Kane Cornes' Top 50 Players Ahead of 2026

Featured Replies

Picking a player at number one on potential is probably a little disrespectful to guys like Daicos and Bont and yet another reason why Cornes can never be taken seriously.

He is just trying to be controversial for publicity’s sake.

In fairness. I’d take Darcy over Daicos. You won’t find another monster like him for probably another decade or more. You’ll find a load of small midfielders.

Daicos is a consistent proven match winner , whereas Darcy although he shows enormous potential probably doesn’t deserve number one ranking just yet.

Yeh agreed. I’m just saying, you won’t see another Darcy. You give any decent midfielder protection and they’ll tear it up.

For example, Butters is essentially the same size and goes ham.

I also think it’s significantly harder for forwards. They have no control of where the ball goes and have to make do a lot. Compared to midfields who are the ones as you said that can change games.

Yes I agree with you and totally get what you’re saying and if the discussion was who to draft at pick one I’d understand, but it’s about ranking of who is currently the best player.

Ever since Darcy had a crack at Maynard he’s been my favourite non dees player

I think it's about ranking who he thinks will be the best player in season 2026.

Darcy is a fair call.

Two things;

Bit weird to take photos of people when they are getting their first ever prostate check. (Once you see, you cannot unsee)

No Oliver and no Petracca. Wow.

Just on the Darcy choice as No.1 - Cornes has been super bullish about him, for example recently predicting Darcy will soon pass Jeremy Cameron's 11-goal game. So at least it can be said Cornes genuinely believes Darcy will be that dominant a player.

I do think Darcy is a gun and I'm not sure there would be many players I'd rather magically recruit to Melbourne, plus he has a great first name, but I also think once you are talking about the top three or five it really is all about personal preferences.

You’ll find one in the 2027 Draft if not taken by Tassie this year asa 17 year old concession this year. Bookmark Axel Walsh

In fairness, no pun intended, you have to look at the role Cornes is playing. As a media insider prior, I can attest… these voices ie Cornes are deliberate. Whether they agree or disagree with your view.

The point of their view is to stir you up. And invoke discussion.

So with great respect there is no ‘fairness’ as you put it. There is a provocateur who is ruling and riling you up.

Take all matters from the AFL source as the most minuscule grain of salt you can imagine. They are not your friends nor do they give a shirt about what you think.

From there, only comes self determination and creativity. That’s something to look forward to.

I fully agree that’s their role, and really I don’t care what they say. Not much riles me up, especially Kornes’ opinion. I do think that Daicos is slightly rated higher than he should be, however is a jet.

Will be interesting to see how Darcy goes at full health with a full season this year.

No Jeffo

There's under the radar and then there's really under the radar.

"I present to you the ballistic missile submarine Red Jefftober".

The ninja godzilla?

Or going for the full obscurity reference, Heart of Gold!

Jeremy Cameron higher than he should be imo
