Well I understand your view, but itโ€™s plainly wrong to blame an innocent party.

Champion Data do that job and the football clubs canโ€™t override that as they have no ability to do so.

Did I blame the club per se ? I said it was pathetic and disappointing it wasn't updated. And again it was. It's not that bloody hard whoever does it to firstly erase the players who have left.....and then install those coming in.

It's hardly rocket surgery is it ?

Re Riley Onley, the name Onley Fans is clever and amusing but imo the players wonโ€™t call out to him by that name, unless they shorten it to โ€œFans.โ€ So far Iโ€™ve only heard them call him Riley.

Where's Boof, Simmo and Wally?! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Somebody posted that his nickname is Ron.

It's reassuring that the players have gone with "Whitey" for #34. ๐Ÿ˜

I didnโ€™t ask him about โ€œRonโ€ as in, have his teammates adopted it, but I will. Itโ€™s actually a good nickname for him imo.

The first time I heard โ€œWhiteyโ€ being called out I sighed deeply, with a little eye roll. So unimaginative.

As Andy has explained (above) the sausage sizzle is on Saturday 13th December at 8:30am at Goschโ€™s.

For Fridayโ€™s session hungry little devils/demons will have to make do with food brought from home, or if youโ€™re happy to spend a small fortune food from Edwinโ€™s Cafe (on the outside of AAMI) is pretty good. Thereโ€™s numerous eateries in Swan Street (a couple of minutes away from Goschโ€™s) as well as a Coles supermarket.

Last resort: you can get coffee and hot food and snacks from the kiosk at Richmond station. Iโ€™d strongly advise against buying a sandwich from there though. I recently warned another track-watcher whoโ€™s also a Demonlander and he went ahead and had a sanga and immediately regretted it.

To said track-watcher/Demonlander: Iโ€™m not one to say I told you so, butโ€ฆ I did tell you so! ๐Ÿ˜

I saw a rat run out of that Cafe and into the Gents one night......

It's something you'd expect from Collingwood fans, and I can't be more damning than that.

At least we only do it after Kozzy goals (and Banno in the W). The Bulldogs do it after every goal: โ€œDoggy Doggy Doggyโ€ฆโ€

Yeah, basically adding a Y or O to a surname for a nickname is so MEH. Too many of these nicknames are like this. While Rex Hunt tried way too hard to find interesting nicknames and going through Brewer's Phrase And Fable is too much I wish there were more Bisons, Discos and Chunks.

Agree with that and not rocket science either.

Thank you! I havent memorised the new numbers yet so saying number 40 draws a blank.

Hereโ€™s what I do to aid falling asleep: I start at the beginning and name each player in jumper number order. It works a treat. I rarely get past Spaz. I change it up at times and start from the highest jumper number and go backwards. Try it!

Youโ€™re welcome ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Edit: during the womenโ€™s season itโ€™s our womenโ€™s turn to help me nod off ๐Ÿ˜ด

"Player profiles are updated by Champion Data and the AFL and cannot be edited by the Melbourne Football Club. 2026 Player Profiles will be available following the 2025 AFL Draft."

This is written on the top of the Player Page.

Its not our job or fault.

I have noticed in past years it seldom gets done this side of Christmas. Itโ€™s just another example of the AFLโ€™s poor treatment of the people who make the game possible.

This is how hard it is...

Whoever runs the sites, armed with a list provided by the AFL via the 18 clubs of who is now NOT on their list after trade week.

Enter site, select team, select pages, select players page, from list select f,g,k,v,w and a ( whoever are to be deleted ) .. delete... save.

Back out move to next team.... repeat.

20 mins , whole league done.

It's THAT hard.... seriously.

(I'd do it in 10 ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

When you are getting to the end of your AFL career, it is vital to be as fit as possible, to help avoid some injuries and give you every chance in contests etc.

Old and unfit gives you no chance.

Agree Mr Leg but I still think they are great examples of getting every last drop out of their careers.

Based on todayโ€™s updates to the site, the club can now delete players whoโ€™ve been traded out or delisted, and theyโ€™ve been able to add players traded in from other clubsโ€™ lists (e.g. Steele, CJ, Heath and Mihocek). They were also able to add Oscar Berry, who wasnโ€™t previously on any list. However, they still donโ€™t appear to be able to add the new draftees, nor can they update or assign jumper numbers for any of the new players.

I had a look through several other club websites, and many still display their 2025 lists and numbers. Collingwood still shows Mihocek, and CJ remains listed as a Hawk. Like us, St Kilda has the Champion Data notice and theyโ€™ve removed Steele and Heath and added their new high-profile recruits at the bottom of the list without numbers. Trac and JUH have also been added to the end of the Sunsโ€™ list, though they donโ€™t display the Champion Data message. Clarry is not currently on the GWS list.

Whether the responsibility sits with the clubs, the AFL, or Champion Data, it shouldnโ€™t be a complicated fix. These updates should be accurate and timely, and for organisations worth millions, it really shouldnโ€™t be difficult to implement.

Full marks for whoever came up with Luker and Jedโ€™s nicknames.

Thanks GW, good info.

Speaking of training, our CEOs golf game needs some. Saw him tee off today at RMGC on the 7th.

Was a spectacular day, canโ€™t wait for tomorrow.

Sure going to be busy on the 10th at 7.05 ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I assume Cookie will help out with the golf as well.

Yeah, Jed could be Clampett or (Adam's) Apple or Jed Adams could be pared down to Dada. Luker could be Yoda. Then again these guys are paid to play footy, not sing or make nicknames or get ideas off a fan site.

Wouldnโ€™t it be Yodar?

I didnโ€™t ask but he mentioned it anyway: heโ€™s gonna be fine before the season starts.

Incidentally, someone on here recently commented on how Jack seems to have had a weight lifted from his shoulders. This is definitely the case. He seems to be enjoying a new sense of freedom, itโ€™s like heโ€™s been unshackled. Itโ€™s so good to see.

A really great observation. I'm interested to know if anyone has any idea why? Something obvious like new coach? New player dynamics? Whatever the reason it's great to hear.

Of course! But it'd be pronounced Yoda.

Iโ€™m thinking it might be the prospect of being part of a revitalised midfield. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Today Richo came across from AAMI to Goschโ€™s with someone Iโ€™ve never seen before. Turns out heโ€™s a former Melbourne Storm player who now works for Storm in some other capacity (coaching or admin, Iโ€™m not sure). His name is Ryan Hoffman and while I didnโ€™t speak with him, my friend whoโ€™s a training and gameday volunteer at Storm did because they know one another. Apparently Ryan is working for our club in some sort of consultancy role on a one day a week basis. So yeah, seems weโ€™re giving out these one day a week gigs left, right and centre. ๐Ÿ˜…

I refuse to call Luker Suzanne! Or Filthy, for that matter.

Unless and until the boys come up with a nickname, Luker it is. Itโ€™s a great name because thereโ€™s never any confusion about who weโ€™re referencing since heโ€™s the only Luker.
