Probably because Dangerfield has played an extra 147 games. Their average per game is about the same.

It would be handy to quote statistics in context.

At the conclusion of the 2019 season, when Dangerfield was a 29 year old, he still had a further 81 goals than Petracca does at the same age. In fact, his goal accuracy slightly increases to 57.17% (Goals 283 - Behinds 212), so I'm not really certain you're making the point you think you are.

But you're right, it is handy to quote statistics in context.

I appreciate the comparative point you are making and I'm not sure a direct comparison is valid.

But that aside, there is a tendency in this thread for posters be selective about info they quote to support their narrative eg someone wrote Trac is over 30 or in his 30's. He is 29 until January to suppor their position he is past it The age per se is no biggy but it has become entrenched as another #TracMyth.

My position is that I prefer him to stay but if he goes so be it. Nonetheless, I am a bit pedantic so will try to provide more accurate info when it is available.

I know you know the players better than most on here and so can probably set me straight - but my understanding was that although the media were first to say it publicly (who else can?) this was part of the messy leaks last year and so it was said by someone at the club (as a way of fighting back against all the negative things coming out from Trac / his management about the club).

Where the term originated from (media or club) is debatable but it’s not the point I’m making, because regardless of who coined it, Tracc hates it and always did.

I can only go by what he’s told me. As I’ve said before, in the absence of a polygraph machine, his word will have to suffice, for mine anyways.

He hasn’t publicly come out and declared his love for and loyalty to the club á la Claz but he has in private to me, albeit eight months ago, and yes, I realise his feelings may have changed since then. FWIW, it was extremely heartfelt and he was quite emotional, especially when talking about his teammates.

I wish folks would stop comparing Tracc with Dangerfield. There’s so many variables to be factored in.

What has he done to dispel the "Brand" view

He’s done the only thing he can do which is to not encourage it and basically to ignore it. What else is he gonna do? Denounce it publicly? We all know that doing so would only serve to re-ignite the term.

The disrespect for Trac is unbelievable but if you say a bad word about Clarry you're walking on egg shells I just don't get it.

I love and respect both players, and for different reasons, but mainly for their honesty and willingness to show their vulnerability. They’re human beings just like everyone else. I don’t care what they’re being paid, it doesn’t alter the fact that they have feelings and can be hurt.

Yes and No...

If he was genuinely against the idea he only has to say so. Nothing more nothing less.

Given the history he , whether warranted, deserved or otherwise, would, as a social media savvy person be aware vacuums are filled.

Exhibit A ... Oliver.

No one is suggesting, dare I say, that he has to but not saying anything will invite any number of explanations.

If he isn't prepared to initiate or control the narrative then no one ought be surprised question marks appear.

Something like.. "I've enjoyed this season and am happy at Melbourne. I've no particular desire to look to a trade and am very much looking forward to Steve (King) coming on board and discussing how we all work towards a more successful '26 "

Doesn’t open doors, Doesn’t shut doors.

And we all move along...

They are very different players. That’s the best reason not to compare them.

Danger can play a pack marking CHF and his burst from stoppage is incredible even at 35. His approach to a contested ball is maniacal.

Trac, when forward, plays a roaming role where his ability to be clean and involve teammates in scoring strings is elite.

As mids, they start in similar positions but go about their business in different ways too.

Both are stars of the comp. But different.

Trac is a whole lot more like Dusty than he is danger but lazy player comparisons seem to group all powerful mids together.

Danger is much more in the Nat Fyfe, James Hird, Nathan Buckley mould, big powerful and strong overhead

He says so, and watch the circus come to town, especially on a slow news day. You as a Dees fan should know that him saying so is a veritable invitation for the media and sundry to set Brand Petracca in stone. We’d never hear the end of it.

Edit: I just realised you were referring to Tracc publicly declaring his love for and commitment to the Club. I was replying to his aversion to the Brand Petracca label.

The irony is no-one ever comments on 'brand' Dangerfield (fishing) or 'brand' Smith (himself) and many other players.

It is another #TracMyth that has gone out of control.

Ghosty... the Circus is coming anyway. Come monday when there is no other news ( immediate) than Trade, given the absence of any narrative framing it will ALL be invented. Granted 99% is anyway.

Im truly not sure though what is worse.. saying nothing or something ( non specific )

It will be presumed by some ( media ) that saying nothing is to avoid incriminating himself and their next question or segway is what/why.

Granted its very reminiscent of that classic " when did you stop beating your wife " type of situation.

We'll all see how it all pans out soon enough I suppose... 🤡🎪🤡

if he 100% is committed and doesnt want to leave, then end the speculation and innuendo and publicly state on one of his many social outlets that he loves the club and is staying unless the dees want him to move on. it isnt hard.

That’s what YOU would do. That’s what many others would do. Just because it’s not what Tracc’s doing ie. he’s not saying anything, doesn’t make it wrong. We all think/act differently and we all have our reasons for how we think/act.

Fantastic news. Best path back to finals is a fully fit and firing Petracca and Oliver so lets see Steven King earn his money!

Tbh... thats my view too. But I can see the other side of the coin. I wouldn't choose that course but get some will.

You dont always need to fan the sparks and embers to cause a fire. Sometimes you just need to walk away.

The silence does increase my curiosity.

its more for the 60k+ supporters that are forming a view of the player, it might not affect some players but it would affect a lot.

Assuming they both stay (hoping), hard decisions with our midfield.

Imo viney should be a full time tagger on the oppositions best mid. (Some mids would legit have sleepless nights. That is his edge. Use it)

Playing Trac forward is fine in theory but when on ball (and if kicks back at his average) he is a top 10 player in the comp. He's too dynamic to be sitting inside 50, 40 minutes a game. Oliver was regaining his touch in the final part of the season. He's too good to be on a flank. Hard puzzle to solve.

Guys like Rivers and Pickett are legit 3 vote match winners when they play midfield. Last 2-3 years of list management and coaching has quite messed this up sadly.

To digress from this thread for a min I am in Normanton which is 8 hrs west of Cairns for a bit or RnR (middle of butt F nowhere and massive croc country) and I went into the local supermarket with my boys and we had on either a Dees shirt or caps and blow me down the woman behind the counter goes “at least u boys follow the right team”.

Couldn’t believe all the way out here we come across another Dees supporter.

Just goes to show we are everywhere!!!!

BTW hope both Tracc and Oliver stay and improve under King.

Go Dees.

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
