Hi everyone,

Just want to get an idea to see how many people here believe Byron Pickett should play on in 2008.

Maybe sign him up to the Army Reserves to spend six weeks running around the ouback. Not many pies out there...

Go Byron

I will see how he goes in the last 3 games before I sign anything

Love watching him run someone down and throw them to the ground, even if he gives away a free kick it's still great to watch!!

Having seen him Sat' night his hardness was a real tonic for the Dees, he may well be a fine player under a coach that won't smother our players creativity, & allow a bit of spirit to go on.

It depends who else goes, but even if Pickett played another season decently I'm not sure what that would really achieve for us in the end. Considering we lack talls, a guy like Holland is probably more useful as a 30+ re-signing.

pickett would be the first player i would delist at years end.

he will definitely retire in 1-2 years. therefore he is not our future. When you have 1-2 years left then you should be a definite starting 18 if you want to keep your place on the list.

Pickett is depth at most.

is seems that some people just accept mediocrity...are even happy with it. Pickett is NOT our future. he should not be taking the place of younger versions who need developing.

The only way i would keep him our list is if we were going for a premiership next year. WE ARE NOT!

Keep him.

One of the rare MFC players who has a sharp edge about him, as well as the exciting X-factor

Make his contract performance based, so Byron can't afford to stuff up again (he has about 5 kids to feed!!!)

Delist Warnock, Ferguson, Ward, Neville while Brown will retire. Blokes like Holland, Pickett and Jamar will be on the borderline.

1 good game can't keep him at the club he must have a blinding 3 weeks not to get cut.

& allow a bit of spirit to go on.

When it comes to coaching Pickett, what sort of night-before-match spirit are you referring to?

a speculative yes. Depending on his attitude around the club for the rest of the year . he was fanastic against the bulldogs. Welcome back Bryon.

When Pickett fires noone can stop him. So fire up Byron.

one intresting thing i want to know?? if boden baijack can make players lighter and lose weight why cant pickett??

Wrong. Each player is responsible for the effort and work on their body size and fitness. A fitness trainer only sets the planning and advice. Pickett has a slack attitude and wont do the work necessary.

Would you rather Godfrey or Pickett on the list next year?

Neither.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little bit,

Would you rather Godfrey or Pickett on the list next year?

Godfrey.

At least when Godfrey is not playing he sets a good example of hard work and determination.

If the club wants a fat, useless, unwilling, lack of commitment player approaching 30, then I may as well get the boots out of the closet, I am their man.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
