For Heavens’ Sake!!!!! If we are to go anywhere this year we need these two playing every match, or as many as injuries don’t prevent

I haven't seen any set plays after a point as yet.

In the sims out of the backline, it is the usual pass it round and spread, till an opening is there. Most of the time the balls goes close to the boundary and 50 arc, from there they seem to be looking to bring it into a central corridor.

Yes Kev that was my impression also, safe exit aggressive play into the corridor using speed

Langford did a lot of the contested work near the boundary and licked inside or handballed to a runner who went corridor

Classic Demonland quote 😂😂

This has been said by some poster of virtually every player recruited in the last 30 years.

Jack Fitzpatrick, Jay KH, Michael Newton, Sam Blease, Mathew Warnock

"Ah I've just got a feeling he'll be something special"

Is that a bad thing being optimistic about our players?

Its unrealistic until the chap has actually played some footy.

I suppose it takes some pressure off Kentfield, Jeffo, Tholstrup, AMW who have been earmarked for greatness by some 'Landers before they were out of their proverbial football nappies.

I will try and be more cranky and less optimistic in future.

Given your view, I would now expect all recruiters to simply say their draftees are nothing until they have played AFL.

Btw just to be accurate, I never said Matthews would be “special”, I actually said “I have a feeling we could have another good footballer in the pipeline”.

Sorry again for expressing a positive hope for one of our players.

If you look at his legs in the training pics, they are tree trunks for an 18 year old, look at lachie neales legs. Could be a good pick by JT

Doubt if he’ll be showing his legs off anytime soon. The last time he did, things ended badly 🫣🤭😁

Can you provide actual posts where posters said these players would be even close to great? Maybe some have said similar about Langford (and possibly Tracc and Clarry and all the way back to maybe Watts and Scully). But i think you're totally exaggerating what posters have said.

also said of Kozzie, Bowser, Luke Jackson, D Turner, Rivers, Langford, etc etc

What's your point?

Maybe I didn't put my query clearly.

I meant are Koszze's cousin (ie Latrelle) and Mentha vying for the same position?

I never even thought that Mentha would replace Kozzie

I thought it sounded strange mono.

Jeffo

Hands are good, he is moving well, struggles a bit when closely checked, has a beautiful set shot which has developed into a very smooth gait, and with great intention.

The delivery into him is improving, which makes his job of getting the ball easier.

Sounds like he is coming along. Thanks!

I keep seeing Kentfield brought up as an example of someone who hasn't lived up to the hype (because this is what Cranky's post suggests). He's only been with us since the mid-season (rookie) draft of 24, so about 18 months. There's no way he would've been at AFL levels of fitness and strength at that point. Six months later (a year ago) he was starting to recover from a bout of pneumonia that put him in hospital. This is his first proper pre-season. We'll see how he goes this year.

AMW would have played AFL last year without that ACL injury. Kolt and Jeffo do have to level up at this point.

They were all Special in their own way CF as is everyone that gets the privilege of pulling on a Dees guernsey.😁👍

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
