Thanks for the tip ...  cheers bro !

Yeah, a bit of a step up in quality over tonight's game!

It's a bit of a pity it's not the Brazil of old with Socrates & Zico et al

The opposition wasn't much but we played alright.  The win puts the Aussies back in the picture at least

Top 2 in the group is still attainable but we'll need to get at least 2 of 4 wins against the Saudi's & Japan (and that's a big ask)

3rd or 4th in the group advances the team to the next qualifying round.  Top 2 straight to the WC

Gee wiz. Always an interesting time to sack a manager.

Well 'ten Hag' getting sacked seems to have been a long time coming

Almost every week there has some sort of story that he was on thin ice

Man Utd reminds me of the VRC (Racing Victoria) ... not knowing what to about the free spending and successful noisy neighbour (Man City & NSW Racing)

Mind you, Man City could have some big issues soon enough what with the investigation re their true & accurate financial situation

And for what it's worth, the head of NSW Racing (Peter V'landys) is a true visionary with bucket loads of money at his disposal

Ruben Amorim officially named as Man Utd manager.

Liverpool was right into him until he decided to meet with West Ham and we moved on. I personally would have liked to give him a shot but it was something completely different to what Klopp had engrained in the club.

For United though, it could be anything, he's a young coach who plays with 3 at the back and with true wing-backs.

Will it work? No idea. But it will be different and it will be exciting to watch if the right players are involved.

Spurs beat Man CIty 4-nil at Man City!!

Opens the door for Liverpool to now skip ahead in the race for the title

But the result was a shock both ways - A huge away win for Spurs and a shocking loss for City

We've actually got a decent record against them in the Pep era, stretching back to Poch days and including a few good away wins.

Losing to Ipswich at home and then thumping City away is the most Spursy thing ever.

Ha!  (The Spursy thing)

So, Liverpool have skipped away to an 8 point lead but it's not quite theirs to lose just yet

One can see Man City rallying if and when they get back on track

Liverpool are at home to Man City next Monday morning (3.00am)

Arsenal & Chelsea are lurking as well but either team would need to go on a reasonably long winning streak to challenge

It's going well for the moment, Slot has kept a lot of the Klopp philosophy and the high presses are still there with everyone stepping up and doing their bit. I love the way he uses Endo and brings him on late with a lead for some solidarity.

However the squad is pretty thin and the real test will be when we start picking up a few injuries. I do see some points being dropped in that scenario unless there is a dream run. The contract talk of Salah, Alexander-Arnold and VVD will start to intensify as we go into December so how much of a distraction that turns out to be will factor in as well.

Will see where things sit at the new year. The game against City this week will tell a lot!

3.00am tomorrow morning (Monday)

Liverpool vs Man City

Season definer, win lose or draw.  A draw suits Liverpool way more than Man City

In fact, City have to win the match as they can't assume that Liverpool will be dropping points in a hurry

One for the old schoolers this morning as Newcastle and Liverpool finished 3-3. Historically these two sides don't do boring games!

Arsenal, City and Chelsea all winning so with only 14 games played the lead at the top isn't as big as it seems. A lot can happen in December.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
