AMW with boots off walking gingerly back to AAMI. 😱

Like injuries at training so are the days of our lives.

Split off into a couple of different drills.

  1. Most of the players line up to kick to a leading forward running towards the kicker with one defender on his tail and another defender to his side as an interceptor. Immediately after that play another player will kick to that forward who has now tried to get out the back of the two defenders heading towards goal.

  2. 4 vs 4 close quarters keepings off handball drill - rucks Heath/Jamar Kolt, Trelly, Windsor vs Langford, Sparrow, Langdon.

  3. Lever and Jefferson working with one of the trainers.

  4. JVR vs Taylor one on one leading drill. Mentha vs Berry doing the same.

how’d taylor hold up against JVR?

And yet I hear clubs like Port Adelaide and Gold Coast who have had like one player in rehab this summer.

What is going on down there?

Someone else in the crowd seemed to think it could be a crook guy. Watch this space.

A crook guy!? As in he’s a criminal or he’s got the flu? 🤔

Campbell arrives still with neck brace.

Poor bloke. Not just footy, hopefully hes not struggling too much at home. Wish him all the best, seems like a great guy

So if heath isn’t right, Tommy c in a neck brace and Maxy is in Perth who’s going to ruck for us on Friday at the intraclub? I know we have AJ but his not a genuine ruck

I wouldn’t be surprised if they call the thing off on Friday.

There will be a stack of fill ins…

I think a few might be suffering from training yesterday. AMW looked unwell to me, lots of sitting and looking pale, and disappeared behind the shed at AAMI Park. Melksham wandered off too in the usual direction.

Because they trained yesterday there was some doubt about whether training would take place this morning. It is scheduled for 9:30am at Gosch’s and indeed will go ahead.

Welcome back Ghostwriter hope you had a great holiday with the Fam and granddaughter.

We are in a full blown injury crisis.

As Neita’s great Uncle Fred Neitz(sche) would often say;

Training twice in two days probably is a bit over kill admittedly

Having injuries starting to mount on key players does not make us stronger.

The club always trains on Tuesday. It’s a light/gym session at Casey, they haven’t done anything different this week, why would they? Where’s everyone getting this impression from?

Notes from today's session:

T-Mac - how do we go past him.  Looks great never beaten.
Salem - not quite ready, looked ok but the pulled out and did run throughs. At a good pace though.
CJ - looks to be almost at full training again
Laurie - barely missed a target all training, could the King era suit him?
McAdam - no where near it.
Melksham - looks to be fully training
Lindsay - will be a smart user big year incoming i think
AMW - agility and speed looking good, power and drive to come.
Petty - looks to be moving well, always hard to tell with his lethargic demeanour.
Mihocek - will prove to be a great pick up, pulls the young key fwds a side and runs them through moments and patterns.
Fritsch- looks fit and training with intent.

Mainly a skills session today, ball movement much more dynamic, and a clear emphasis on sling shot footy and get out the back for goals. Fwds pushing up high mixing up in congestion, trying to lose their opponents and work back hard.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
