Awaken Your Demon in 2026

Featured Replies

Sam Pang was known as the Orchid when he played.

What was the reason again?

lol

While I dont mind the slogan it immediately reminds me of the mid 2000s bfmv song "waking the demon" and it's hilariously cringey werewolf/emo aesthetic.

Oh no, I have been outed by Chat GPT! 😮😁

I never played for Carlton, I actually played for Collingwood U-19s a few times. It is true what Brodie Mihocek says about Pies supporters! [still shuddering after all these years]

I am am a Blues supporter since childhood. Up the Baggers 😁

Why are you on a Dees’ supporters’ site ?

Kinda. The cheer squad shot might have a DL’er or two.

I think @No. 31 is taking the pizz, Joe. He’s not Sam Pang, but just like Sam he’s a diehard Blues supporter. We’re his “second” team, as we are for many people. And imho he’s welcome on this site because he’s more respectful of our club and players than some actual Dees supporters are.

Because he only thrives when conditions are perfect.

Thanks Ghostwriter 😊 I am also a Dees member too ... I just suspend the MFC love on 29 March 😁

Pumping up Carlton on an MFC supporters' site is the opposite of respectful.

Not everyone hates Carlton, DS. Some of us have reasons to not hate them.

We're not here to talk about Carlton. We're here to talk about Melbourne.

edit: I know you have a soft spot for Carlton, but how would you feel if it was an Essendon supporter talking about their team on our board?

It’s not what team he barracks for, it’s the fact that he’s respectful about our team. Besides, for the most part he talks about Melbourne, with few mentions of Carlton and even then it’s usually a neutral comment; on the rare occasion he overtly shows his true allegiance.

How would I feel were this an Essendon supporter? That depends on how an Essendon supporter would post, ie. if it’s the same way No. 31 posts I’d be fine with it, despite hating that repugnant pack of losers with every fibre of my being.

PS: he’s a paid-up Melbourne member (which is more than we can say about many Dees fans) which, again imho, entitles him to participate on a Dees forum, provided he’s respectful and doesn’t breach DL rules, which is the case here.

Hardly a self-glossing Carlton fan either. Initially I thought he was a Barass fan that might have accidently chosen a Carlton photo for the avatar!

We had an Essendon supporter here for years and he was a decent poster and quite knowledgeable... went by the name of Ash I believe. He put forward a good argument during the Essendon scandal (he didn't convince me but nonetheless, his argument was well thought out)

And there was a Tiger supporter here as well for a long time, but mainly on 'Ology ... 'Tgr'?

And then of course, there was 'Dr. Who' and his many guises. Trolled here, on and off, for years. I could pick him in a day or so, as his style was unmistakable

But Ash & Tgr were fine, as is No.31. If nothing else, they liven up the conversation

And the 'Awaken Your Demon' clip hits the spot and is quite funny. I like it

Living up to that type of stereotype compares well to the filth, scum & ferals. One can only imagine what their clips would look like

Rob McKenzie of McKenzie Theory fame

Dave Bridie of Not Drowning Waving and My Friend the Chocolate Cake fame, and performed a brilliant version of Grand Old Flag on Marngrook Footy.

McKenzie Theory! That’s a blast from the past. Fantastic band, with a great violinist. Saw them many times, mainly at uni gigs. Haven’t heard their name for years.

I think I was on DL for close to a year before I 'came out' as a Blues fan 😁 I try not to mention CFC too often but sometimes people ask me about what my perspective is as a Carlton supporter.

Anyways, enough of this distraction. I quite like 'Awaken Your Demon in 2026', a definite double thumbs up from me 👍👍

This afternoon we’re filming another part of Awaken Your Demon. If it’s as much fun as filming the last one it’s gonna be a blast!

Has Sam Pang seen the light? Think he supported Carlton. ...AI doesn't know [censored]!

Another I know is a MFC man is Paul Kelly.

Not 100% sure, buy I from what I recall of an article he wrote post the 2021 premiership, I think Martin Flanagan is a red and blue man as well.

Paul Kelly is an Adelaide supporter I'm afraid.

Yeah, I guess that one is a bit grey.

Sources I Googled said he adopted the MFC based on prior support for Glenelg Red Legs (my grandmother was the same).

Sang a tribute at Robbie Flowers service: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/196420/flower-service-paul-kellys-tribute?videoId=196420&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1413182987001

According to another Demonland post does suggest that he's now Adelaide, but previously Melbourne (bloody turn coat!), but guess he still has a soft spot for us:

Can’t wait to see! Any idea when the video you guys filled on the Yarra will be out or is that coming out with the one your filming today? @Ghostwriter

It was shown for the first time last night at the Season Launch. It was very well-received. I think it’ll be uploaded to the website today. I have a copy of it but not sure if I’m allowed to share.

Today’s filming is for the next instalment

No jaunt on the Yarra this time. It’s being filmed at a pub.

Last time we were “paid” with Grill’d food. Today it’s a bar tab and discount meal voucher. I’m hoping the next instalment is filmed at a perfumery or high end clothing store but something tells me that ain’t happening 😁

This is exciting and new from the club which I’m sure all the supporters are loving. Can’t wait to hear all about it if you do post about it! 😊😂

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
