I would agree, but this is the MFC unfortunately.

Same one that sacked Goody...

Shoved Oliver down the road...

We may be evolving

This has some distance to play out.

Just heard Ben Ainsworth (GC footballer newly traded to Carlton and also from Gippsland) on SEN, he mentioned Bailey Humphrey being a Moe boy and having family reasons to move back to Melbourne. Sounded like Humphrey is desperate to come back home to Victoria.

Unfortunately unless Bailey starts rattling some cages publicly nothing will happen and Gold Coast will hold firm knowing that the Dees will fold at the 11th Hour for picks and change.

There is a big twist coming. Michael Oakes maybe removed as player manager. Dees dont like this bloke at all after the dealings they have had with him. Im hearing he might be on the outer.

Just not sure if it happens before trade period ends

Player manager for BH?

Assuming Michael Oakes is Bailey's manager? Is there precedence for a Player Manager being removed during Trade Week? Wild if true.

I’ve said it literally from the beginning of this thread, this one’s gonna go down to the deadline like all trades involving a big name star. Whatever the deal ends up being if it does happen its gonna all revolve around hump for trac.

What has his manager done to annoy us? And how will it change anything?

not sure. But I feel there is movement at the station

Yeah interesting. Took Bailey wants 100% to go back home to VIC due to family issues/reasons, he said it's now up to his manager put forward a request. Who is his manager?

I don’t want this thread to end. It’s so much fun. Once it ends, normal programming will resume and we’ll be back to bun fight mode 🙁

Certainly is, I don’t remember the last time this has happened, if at all?

It’ll be the most Melbourne thing ever if we miss out on Humphrey because his manager is a dud, and then he gets a new manager after the trade period and moves to a Hawthorn next year

Why would he be removed now? For not doing what his client has asked him to do as in request a trade? Very weird.

Good. He's been utterly shameful in his handling of his client's situation.

As I said all of last week, the two Temu managers involved here are literally killing this deal

I hope BH has told Oakes that he will be sacked if he doesn't get this deal done

Just our luck that we are dealing with a kid who has the world's most useless manager, and is not in fact managed by the likes of Paul Connors

GODDAMN IT!

Just out of curiosity how much impact would a poor manager have on this situation?

Surely if Bailey asked his manger to request a trade they couldn’t mess that up - COULD THEY!? 🤣

I tend to agree.

For GC this is their biggest exposure over the 🎪🤡🎪 They need the Tracc deal to show they're a genuine destination club and can make big boy decisions. Dont land him.. Not a good look.

Dees do deal..all well and good.

Dees not satisfied, hold on to Tracc. Well, we tried, they didn't try hard enough. Not end of world.

They might have the Bowers, we have the Joker

why is everyone losing their [censored] over picks 7&8? historically, this is a "good deal" considering some of these trades that went down...

Essendon trades pick nine, 2019 1st round pick to GWS for Dylan Shiel and 2019 2nd round pick.
GWS trades Jeremy Cameron and two 2021 2nd round picks to Geelong for pick 13, pick 15, pick 20 and a 2021 4th round pick.
Fremantle trades Lachie Neale and pick 30 to Brisbane for pick six, pick 19 and pick 55.
Adelaide trades Patrick Dangerfield and pick 50 to Geelong for pick nine, pick 28 and Dean Gore.
West Coast trades Chris Judd and pick 46 to Carlton for Josh Kennedy, pick three and pick 20.

err because Judd, Dangerfield, Cameron and Neale are superstars for their new clubs.......3 even winning Brownlows

Picks are overated and a lottery

A good manager is so so important

A good manager can pull the "you don't scratch my back I won't scratch yours" card... if my client doesn't get what he wants, then my clients A B & C will never play for you, or my clients D, E & F who do play for you, will not sign extensions.

Good managers have media levers they can pull as well.

Humphrey's manager is a wet potato

Sounds like a Humphrey paradox (I think): Will only request a trade if he knows it can be guaranteed to happen, but to find out if it will happen he must request a trade.

Footy is a business.

What impact does a poor manager have in ANY business ??

There's your answer.

I’m afraid we’ll be let down again with all this false hope, after all we are Melbourne supporters 😂

Hope you guys are right with your knowledge and inside info 🤞🏼🤞🏼🙏🙏

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
