The 25th of September will always bring back memories of that beautiful day in 2021.

Nothing nor nobody can take it away from us. It lives in our hearts forever.

We’ll get back there again.

I was just thinking that early on Saturday evening, one of the teams that we disposed of with great ease during the 2021 AFL finals series will have won two premierships in the interim four years since then. Such a shame that we couldn't make it a dynasty.

Does everyone start watching the replay from the 3rd quarter when the bont puts them 19 points up?

Every time. Actually, sometimes I watch from the start to see Tracc’s goal and then I go straight to the Bont’s goal. And the rest is sweet, sweet history

From Bontempelli's goal, start aging the extended intro version of 'the only thing they fear is you'.

Actually I can just about do that and watch the highlights in my head.

Pretty sure the last 45 minutes of that game do not conform to conventionsl space-time.

Several things feel like they happen over and over, like going back to the chorus.

A wonderful football moment for me. I have always considered myself so lucky to have been able to witness 7 Demons premierships but they were all way way back in time. It was a long wait just like Saints supporters are experiencing right now. Sadly, all those premierships were mainly just memories with little footage of the games, Now I can at last watch in full colour the 2021 triumph. I did have strong feelings for those born after 1964 who had suffered 57 years in the football wilderness with not one flag, I did feel their joy of having success at last.

About 15 years ago I purchased some Melbourne demons number plates which read 57 MFC. I guess it was an omen! Go Demons!!!!

That 17 game winning streak was pure bliss.

To go into the Finals hot like that. Punish every team in the finals and then come out the next year and have a 10 game victory lap.

It didn’t end well in 2022, but it was a hell of alot more fun than the days where we lost 17 in a row!

The ball just went out of bounds. Jackson to the front .....

Never would I thought 4 years on we'd be where we are.

You would have thought we'd at least have had another premiership.

Hopefully not to far away

Plenty of times I'll just look at that impossible last minute of the third quarter - even the looks on players' and fans' faces were priceless! And you've gotta love Luke Jackson basically mouthing the F word behind Clarry as he realises that the "bang bang bang" goal very almost means he's a premiership player less than two years after being drafted. 😂

It's not you individually but I do wish people would just let it go. It didn't happen; it's very much so a new beginning next year and just like there's a word to describe a virgin and nothing for someone who's only 'been intimate' once there's a huge difference between one flag we all experienced and if now we are still waiting. Let's move on.

Yes, the Bont looked up at the scoreboard just before three quarter time and his face had 'what is the use ' on it. Great player, wish he was in red and blue.

Yep, and Treloar's look too. And there's a colourful Melbourne supporter in the crowd with his hands covering the shock his mouth would betray and tears of joy in his eyes, and group of indignant Dogs supporters including an attractive raven haired lady with an (understandably) b*tchy "we are not amused " look on her face. 😂 We have so many minutes in a lifetime; this was one of the best.

Nothing can make up for missing out on seeing it live, but the premiership celebration on the 5th of December at the ‘G was probably the closest thing we could have to being there. 35,000 Demons fans, zero opposition fans, watching the entire match together was such a memorable experience. And this time Goody got to make a speech 😅

I was fortunate enough to attend, being from the NT. Feel gutted for all the diehard lifelong Dees fans stuck in the dystopian Dan Andrew’s lockdown that missed out 🤬 but rest assured it did actually happen! Greatest night of my life bar none, and I got to spend it with my then 10 year old who wanted to leave after Bont’s goal! Funny what you think of but a real ‘grand final’ moment for me was Hibbo’s spoil on Johanesson in the first. Certain shot on goal denied and absolutely personified his value to the team. Also there was a bloke that ran onto the field in his undies at 3 qtr time. Very amusing stuff…

Yes, that guy was thinking what we were all thinking, 'Can we now go and win a long awaited flag?' I was not really convinced until ANB kicked a goal to put us 7 goals up in last quarter. The moment had arrived. A finals campaign never to be repeated I would reckon. Also these thrashings were achieved on a neutral playing field. No chance for opposition supporters to claim that we had 'home ground advantage'.

4 goal lead and 7 goals in a row and even the looks on the Bulldogs players suggested we were something like a 98% chance at that stage. That said I also wasn't gonna tempt fate - I didn't declare it in my head until maybe we were 10 goals up with 6 mins to go

I can close my eyes anytime and watch the whole game in my mind' s eye.

I watched it so many times.

From the point halfway through the 3rd against the Cats in the final round it was a surreal run, obviously the best month of football I've ever witnessed by this club. It had a sense of inevitability about it.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
