Sheeds to the Demons seems to be gathering some momentum, doesn't it! On Foxtel before the Richmond-Essendon game Jedda Healy said he felt it was Sheedy and then the rest (interesting from a fairly close mate of Chris Connolly's), and Mike Sheahan, who has been on and then off the Sheeds to MFC bandwagon was back on last Friday on the Fox show Before the Bounce. Said he felt Sheeds was now the favourite and probably the right man for where the Demons are right now.

Also, Malcolm Blight only coached the Crows for 3 years - for 2 flags! If Sheeds can give us 3 - 5 and build some respect around and for the place then there is no doubt he will have done his job. He isn't yet 60 (not until December) so at the end of his 5th season would be only 64! Little Johnny is planning on running the country for another three years - that would make him 71!

I've been impressed with him the last few weeks - submitting to the process despite the huge emotional wrench he must be experiencing. Just goes to show how much he wants to coach!

I'd have to say my satisfaction level with the process has been shaken somewhat with todays announcement in the Age that Peter Schwab would now be part of the interview panel. This is after it was claimed that there would be no replacement for Fagan. Sheedy was interviewed without Schwab present and then, hey presto! Schwab appears a few days later to sit in on the other four interviews. According to Caro he was appointed because it was felt that someone with coaching experience was required on the panel. So there you go, not only is one of Connolly's best mates interviewing him, so is his former boss at the Hawks!

What happened to "We have a process and we are sticking to it". Either Schwab attends all interviews or he attends none-this smacks once again of amateur hour. I just don't get how this could be so hard. I work in an industry with a global budget in excess of $30 million per year. Our staff selection processes are pretty straight forward. Place an ad, an applicant responds in writing to criteria, a panel of three who know about the role shortlist and interview, somebody gets the job. One thing we don't do is change or add to the panel once the process starts. Very interesting indeed! No wonder our staff turnover is so high!

*** Want SHEEDS for 2 / 3 years with bailey or hardwick as his 2nd in charge whom would ultimately take over from him.

*** Want Connolly back @ the DEES on the football dept or board!

*** Would love to see Riley stay in the football dept, i like his strait forward manner.

Tell me why Bailey or Hardwick, with teams in the finals, would want to risk coming to us just for an assistant role? Ok they might be the likely successor to Sheedy but there are no guarantees on this and whos to say they wont get the chance at their own club before Sheedy retires from the Dees. Madness and if I were them I wouldnt settle for any less than the #1 job now.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
