This goes out to all Demonland members, new and old.

We've had an influx of new members in the last few months, a great endorsement to our ever-growing site.

Unfortunately, some of the behaviour recently has been unacceptable, both from the new posters, and the older posters who should know better.

It is intimidating to come into a forum where many posters know one another and are familiar with the general opinions and expectations.

We would like to make everyone feel welcomed, even if their opinions do not always match ours. We embrace and thrive on lively discussion, and yes, disagreements, but there is a way to disagree and a way to cause problems.

We do not, under any circumstances, accept personal remarks made about or to individuals, be it name-calling, put-downs, or just general nastiness. This is how Demonland has operated for a very long time, and this is how it will continue to operate.

Senior posters need to lead the way and not get sucked into petty arguments. Nobody here is above the Code of Conduct. You break the rules, you get a warning. If you don't take the warning on board, you will be suspended. There are no ifs or buts about it.

And on a similar note, please take into account that all moderators are individual posters first. They are entitled to express their opinion, and there should not be an expectation from them to sit on the fence and watch. As moderators it is their job to ensure that the standard of discussion on Demonland remains high. That means that they are accountable for what they say, in the same way everyone is accountable for what they say. If you think a moderator has broken the rules, please report their post. They will be dealt with in the same manner any other poster would be dealt with, in private.

Finally, to all new posters, some words of advice:

- - Familiarise yourself with our Code of Conduct (found at the top of every forum)

- - Put forward your argument in a rational, civilised manner. Having facts to back up your argument helps greatly.

- - Take some care and delete unnecessary quotes when replying to a post.

- - Do not assume that you know the general opinions of other members. If you want to know something, ask. Don’t attack.

- - And finally, it is not what you say, but how you say it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone is entitled to be treated with a level of respect. If we don’t have a basic level of respect for one another, we cannot co-exist in this environment.

We hope everyone takes this on board and continues to visit Demonland and enjoys discussing the greatest football club in the world.

Go Dees!

Well done! I just want to take the time to thank you for moderating and making this site what it is! You lot do attract the odd complaint but it is reassuring to know that you put your foot down when it counts so THANKS!!!!

Sorry to be dumb here but what exactly has bwell done? I have just finished reading a few of his posts and they all seem to be harmless enough. Not defending him, just asking.

[mod edit: please do not quote whole posts if they are long. It clutters up the thread. Thanks]

Smart move in my opinion.

People shouldn't get away with coming on and attacking regular posters, calling them 'retarded' and what not.

Good job mods :)

Great post by Rogue too.

I hadn't seen it until tonight and it really sums it up perfectly.

i look forward to guessing which new poster on demonland is 'bwell' mascarading under a new name.

good job barring him. im sick of reading petty arguments that have nothing to do with MFC and it has happened to often recently

I think the site administrators can track people listing and posting under two aliases.

That's correct.

We've got access to IP addresses, so it's not hard discovering people who post under aliases.

We're coming up to probably the busiest time of the year in terms of online traffic. With the impending selection of a new coach, delisting, drafting and of course trade week, it's important everyone remembers to take a deep breath and count to 10 before unleashing their opinions.

If everyone behaves, we'll get to enjoy some of our finer posters coming out of hiding during this time, especially during trade week (chilliboy is the highlight!) ;)

So are Demons 32 and bwell the same person or am i a dumbass?

I'm 99% confident they're not the same person (checked all the usual signs and came up with no evidence that they are), so Demons 32 stays put as he has not done anything to violate the code of conduct.

Another great post from Rogue......

I am glad that multiple threads will no longer have a tendency to descend into chaos  !!!

But, for what it's worth, I have to say that after having a relatively mild disagreement a couple of days ago, bWell sent me a personal comment to apologise if their posts and opinions had been insulting. It obviously didn't change the continued public attitude, but it was nice to receive nonetheless.

But if you read some of his posts he is nice and agrees with you and then the next post he has abused you!

Glad to see him gone,

hey dazzle i love chilliboy, i find him entertaining in a somewhat usually dreary time.
