Tom morris doing his best to get Alan Richardson's contract not renewed. Other management getting a free pass. Reckons the Petracca affair and this are enough for him to walk. May be but ...what would he know?

Nor we should we try to frame what this whistle blower has done as noble. It wasn't.

Once the AFL and AFLPA were notified that should have been the end of it. Leaking to the media was designed to bring unwanted attention on the club and did nothing for Steven May or his partner.

We don't necessarily know that the whistleblower handed it directly to the media. Could be they passed the recording on to May and his partner who then went to Morris.

Now i dont know what took place and it seems like all of the mfc the afl as the victorian police force dont either, what seems to alegedly taken place is a domestic dispute between a man and a women that many of us have had at some part of our lives, now the important part is that niether partie involved in this alledeged domestic has been charged with any wrongdoing by police, so why the [censored] is this being talked about and why are may and his wife's private life being discussed by the mfc, the media and anyone else sticking their nose into someone elses private life the only peole who have that right are the immediate family . I cant believe the mfc approach to this is to not only tell the players but even worst their wives who history shows they love to gossip and add bits and pieces to the story i mean seriously this man gave his all to the mfc a important all Australian premiership player . If no chargers are laid and they would of been if he or she did something wrong than its not worth talking about.

My very limited understanding of what went on suggests the meeting was organized to stop the speculation around may and his partner being discussed around the club. I may well be wrong about this though. Looks like the intentions were good and the execution very poor.

I think once you make a recording and let it out of your privacy then you may as well be taking it to the media.

It is careless and stupid.

Not really, since in my hypothesis they were giving it to the affected parties.

I can't believe we're up to 8 pages on this thread about nothing. It would make the perfect subject for a Seinfeld episode. It's just the usual suspects coming out to criticise the club and it's administration at every possible chance, for what reason I cannot imagine.

In so many ways, this has been a wonderful week for the Melbourne football club. Our captain is currently leading the coaches Association votes, we just beat a premiership contender and beat them convincingly, our recruiting department has been shown to be, yet again, quite incredible in finding talent that didn't seem to be there – I'm thinking of, in particular, Harry Sharp.

But no, everyone wants to criticise the Club about nothing.

Not saying your hypothesis is wrong.

If someone makes a recording of sensitive information being discussed though then it is their responsibility if it gets out beyond their 4 walls.

Not necessarily, how about an invited party couldn’t make it, wife was doing some wag stuff, player was meeting his Mum.

So one or the other recorded it to show the partner.

When they heard the breach of player privacy on the recording, they did the right thing and blew the whistle.

Plausible.

This is how it was reported by Caro last night on Agenda Setters - i.e. that an invitee to the meeting recorded it, not the club.

Fancy blowing the morality whistle to Tom Morris who was sacked by Fox Sports for gross and indecent conduct.

That’s all I’ll say on this matter.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
