PRESEASON TRAINING: Tuesday 17th March 2026

Featured Replies

There’s a small group out on the park, 13 all up. A mix of 1s and 2s. Some in the wrong jumpers and just to be extra confusing there are two #5s: XL and Salo.

Disco wearing #44, Petts, Rickys Lever and Mentha, Howes, Tmac, Jed, Reg, OB38, AMW.

I don’t know if this is the first of today’s sessions which has begun extremely early or if this is something else altogether.

The boys are up and about, super vocal and clearly very happy.

Selwyn and Rhett have them kicking stab passes to one another and the aim is to receive the ball below their waist, the onus being on both players to pull it off.

Now half are running laps, including AMW who is running without issue. He looks great.

The others are doing handball drills. Handballs that bounce right at their toes

They’ve gone back to the rooms but now a second group is coming out.

This group: Max, Steeley, Langers, Moose, Culls, Spaz, Bison, Ron (Onley), Kolt.

Kolt knew for a couple of weeks what his job was gonna be on Sunday. He said he wasn’t daunted and was confident due to the coaches having faith in him. He’s walking a little taller today

Koz and Riv are also out here now. Kozzie’s enjoying a chicken and lettuce roll and now he’s barely finished swallowing the last mouthful and he’s running onto the field. The mum in me wants to tell him to let his food settle first 😂 but he knows what he’s doing coz Koz.

Extra players coming across from AAMI

Assume they will be meeting the Demons Women's team at the pub later for a few pints of the black stuff?

*let me know which pub ;-)

I forgot to wear green today, that rumbling sound you hear is my parents rolling in their graves.

Happy St Patrick’s Day, Dub ☘️

Similar drills as the first group.

They’ve got this set up for accuracy practice…

It’s amazing what a win does to their confidence and in turn to their accuracy.

"Handballs that bounce right at their toes". Hmm...does that mean they are deliberately handballing so the recipient has to work harder to get the ball? Or are they just handballing poorly?

Cub just told me this is the third group. The first group were out here at 10:30am.

Main training will be on Thursday here at Gosch’s instead of Casey since they fly out to WA straight after the session. Captain’s run on Friday in WA.

Third group on their way back to AAMI now.

PS: my biggest achievement today… getting Ron to smile 😊

Not at Optus. But Idk which smaller ground it’s at.

Thanks for the training report @Ghostwriter .

You can omit the "Preseason" now. We're finally into the real stuff.

Practice as you play LDVC

I must have missed the memo, but what is this training in groups non-sense?

I missed the first group too. The 12.15 pm group of 12 was made up of:

Langford, Windsor, Steele, Gawn, Tholstrup, Culley, Langdon, Rivers, Heath, Sparrow, Kosi and Onley.

Yes. Seemed to be a game based on a wobbly kick followed by two handballs, then kick again - anyway they had fun...

We need the "thinking" emoji 🤔 as an option to respond to posts!

I’m guessing it’s because in the throes of a real game not every handball comes at them easily like it does at training and so they practice dealing with handballs that land at their feet. I’ve seen them do similar with handballs deliberately too high or off to the side.

Does anyone know if Fritta trained?

If he did train he was in the first group out this morning. None of us saw that session since the website stated the first session would begin at 12:45pm, when it actually started at 10:30am. The second session started at 12:45pm and the third started at about 1:15pm.

Thanks Ghostwriter, Harvey Wallbanger all posters and special comments boy they are really changing up the routines this year. Although short week and long flight to WA makes it more difficult. It’s probably all about recovery and re- energising the group this week.
