Sliding doors moment:

We choose Hogan oven BBB at the end of 2020.

We miss Brown’s impact in late 2021 and either lose the GF in Perth or don’t make it at all.

We win the flag at the G in 2023 over Collingwood or Brisbane with a functional forward line, namely a reliable  J Hogan nailing the shots we collectively blew in both finals. We had most of the ingredients in 2023, but we just needed to duck down to Coles or Woolies to grab some icing on the cake in Hogan.

I reckon Max Gawn had a pretty big say in us making the grand final back in 2021.

Or we take Hogan and win 3 flags on the go. Thats the Bang Bang Bang we need

It's impossible to know. Maybe we lose the GF to Bulldogs in heartbreaking fashion which makes 2022 a lot harder and then upon bouncing back in 2023 have extra pressure from the 21 GF loss and the dip the next year and now being 59 years into the drought lose a 2nd GF in 3 years and by last year are copping way more flak than the premiership-winning team that just got bundled out in straight sets twice. And who knows, go back a year to  the end of 2022 and in this scenario off "that" GF loss and the recent 10th finish   Nibbla and Kozzie leave and our [censored] board sack Goody.

It may well have been sweeter beating Collingwood in 23 GF in a parallel universe. But I'll take what we got, thanks.

Or we miss May and win none

How would we miss May if we had taken Hogan back at the end of 2020?

It was a mess for 18 months MD

Brad Green has done a great job steadying it all down, we have had a reset. It’s now up to The Football Department to deliver.

Brad Green came onto the board and then almost immediately, we had 3 presidents in a very short amount of time.

He might have steadied the ship, but he helped send it off course in the first place.

I think it’s a stretch to blame Brad Green for those matters. He was bought as a link between board and FD, he ain’t no kingmaker

Maybe not in those specific words but my reading of this section is that it is an admission that attempting to recreate what worked in the past is and was a mistake.

That’s a problem with the written word ..can be interpreted in so many ways ..& usually to suit the agenda of the reader ..

He was part of the board that lost its way. I think it's completely fair to question him.

People can make mistakes, and he seems to have done well since the Gutnick meeting, but it's a watch this space as far as I'm concerned.

He’s a fill in before the very likely takeover by Smith, someone who should bring a great deal of stability and hopefully transparency and progress. His role on the board was clear and other than being on the board I can’t see his fingerprints on any of the past turmoil.

I can tell you for a fact that playing Spargo didn’t make his injury any worse. He had a chronic Achilles issue that required surgery. Charlie wanted to avoid surgery and believed his was right to play. He’s now had surgery and is progressing well in his recovery.

But surely nobody can deny that Spartacus was very clearly nowhere near ready to play round zero 2024. May not have made it worse long term, but certainly did not enhance his recovery nor the team’s performance

This is the biggest change, not just some of the players… pretty much all of them. They’re lean and have amazing muscle definition but aren’t bulky. It’s like they’ve been sculpted. I noticed it in the new year and asked Tom Couch if I was just imagining it. He said it’s a new conditioning program, the focus of which is speed and agility which aligns with the “way the game’s played.”

edit: even Bowser has a little six-pack!

Look out, Rick, he's behind you!
