Just reading Zero Hanger draft picks for the Dees pick 11 Taylor pick 12 Nairn pick 15 Lindsay. ( not necessarily written in stone). Not sue how we ended up with a 3 1ST rounders?

Cal's dropped his phantom. You can bin all the others

Sounds as though we can just about lock in Nairn with one of our first two picks.

X Taylor or Farrow highly likely with the other pick.

was hoping we might trade 7 and 8 for 2 and 13 from wc, which could have got a Robey and probably Pickett, but seems that’s not the case now

pickett going from a possible rookie to maybe 3rd round to second to first to likely top 10 is... quite something

i know that nairn is being frowned on by others, but i remember when sidebottom was similarly frowned upon in his draft year

worked out alright for the filth

Perfectly fine. He is a total football head, doesn't follow one club and instead has every AFL team's jersey in his wardrobe. I think he would be STOKED to be playing on the MCG, especially when he hits his peak and we're playing in packed finals games 😜.

He can bunk with one of the other WA boys in Rivers, JVR, Kolt, Luker who will help him work through any homesickness.

Agree we pick the best player available … but then again we live every off season with the go home factor. (Jackson, ANB, McVee all lost in the last few years, and constant rumours about others).

Sidebottom dominated in the last few TAC cup games. Then he was easily the best player on the ground in the GF… as a midfielder, kicked 10 goals and had 32-possession performance. No one frowned at his selection, including me.

The knock on Sharp seems to be his lack of versatility due to average kicking, outside game and pace. He might make us better right away but long term we could face a similar issue we've had with Oliver and Viney having a player is only really effective as an inside mid. Doesn't seem to line up with King's likely game plan either or our recent draft prioritese of players with sound kicking skills from the jump.

So Cal says Farrow and Nairne, with Essendon going Taylor and Sharp (and Dovaston at 9 with pic swaps) and Rich going Cumming and Robey.

How we feel about that? Another WA boy...?

both players have shown form in multiple roles, i think that is a must for JT at the top of the draft as it gives them a second wind in their careers and less chance at failing, if you take dovaston you might be able to tell in 15 games if he's going to make it or not, its just the nature of the role, whereas you can find a 188cm player and they can play a variety of roles, look at sparrow, didnt hit his ceiling of burst inside mid but has still eeked out a role, windsor, lindsay tholstrup also all have that same capability even langford has shown some craft forward

what do we do in this sitution? "ignore duffield i broke it and had to go back so thats CDT"

sharp? grjl? lindsay? dovaston? pickett? trade?

This is the pick downgrade scenario imo

WCE grab our pick for Sharp in exchange for 13 + F2

Cry

Reading far too much into it, but weird that Twomey had Farrow at our first pick rather than Nairn¿?

Pretty significant upgrade on Spargo though - kicks multiple goals, gets a lot of the footy, has great running capacity and is 6’2” vs 5’8” making him an aerial threat too.

Chalk and cheese, one might say.

'Nairn was a key member of South Australia’s undefeated national champs campaign — and he produced one of the best individual performances of the carnival, booting 7.0 from 10 disposals and five marks against WA playing as a mid-sized forward.'

Seven straight!

Be still my beating heart.

Take Sharp without a second thought and ask the AFL if we can re-do the pick before it.

Sharp is possibly the safest player in the whole draft. He’s the best inside mid and will play midfield and forward at top level. If he slides to one of our picks then we’ve basically won the draft.
