If you pause the video at 55 sec, the fella with the dark tracky dacks and the big beard and cap looks at the camera. He looks like Augustus Brayshaw.....am I going nuts?

You’re not nuts, JVAM. I was sitting not 10 feet away from this guy and while I didn’t think he looked familiar* I did wonder why he was standing with Riv (Jared), Jonesy. Chappy and Selwyn. They all seemed to know him well, lots of banter and laughter amongst them. He also joined the huddle when Georgia C was giving the pep talk and since he isn’t admin nor a player, I wondered why he was out there.

My son actually came along with me to this session (that’s a Dr Phil episode in and of itself right there) and noticed I was looking at this guy quizzically. I said I was just curious as to who he is and my son said that’s interesting because it looks as though he’s trying to avoid you. 😅

*I have prosopagnosia (face blindness) so my observations are worth sweet fa 🙃

I've run forensics* and the conclusion is 80% similarity to Gus, if one accounts for the passage of time, the likely reduced levels of physical activity since retirement, and the impressive growth of facial hair (in the same growth patterns).

*stared obsessively at old Gus pics on Google

Thanks Ghosty. I'm sure he wasn't avoiding you. Maybe he was there to find out if coaching is his jam.

I first thought it was Mathew Scarlett, but I then watched the video on a bigger screen and I'm convinced it's Gus.

I have 2 blurry "smoking gun" screenshots that prove me right, but I've got no idea how to attach them to a demonland post. I've spent way to long trying to figure this out that my boss is getting annoyed with the lack of work being done......I'm the boss.

You mask it well, G.

In my case, do beards help? Or my 191cm?

I'm not convinced. The hair in the beard is too light, plus it's straight - in 2023 when Gus was photographed with a beard it was darker and curly. Plus the ear is a different shape - Gus has a dangly ear lobe whereas imposter Gus doesn't. The top of this person's ear also dips a bit, Gus' doesn't. This person also has a fuller face than Gus.

Update on Demons star after horror collision

Angus Brayshaw hasn’t yet discussed his playing future with the Melbourne and turned up for training with the Demons on Tuesday feeling “a lot better” as he moves through the AFL’s concussion protoco

Happy Summer GIF by @SummerBreak

Hate to disagree with you Ghosty - Maeve had strapping on her hamstring and did not participate in training. No way she is playing. I guess we want to keep the Lions guessing...we'll know for sure at 5 pm today - maybe? Banno was also getting some treatment but reckon she is good to go. I reckon the only change will be Molly in for Maeve.

I generally look for a distinguishing characteristic and commit it to memory. Once I’ve met someone a few times it’s easier to recognise them. I’ve now met you enough times to know it’s you 🤗

The more I think about it the more I believe you’re right. I do believe he didn’t want to be recognised (for whatever reason), he kept his head down a lot. I doubt that anyone there apart from the coaching staff knew it was him.

I'm with you, KDF. @Jack Vineys Anger Manager's pics are the sealer. The other difference from those you note is the eyes; Gus's face has a particular tilt and his right is lower than his left, whereas Mystery Man's eyes are pretty much in line (if anything, right higher than left).

Riley Beverage reporting that Chaplin is out. Huge loss

Catching up on this thread. That was a rollercoaster! 😥 Based on @Harvey Wallbanger intel, I did suspect we were probably playing selection games even naming her in the first place, sadly.

Line ball at best this game. Our form in the last five games has been like a sputtering old triumph with a few great quarters and some stalling in others.

Need a good performance or we could be facing the dreaded straight sets

Weather for Sunday looks quite good compared to Saturday.

On another note... how did the Eagles make the 8. Saw their game at Casey and they were lacking to say the least.

Chaplin out is a shocker. One of our best players this year. She’s been holding a shaky defence together. Terrible luck

Snuck in with 6 wins, one of which was against the top 8. Though I guess we can hardly talk in that regard!

Ebert dropped has shocked me.

Yeah I didn’t expect that. I thought she was good last week.

Avg. games experience of teams as selected (Round 11 comparison):

Melb: 49.9 (46.1)

Bris: 67.0 (59.3)

Brisbane have 1 player aged 23 and under, the Dees have 10.

Ins and outs compared with R11:

Melb: IN - Gall, D.Taylor, OUT - Chaplin, Ebert

Bris: IN - Hampson, Koenen OUT - Boltz, Wright

First finals game:

Melb: Gall, Mahony, O'Hehir, Rigoni, S.Taylor, Wotherspoon

Bris: Davison, Dooley

Things look a little dire on paper. But we throw all of that out the window at the first ball-up! Go Dees!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Brisbane

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Geelong

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
