Howes looks panicky.

hard to tell on the stream, but it really looked like a lot of the casey players were running in quicksand that quarter

i am fearful of a sluggish 'loading' game in mfc's immediate future

Edited by whatwhat say what

Well the system certainly broke down that quarter.

Handball chains that couldn't break free or went backwards allowing ample time for Swans to go forward.

Kicks via the boundary line with up and under kicks into the forward line

Swans are flooding back which is making it particularly difficult to achieve any rebound plus Swans are entering on our countless turnovers which makes defending a nightmare

i’d give him a shot at the med fwd role of melk and fritsch for a few weeks in the vfl

Havent been able to watch the first half so cheers for the info everyone.

From an opposition perspective it's interesting to see Florent in the reserves. He seemed a solid 22 lock prior to this season and contracted until 2029 I believe.

Jesse Dattoli looked super impressive in his draft year as a half-forward with stints on ball. Strong competative player for his size and excellent overhead game. I see he's amongst the goals. Northern Knights boy so maybe one to keep on the radar if he gets home sick.

The umpire whistles coming through the effects mic from the surrounding grounds is bloody annoying.

I'm not watching it, but can anyone tell me, are we trying to play the same style as the AFL team? Surely...

Sme whistle is annoying. I thought it sounded like the audio of the umps whistle was coming through earlier than the video and the commentators coming later than both. If so, quite an achievement.

I dunno if he has the ‘smarts’ around the footy to play the role

He reads the play well and impacts aerially from a spoil / intercept perspective

He seems to operate in straight lines as opposed to making intelligent decisions in the moment, particularly when it comes to with ball in hand

Yes we are but at VFL level the packs are often more crowded making it harder to break lines. Some of the players eg Tholstrup might be better trying to break a line and then handball rather than handballing at first instance.

Also we kick laterally instead of at 45 degrees allowing opposition to flood back.

All that aside it's promising

Jai Culley’s most impressive performance thus far in red and blue.

Ollie Florentino looks a class above and has the AFL physique to go with it. Cunningham is another regular who is returning after a long injury lay-off. Dattoli looks every bit a quality first rounder will rebound to first no doubt.

Mitch Hardy very intelligent footballer.

Cream has set- kicking now has some solidity.

Goal!!!!!!!!

Agree it's an audio issue with the ground set up.

Nice to know that there's a mark before a player kicks the ball

jvr very strong to get the separation and then double lead for the mark i50 but his kicking is letting him down quite a bit - actually true of the whole of the casey side; their disposal really letting them down

Cream is soft cheese

Sestan to Culley

Roo playing well.

Misses…

Bonner???

Sestan intercept followed by turnover.

Comedy capers on Casey back lin

Jesse Craven superb tackle.

JEFFO is the new BBB third free goal!!!!!!!!!!!

el jefe seems to be one of those forwards who has a knack for earning a free kick i50 - he now has 3 goals 1

billings is absolutely racking it up, playing that classic gut-running wing role and getting a heap of ball running the lines

So many missed marks and unforced errors. A lot of lazy football. TMac having a mare. Kolton has pretty ordinary skills. Jeff’o and Roo the main positives

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
