we can have a ruck rotating in the fwd line.

good i want too see this

Also of interest in the team selections for this game is that my most detested player in the league and a player of some trade interest on this site in Ryan Murphy has been dropped.

Just to show you how much things have changed since Round 4 when they last met, here are the respective teams.

MELBOURNE:

Backs: Clint Bizzell Nathan Carroll Matthew Whelan

Half backs: Daniel Ward Paul Wheatley Daniel Bell

Centreline: Brent Moloney James McDonald Brad Green

Half forwards: Cameron Bruce Brad Miller Byron Pickett

Forwards: Simon Godfrey Mark Jamar Aaron Davey

Followers: Jeff White Nathan Jones Travis Johnstone

Interchange: Nathan Brown Lynden Dunn Paul Johnson Adem Yze

Emergencies: Matthew Bate Ricky Petterd Colin Sylvia

In: Clint Bizzell Lynden Dunn Byron Pickett

Out: Matthew Bate Ben Holland Ryan Ferguson

FREMANTLE

Backs: Shane Parker Luke McPharlin Roger Hayden

Halfbacks: David Mundy Antoni Grover Steven Dodd

Centreline: Shaun McManus Paul Hasleby Heath Black

Half forwards: Des Headland Matthew Pavlich Ryan Crowley

Forwards: Dean Solomon Chris Tarrant Peter Bell

Followers: Aaron Sandilands Matthew Carr Josh Carr

Interchange: Troy Cook Daniel Gilmore James Walker Luke Webster

Emergencies: Adam Campbell Paul Duffield Robert Warnock

In Heath Black Luke Webster

Out: Justin Longmuir (knee) Andrew Browne (hamstring)

i think its fair to say that any players that arent injured and arent playing firsts are either gonna delisted next year or are in severe development mode.

players not chosen and arent injured:

Bizzel, Warnock, Neville, Garland and Weetra (Garland and Weetra first year rookies so theyre let off)

Bizzel, Warnock and Neville...is there any surer sign that these guyz are the first 3 going to be delisted at years end? sorry but if players arent getting chosen with so many injuries they are GAWN.

Not necessarily so. There will be a whole new football department next season.

ok so robbo needs to rest his knee, wheatly needs to get his shoulders right, we only need 2 other injurie and we could tell the afl that we officially have to forfeit against carlton because we dont have enough players, thus giving them the four points, avoiding the farce of a game in round 22 and getting us the priority pick ;)

here is how the team has been named... curious that garland, bizzell and warnock have all been named as emergencies, all seem to be key backs... and godders couldn't even get a go in the emergencies, is he injured?

MELBOURNE

B: Nathan Carroll, Ryan Ferguson, Nathan Brown

HB: Chris Johnson, Brad Miller, Cameron Bruce

C: Brad Green, Travis Johnstone, Daniel Ward

HF: Byron Pickett, Russell Robertson, Michael Newton

F: Colin Sylvia, David Neitz, Paul Johnson

FOLL: Jeff White, Brock McLean, Nathan Jones

I/C: Mark Jamar, Simon Buckley, Jace Bode, Lynden Dunn

EMG: Colin Garland, Clint Bizzell, Matthew Warnock

and here is our injury list at present...

MELBOURNE:

Matthew Bate (thigh) - 1 week

Daniel Bell (back) - 1 week

James Frawley (ankle) - 1-2 weeks

Brent Moloney (groin) - 1-2 weeks

Clint Bartram (knee) - season

Aaron Davey (hamstring) - season

Ben Holland (shoulder) - season

Ricky Petterd (lung) - season

Jared Rivers (groin) - season

Matthew Whelan (ankle) - season

Adem Yze (hernia) - season

James McDonald - 1 week?

Paul Wheatley - 1 week?

that's 13 injured players... giving us 28 players to select our side from... with only neville, weetra and godfrey not making the team or the emergency list... fair to say we're in pretty bad shape

Godfrey is injured as well...isnt playing at sandy....

so that neville and weetra the only ones not selected in the 22 or as emergencies...

honestly u gotta be feelin the pressure if u were neville

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
