In addition to the specific player we're talking about here?

They have been told to get creative. They know our fascination in Bailey. It's giving them a chance to see what else they can do. No one specifically

Absolutely appalling if we don't use Humph in our demands!

I suppose it's all up to Humphrey's if he wants to come to us, surely our financial package will entice him to come home and be with family.

Surely a deal can be struck to include him into the Tracc deal.

If you go back, Demon Forever said this was incorrect. Tom making up stories lol

So long as one of Humphrey or Walter are involved in the deal I’ll be happy.

If it’s for picks 6 & 7, whilst I’d come around to it, I’d still be wanting Lamb’s resignation because he would have failed in negotiating MFC’s best interests after declaring wanting a head turning offer (6 & 7 definitely ain’t head turning for a player of Trac’s ilk).

Is this new information from today’s meeting DF?

Too old for our list profile

touk is a year younger than petracca..

Not even close to the Dees position. The guy is now searching and making stuff up. The conversations have not been that forthcoming between both parties. To say the dees want those picks is just a blatant lie

Agree, however, I suspect that this is the view Morris has been fed by GC. Given how MFC feel about Morris, I doubt they are feeding him much info. Morris never tells you which side of the negotiation is his source and how much is his spin. Patience, grasshoppers, all will be revealed by next Wednesday.

If we trade the brand for a few picks in a weak draft, I will probably do nothing because I’m a pretty calm and tame person, but I will be disapproving of it.

I would spend a couple of days stewing over whether to write a disapproving letter to the club and then do nothing. My auto renew membership.would continue as though nothing happened.

Geez, is Max now on the Trade table.

No, but Touk is the same age as Trac. If we’re looking to build on our strong young core, H meets the age profile

From Ralph's

Melbourne could end up reaping Gold Coast’s No.7 and 8 draft picks for Christian Petracca this season but first will have to concede star half forward Bailey Humphrey is off limits.

Gold Coast and Melbourne are yet to have detailed talks about a trade for Petracca but it would now be a shock if he did not play for the Suns.

Everything there is right. Yes we could get their picks, but our preference is to get BH. No in depth talks to date

I’m taking this as the GCS have tried to redirect the conversation away from Bailey to others on the list, but have told the club Roger’s is off the list well.

That’s is a question btw.

We need to stop consoling ourselves with the ‘two top 10 picks for a 30 year old myth.’

If it ends up being the two first rounders then we have to live with it and move on. But 2 top 10 picks in the 2025 draft is not the same as 2 top 10 picks last year, in 2023, 2022 or even 2021.

Notwithstanding that 7 & 8 becomes either 10 & 11 or 11 & 12, the draft is frighteningly shallow.

I’m no twomey but I do keep an interest in draft crops, and the only one this is comparable to in recentish years is 2020.

We would be victims of a robbery if that is how the trade unfolds, no point pretending otherwise.

Thanks @Demon Forever .

Sounds to me like a major barrier is Bailey being comfortable enough to request the trade publicly.

Any read on how likely it is that will change?

I haven't been advised but I can bet that dees would be so persistent if there weren't any indications he would come.

I’ll be severely mildly miffed for at least 24 hours

I think we are harsh on this draft crop honestly. Last year was exceptional, this year has 15-20 really good prospects and then it thins out hard

If we do get those 2 picks they’ll still be two really solid long term prospects

A poor draft indeed. Thilthorpe at 2 but the rest of the top 10 are all extremely underwhelming players. Max Holmes at 20 is the clubhouse leader by quite some margin.

There’s barely half a dozen ‘decent’ AFL quality players in the whole draft. Thilthorpe, Holmes, Bowey, Gulden, McCreery and Neale.

I dont see any other players other then Humphrey that would suit our needs or equivalent to a satisfactory level.

Ben King would be interesting, somewhat surprised there’s not more talk of him given he’s a pre agent. But I suspect he holds out until his free agency.

Mac Andrew, Jed Walter, Ethan Read of course.

A wildcard - Will Graham is a beauty. Not for Tracc straight up but certainly as part of a deal.

Yes, but they’re good prospects in the same sense that the mid-late second rounders in last year’s draft were good prospects. They’re still not the calibre of drafted that picks in that range normally are

They could still turn into great AFL players, but so good a random kid plucked from pick 47. It’s just that the likelihood of drafting a future superstar in this draft is far lower than last year.

perhaps write a strongly worded letter of complaint to the MFC

To be completely honest I am probably too lazy to do that. I’ll likely just deal with it, and go to my traditional 6-8 games a year.

Last years crop was reported as being 5 deep only. After Langford the drop was reported as significant

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
