So I just tried to book my tickets and after waiting in the queue and finalising payment, Ticketek decided to boot me out with a gateway timeout…. I’ve no idea if I secured my tickets. Anyone else have the same problem?

Ironic surprised emoji required.

I had the same Ticketek timeout problem upon payment however I persisted trying to pay over and over for another 5 minutes when I received an email confirmation of the tickets and the payment hit my credit card.

My other issue was that the link from the club's Gather Round email routed you into the queue for the Melbourne v Essendon game only whereas I wanted to get one of the 3 game multi passes (was unable to change this after getting through the long, long wait queue) so now I'll have to try my luck with the general admin sale tomorrow to "gather" tickets for those other matches.

I had exactly the same experience after sitting in the queue on my computer. When I went back in, and put in my barcodes again, the no cost option that I'd initially selected was no longer available. That meant either that I'd been successful, or that the relatively small number of free tickets had all gone while I'd been faffing about trying to work out what had happened. Some bad words were said about Ticketek. Then I had the bright idea of checking the Ticketek app on my phone. Eureka! Tickets there! I've still got bad words about Ticketek, not for the first time, but at least this time I have the tickets.

It looks like I have my tickets in the end. Looking at other football forums it seems most people have had issues. Hope fellow Demonlanders have secured their tickets!

I got timed out the first time when I was up to my Visa card security code… swearing could be heard a block and a half away! I was then placed at 30500 in the queue to re-select. Four hours later I finally secured two tickets. Ticketek (and club) system ridiculously complex.

My wife had the same gateway timeout issues but tickets were secured for the family despite the issues.

It’s never easy with this mob (Ticketek)!

It was a nightmare for Mrs DOF and me.  33,000 ahead of us when we logged in, and when we eventually reached the head of the queue and tried to pay for the tickets, a message came up rejecting our credit card details.  We checked and verified the details and repeated the process three more times, all with the same result.  We were close to giving up in frustration, when an email arrived confirming that we had successfully purchased our tickets.  Presumably some sort of system glitch had given us a false message.
I suppose that all’s well that ends well, but that’s two hours of our lives that we won’t get back!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
