I've got it all sorted. Could have saved these clubs hundreds of thousands in consultants fees. They just need to sort out who will be the first to appoint and the rest will follow.

Dees - Voss/Ratten - Ratten most likely.

Poos - Voss/Ratten - Voss most likely.

Shockers - McKenna/Daniher - McKenna most likely.

Dungs - Sheedy/Daniher - Daniher most likely.

Why Ratten ? He is an assistant at Carlton, why would we go for an assistant at such a poor team ? He also left Melbourne half way through a contract he is not the right man for Melbourne.

McKenna and Viney should be the only 2 considered. Forget about has beens like Connelly, Pagan and Sheedy we should be looking to the future not the past. If we go back to the past we might as well have kept Daniher.

Voss's lack of coaching experience worries me.

no way should Voss get a go, he needs to learn the ropes, who the hell does he think he is that he can waltz in and coach a team with no knowledge or experience in the coaching game. Plus l reckon he's a bit of a [censored]

It is simple

Brett Ratten is the man to coach Melbourne

Any of the other contenders will set us back 10 years

If we dont get Ratten, I may not renew my membership

He is the obvious choice

If ratten had wanted to coach the dees he would have hung around more than 5 weeks as an assistant.

He would make a great coach, but voss seems more interested in spreading his wings OUTSIDE his former club.

I have heard whispers of Peter Sumich putting his hand up for a senior job in Victoria. The verdict is out on that one.

i was on the carlton plane back from sydney on sunday, somewhat unfortunate, but i did get a chance to speak to brett ratten on the bus on the way to long term carpark.

He seemed really excited about coaching the dees, he said he was in the process of the applying and he was looking forward to it a lot. We got onto talking about other things such as the dockers (he doeasnt rate connoly) and money AFL clubs spend per year, which was really interesting.

I think he would be a great coach!

LOL Y_M you wonder why you get banned, you go too far sometimes....

Personally, I have likened to the idea of ratten, I believe he is the perfect fit for us, a hard nosed coach.

I assume the application and assessment process is more than just allowing him to 'waltz in'. Otherwise he's got as much right to apply as anyone else. Jeez ... he hasn't got the job yet.

There are just 3 criteria we should be considering for the new top dog. Anyone who fits all criteria should be shortlisted and considered for the roll:

1) They must have experienced premiership success as either a player or coach. We need people at the club who know what it takes to win. We should not take on anyone who was great at losing.

2) They must have played as a backman or on-baller. This gives preference to those people with a defensive midset, who will train their team to be accountable and hard at the ball, rather than soft and outside.

3) They must have had prior experience as a coach or assistant coach. Great players do not necessarily make great coaches, and vice versa. But managing a group of self-motivated individuals to get them to play as a cohesive unit, as well as all the other staff associated with the football department is a learned skill, and not one which you can have without sufficient exposure.

So now to assess the names:

Voss - 1 & 2 but no 3

Ratten - 1, 2 & 3 - candidate worth considering

Longmire - 1 & 3 no 2

Sumich - 1 & 3 no 2

McKenna - 1, 2 & 3 - candidate worth considering

My vote is with McKenna. He is given loads of responsibility at a place where they are getting enormous output from a pretty thin list. Ratten is getting nothing from a dud list.

feel free to add other names...

Im a big fan of Mick Malthouse as a coach, So I would love to have one of his assistants.

Either Gavin Brown or Guy McKenna. Both were stars and both won premierships and have done their apprenticeships under Mick. They could also bring Buckley as a assistant.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
